Wednesdays are still great for fans of animated series on Disney+ this month as the final season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch continues, along with season 1 of X-Men ’97. Tension on The Bad Batch continues to rise as Clone Force 99 tries to keep the young and gifted Omega out of the Empire’s clutches. And X-Men ’97 continues to be a fun dose of nostalgia.
For the young (and young at heart) Disney+ viewers, Bluey has both a new episode and extended special premiering on the streaming service in April. Disney’s animated film Wish, starring Ariana DeBose and Chris Pine, also makes its streaming debut this month.

If you haven’t taken the leap to bundle Disney+ and Hulu, it might be time. Streaming is only getting more expensive and competitive, and the enticing bundle (which also includes ESPN) might be a version of cable TV, but it’s also just cost efficient. Disney+ and Hulu are so intertwined that their monthly listing updates come in the same email — and as such, we decided to compile them here for you in the same list.
Whether you have Disney+ or Hulu, or both (and the IndieWire staff has weighed on our favorites), each has its benefits. Disney has the family-friendly titles, the Star Wars and Marvel (new episodes of “The Bad Batch” and “X-Men: 97” continue through April), while Hulu is the place to catch FX originals and network episodes. Both streamers have the rights to distribute National Geographic titles, which are well worth exploring along with the rest of the library.

Disney+ is getting into the spooky swing of things by releasing the house of mouse’s latest blockbuster Haunted Mansion to streaming this month, but there’s much more ahead on the service for all the little boils and ghouls to enjoy!
Genre fans will be delighted to hear that there’s a brand-new spin on R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps coming to Disney+ and Hulu in October. Even though the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to churn away in theaters, it’s been a minute since Disney+ has had a proper Marvel blockbuster TV show join its servers. That all changes with Disney+’s list of new releases for June 2023.
The big release this month is undoubtedly Marvel’s Secret Invasion on June 21. Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his hallowed MCU role of Nick Fury to investigate a (secret) Skull invasion in this six-episode series that’s been described as a paranoid thriller. With Emilia Clarke, Cobie Smulders, Ben Mendelsohn, Don Cheadle, and Olivia Colman also involved this could be Marvel’s biggest TV swing since Loki.
Another major Marvel property coming to Disney+ in June will be Stan Lee on June 16, the definitive documentary of the legendary scribe’s life and work. That will be preceded by Assembled: The Making of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania on...

We’re officially entering the spooky season and while Disney+ already dropped a few scary things in September, they’re doubling down in October. One of their most Halloween-centric offerings on display is “Werewolf By Night,” which audiences first learned about just a few weeks ago during Disney’s splashy Marvel and LucasFilm panel at the D23 Expo.
Directed by longtime Pixar collaborator, and acclaimed composer, Michael Giacchino, “Werewolf By Night” is the first Marvel Halloween special. The trailer was shown during D23 Expo and looked like a beautiful tribute to old school horror films, but also heavy on the (possibly implied) gore and scares. Filmed in black and white, the special feels a complete throwback to the old-school Universal frights of the past; think “Bride of Frankenstein” or “The Invisible Man.” The special follows Gael García Bernal as a man with the ability to become a werewolf, and explores...

Disney+ has been around for awhile now so you should know the deal with these monthly new releases. Sometimes a given month on Disney+ is highlighted by a new Marvel show. Other times it’s a Star Wars show. With its list of new offerings for August 2022, however, Disney+ is pulling off the rare content eclipse: Marvel and Star Wars.
The biggest new arrival this month on Disney+ is undoubtedly She-Hulk: Attorney at Law on Aug. 17. Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) stars as Jennifer Walters, a normal human attorney who is somehow embiggified by her cousin Bruce Banner. Will this be the mythical Marvel TV offering that actually offers a non-serialized case-of-the-week format? Guess we’ll find out soon!

It all started with shows such as “Blaze & the Monster Machines” and “Doc McStuffins.” Over the past decade, many preschool children’s animated shows have shifted toward showing a more diverse cast and including storytelling that features Stem themes — problem-solving that’s focused on subjects including basic understanding of math, engineering and the sciences.
“I do think that there are far more Stem animated shows, especially for preschoolers,” says Amy Friedman, head of kids and family programming for Warner Bros. “If you’re doing preschool programming, you’ve got to have an educational foundation because you’re always teaching. The question is what are you teaching? Everything teaches something. You just may do it intentionally or unintentionally.”
In May, Cartoon Network began airing “Sesame Street Mecha Builders,” which focuses on a reimagined cast of Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby, who play robot heroes-in- training.
Together, they use their Stem superpowers to solve problems.

Marvel has continued to have its fun on Disney+ with Moon Knight currently plugging away through its six episode season. With its list of new releases for May 2022, however, Disney+ is making clear that it’s time for some more Star Wars.
The biggest title this month is undoubtedly Obi-Wan Kenobi with two episodes premiering on May 27. Ewan McGregor reprises his role from the Star Wars prequel films to portray the beloved last Jedi (for now) in the six-episode series. Details about the plot are already starting to trickle out so steer clear as best you can if you want an unspoiled experience. But if you want to know what other Star Wars characters might be cameoing, we have you covered over here.
That and the Moon Knight finale on May 4 is all she wrote for Disney’s big franchises this month. There are still some other cool options to consider.
