Well Told Story👍
KFstudios200913 October 2023
This was a movie that had many emotions, action and it just delivered a very good message about how justice should be shared and distributed. About how miners didn't get so much money, and how badly they were treated. This story takes place in Sulitjelma, Norway, were a miner called Konrad and his team had to stop their boss and start to investigate of low money payment. From my point of view, this was a good movie, that was well done, it was just so much better than Narvik from last year, that was just some kind of lousy war-romance movie that just shouldn't have been made. This was something that warmed my heart, something that made me think, and it was very entertaining. The whole crew that works together in the mines, it is not so clearly at the first sight but after a while this team-power looks very real and very organic, something that makes you feel home with the characters, and the actors did play very well, it was many Norwegians and many Swedish people, and I don't want to be mean but from my point of view Swedish people are playing more realistic and organic, like in here, but of course, the Norwegians played very well too. Good dialogues but sometimes it was annoying when they were saying a name too much, like basically in every sentence. Annoying things like that didn't happen much but sometimes, they could work on the dialogues in some places. The music was great, very Norwegian and very old-style, it did really fit the movie. When the action came, the suspense was on, like falling mines and fight scenes. This movie did also serve some inside facts about how to act in a mine, and what you should do when danger is coming. Concluding, this was a well told story, with some good music, plot, action sequences and high, valuable message. If you like war movies or a good drama documentary, I can really recommend this one.

Amazing movie

Emotional, visually striking and historically important, this is a move that most people should see and I believe would love watching. I was taken on an emotional roller coaster and I really loved the cinematography. Many visual reminders to some of the best old western movies. I was at the edge of my seat for much of the movie.

It was even more amazing being able to meet Nils Gaup himself after the movie and hear his thoughts and comments. It took Gaup and his team 14 years to make this movie.

In short: Watch it! And tell your friends to watch it.

How many more characters do I need to be allowed to post this review? One more sentence?

Poor. Skip it.

I have to set things right: This is not a good movie. There is no alternative way to judge this rather low-budget movie, sorry. The storytelling is superficial, I would describe it as beeing perhaps on a teenager level. If you have seen any movies before this in your life you will be dumbfounded by just too many shake'n bake stereotypes that populate the movie. The plot shows much of the same problems. Not worked through enough. The cinematography is also not up to standard but that is perhaps due to needed efforts to mask over the low budget sceneries/backdrops. Plastic snow, studio ambiance like in 60's productions, etc. Some characters are overacted but that probably also comes from the script, not the actors. I suppose it was cheap to produce and sometimes that is the job. Just churn it out to specs and minimal budget and move on. Director Gaup has a long career and made some excellent movies but this is at best average.
