This post contains minor spoilers for the "Star Trek: Lower Decks" episode "The Inner Fight."
Throughout the fourth season of "Star Trek: Lower Decks," audiences have seen a mysterious white UFO, its motivations unknown, cruising about the galaxy attacking and destroying numerous alien vessels. Details about this UFO have slowly been revealed throughout the season, but its true secret remains. Who is flying it and why is it attacking non-Federation ships?
In the latest episode, called "The Inner Fight," it is also revealed that the UFO may be targeting specific Starfleet officers, again for reasons unknown. Captain Freeman (Dawnn Lewis) notes that one of the potential targets may be Dr. Beverly Crusher, once the chief medical officer on the U.S.S. Enterprise. Lieutenant Boimler (Jack Quaid), being intimately familiar with Starfleet history, immediately begins to geek out. He will get to meet the Dr. Beverly Crusher? He is giddy just at the possibility.

NBC bid farewell to its Brooklyn Nine-Nine crew as the Andy Samberg-led comedy aired its final episode Thursday. The series finale rose in its final episode, earning a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.17 million viewers, per Nielsen fast affiliates.
The series finale, titled “The Last Day,” grew from the Season 8 premiere in August. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which also features Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Lo Truglio and more, saw the gang come together for one last heist and an emotional farewell to the titular precinct.
As full the finale was of optimistic goodbyes and callbacks to earlier episodes, Brooklyn Nine-Nine came in second overall to Big Brother on CBS, which ruled Thursday’s primetime in all fields. The latest episode of the reality series was the highest-rated and most-watched title of the evening.

Big Brother and CBS are back at the top of ratings as the latest episode of the reality series returned to win Thursday primetime ratings and viewership. Big Brother jumped up from Wednesday to bring in a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and 4.32 million viewers, per preliminary fast affiliates. That’s a one tenth bump in demo rating and a 15% rise in viewers from the previous episode.
The reality series’ Thursday success comes as Los Angeles County’s Covid-19 database showed an outbreak of nine positive tests tied to the CBS show over several weeks since July 26. The infected were crew members, who are already back at work after being quarantined and cleared, Deadline has heard. The positive cases have not impacted the show, which employs around 500 people.
In other primetime rating news, Fox’s Beat Shazam closed out its fourth season on a slightly higher note from its June premiere.

Viewership for NBC’s coverage of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics continued to fall as Thursday evening delivered both the lowest-rated and least-watched day. Per overnight numbers, NBC’s Thursday night coverage aired to 10.4 million viewers and earned a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demo. Thursday’s numbers fell below last Friday and last Saturday, which first marked the showings with the smallest audience and lowest ratings, respectively.
Thursday saw a 35% drop in viewership and fell 1.5 in ratings from the previous week, which was the second best-performing night. Viewership for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is about half of what the 2016 Rio Olympics brought in and nearly a third of the London Games’ viewers. Given the new lows, it’s worth noting that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics has just more three nights, including Friday.
Primetime eyes weren’t only on the Olympics on Thursday as Fox aired its coverage of the NFL Hall of Fame, which ran from 8 p.

Summer 2021 will likely be short on new hits until the Tokyo Olympics, if you even count them, kick off next month on NBC. Save CBS, each of the English-language broadcast networks have debuted at least one new series so far this summer, with Fox and ABC launching a pair. ABC’s “When Nature Calls With Helen Mirren,” which launched Thursday night, is already the biggest summer freshman to date — and that’s even when comparing its available Live + Same Day viewing to the other shows’ Live + 7 Day numbers, which include one week of (mostly) DVR catchup. That’s some queen of the jungle stuff right there. “When Nature Calls” drew 3.584 million “live” total viewers Thursday night, according to preliminary Nielsen numbers. That’s about 1 million more “live” audience members than ABC’s “Celebrity Dating Game” initially posted. Adding in a week of “Celebrity Dating Game” catchup, the Mirren-hosted animal clip...

Nature called, and Helen Mirren answered. The new series “When Nature Calls With Helen Mirren” debuted at 8 p.m. Thursday, winning its time slot and carrying ABC to a first-place finish. Well, among viewers 18-49, ABC ended up in a tie with Fox atop primetime. Of course, ABC includes the 10 o’clock hour in its primetime averages, and Fox does not. Advantage: Fox. Last night, NBC premiered “Making It” Season 3 and brought back “Good Girls.” The former outperformed the latter. ABC and Fox tied for first in ratings, both with a 0.4 in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary Nielsen numbers. ABC was first in total viewers with 2.72 million, Fox was third with 1.7 million. For ABC, “When Nature Calls” drew a 0.5 rating and 3.6 million total viewers. At 9, “Holey Moley” had a 0.5 rating and 2.6 million total viewers. “The Hustler” at 10 got a 0.4 rating and 2 million total viewers. For Fox, “Beat Shazam...
