Last month, it was announced that writer/producer Judalina Neira is developing a TV series reimagining of the classic sitcom Bewitched for Sony Pictures Television, aiming to turn it into an “irreverent hourlong” show. NBC clearly likes the idea of reviving Bewitched, because now Deadline has broken the news that the network has their own “Bewitched-inspired” show called Something Wicked in the works, and this one already has a star attached: June Diane Raphael, who may be best known for playing the character Brianna Hanson for the 94 episodes that make up the Netflix series Grace and Frankie, which ran for seven seasons.
Raphael is also writing and executive producing Something Wicked with Dickinson creator Alena Smith. A multi-camera comedy, the show is described as having a Bewitched-type premise and will also serve as an homage to TV sitcom classics. It examines the condition of modern adult womanhood and how even with witchcraft,...

Composer Joseph Shirley has experienced a lot of success over the last couple of years, including writing the scores for Star Wars shows “The Book of Boba Fett” and Season 3 of “The Mandalorian.” But composing music for “Creed III” was a “full circle moment,” Shirley tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview because he had worked alongside composer Ludwig Goransson on the first two “Creed” films as an assistant.
“What we wanted to do with ‘Creed III’ was to build out its texture and flavor and sound in the score that, at times, maybe is self-referential to other ‘Creed’ movies but still takes a step forward in pushing that that ‘Creed’ sound along,” Shirley says.
The third film in the blockbuster “Rocky” franchise included many firsts beyond just Shirley’s ascendance to the title of composer. “Creed III” marked the directorial debut of star Michael B. Jordan and is...

Celebrity relationships are often a point of interest for fans. This is especially the case when two stars become an item, as is the case with actors Justin Long and Kate Bosworth. Long particularly has a history of becoming romantically involved with other actors. But has the actor himself ever been engaged prior to his recent marriage proposal to Bosworth? Let’s dig in.

That’s when Us Weekly confirmed that the two actors were dating, with an unnamed source claiming they had been together for a few months at that point. There are some movies whose legacy you can't speak on without also mentioning the composers that gave them their signature sound. John Williams is just as vital to "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" as Steven Spielberg is. What would "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" even feel like without the great Ennio Morricone? In the same vein, while "Rocky," the underdog sports drama turned Best Picture winner, may be Sylvester Stallone's baby, it's impossible to imagine the triumphant highs landing as hard as they do without Bill Conti.
Conti made a career of providing the sound for "The Right Stuff," "The Karate Kid" trilogy, and all of the "Rocky" movies, barring "Rocky IV." The series had associated itself with plenty of musical talent throughout the decades, but there's something about Conti's presence, especially in that first film, that feels utterly timeless. For those who enjoyed TheClassifiedX’s contribution to the Dread X Collection in Outsiders, get ready for their newly-teased title in The Outsiders. Rather than building upon the original game that was developed in seven days, The Outsiders is a brand-new multiplayer horror experience with publisher DreadXP.
At the moment, there’s not a lot known about The Outsiders, other than the brief TikTok video shown below, which features what looks to be a labyrinthian mansion and someone sporting a futuristic laser scalpel. From the game’s Twitter page header image, it would also appear that the participants in the game are being watched by an announcer who potentially has the ability to alter the game to make things a bit more interesting.

Although Yujiro Harumoto had already sent a warning with his excellent feature debut “Going the Distance” (awarded in Tokyo International Film Festival and Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinemas) nothing could have prepared us for his second work, a truly ground-breaking movie that (finally) seems to do something completely different with the Japanese family drama. “A Balance”, where, again, he serves as producer, screenwriter, director and editor has already won awards in Busan, Pingyao and Singapore, and is now screening at 2021 Berlinale.

In honor of Women’s Equality Day (August 26), HBO Max announces the launch of its “So She Did” campaign, which champions the network’s female pioneers in front of and behind the camera.
The campaign kicks off with a film that celebrates the women who have been told they are “too much” and break all the rules to be who they authentically are.
The film features nine female-identifying talent: Jordan Alexander (“Gossip Girl”), Laura Donnelly (“The Nevers”), Susie Essman (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”), Myha’la Herrold (“Industry”), Martha Plimpton (“Generation”), Lisa Ling (CNN’s “This is Life with Lisa Ling”), Hannah Einbinder (“Hacks”), Zion Moreno (“Gossip Girl”) and Eyricka Lanvin (“Legendary”).
Ling kicks off the promo video, saying “When we were little, they told us we could be anything.”
“But when we became everything, that was too much for some folks,” Alexander chimes in. “When we push the boundaries. Sometimes the boundaries push back.

Although it still has a long way to go to catch up to Netflix, HBO Max is gradually building a reputation for both an impressive library of content and its own original programming. We now know what’s coming to HBO Max in September, and there’s plenty there for subscribers to sink their teeth into.
The big original series highlight next month is the Ridley Scott-produced Raised by Wolves, which explores two androids raising human children. Created by Adam Guzikowski, the program could be one of HBO Max’s first big hits with critics and audiences, and is set to arrive on September 3rd. Together or not, it's all love between Drew Barrymore and ex-boyfriend Justin Long. Fans may recall that the two starred together in He's Just Not That Into You and Going the Distance together and they also dated on-and-off over a decade ago. The two actors met on the set of He's Just Not That Into You in 2008 before embarking on a two year relationship that had its fair share of ups and downs. In 2010, the two rekindled their romance on the set of Going the Distance and that same year, Long accompanied Barrymore to the Golden Globe Awards but not long after that, they called it quits for good. However, a decade later, there's no bad...

Adam Shankman is set to direct “Hocus Pocus 2” for Disney+, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
“Workaholics” writer and co-producer Jen D’Angelo wrote the screenplay, while Lynn Harris will produce the film. Original “Hocus Pocus” cast members Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy are not attached, but the studio is negotiating their involvement as to not reboot the first film.

Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn made their mark together as the hosts of the reality competition TV series “Project Runway.” The Emmy-winning pair left that show to preside over another hunt for the next hot designer, “Making the Cut.” This globe-trotting series, which debuts in March on Amazon Prime Video, takes contestants to the design capitals of the world as they compete to stay in the competition.

Here's everything coming to Amazon Prime instant video in March 2020!
For its new releases in March 2020, Amazon Prime is enlisting help from some horror friends.
Yes, horror is the name of the game this month with Night of the Living Dead (albeit the 2007 version), The Crazies, and The Descent all arriving on March 1. And if that weren't enough, Pet Sematary comes a little later on on May 19. Look at Church the cat in that thumbnail image. How could you not want to watch his spooky adventures?
The Amazon original offerings are typically sparse for March 2020 but still pack some punch. Italian import ZeroZeroZero stars Gabriel Byrne and arrives on May 6. Then British import Agatha Christie's The Pale Horse comes a little later on March 13.
For what it's worth, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot debuts on March 13 so it's not all horror and all European TV all the time.

We’ve already touched base on the Netflix titles heading our way next month, but what about Amazon Prime?
Though the former is widely considered to be the undisputed heavyweight of the online streaming world, it didn’t take long for Prime to become a tantalizing prospect, no thanks to kick-ass original series like The Expanse, The Boys and The Man in the High Castle.
The real issue for the end consumer is juggling all those subscriptions, particularly now that Disney+ is live across North America (March 24th for those in the UK). Be that as it may, as February nears its end, Amazon has detailed all of the content bound for Prime in March 2020.
Among the new additions are a host of big-name horror films, including Neil Marshall’s The Descent and its creepy sequel. Best of all? Pet Sematary, the reimagining of Stephen King’s literary developed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer.

On 3 November 2019, His Majesty the Emperor of Japan conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Rayons d’Or with Rosette, to Martine Thérouanne, Director of the Vesoul International Festival of Asian Cinemas. In Japan, November 3 is the Day of Culture. This prestigious decoration, the oldest in Japan, was awarded to Thérouanne in recognition of her cultural commitment to make Japanese cinema and filmmakers known to Western audiences.
Within the 25 years of its existence, Vesoul International Festival of Asian Cinemas (Vifac) that was co-founded by Thérouanne and her husband Jean-Marc Thérouanne, has presented 200 Japanese films; among them, cult films of recognized directors and young talents, as well as masters of Japanimation.
The festival awarded fifteen prizes to Japanese films and filmmakers, including the prestigious Honorary Golden Rickshaw to Kore-eda Hirokazu at Vifac 2012, later winner of the Golden Palm at Festival de Cannes 2018.

Oliver Jackson-Cohen, the star of “The Haunting of Hill House,” is attached for the lead role in “The Invisible Man” monster movie set up at Universal and Blumhouse, an individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap.
Jackson-Cohen will star alongside the previously announced Elisabeth Moss, Aldis Hodge, Harriet Dyer and Storm Reid in the horror reboot that is set to kick off production this month in Sydney, Australia.
Johnny Depp was previously attached to star as the lead in what was once meant to be Universal’s Dark Universe of films, a shared universe of movies that incorporated new takes on Old Hollywood monster characters, with movies announced based on both “The Wolf Man” and “Bride of Frankenstein.” That franchise kicked off with the Tom Cruise vehicle “The Mummy” that also starred Russell Crowe as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

‘’Going the Distance’’ is Yujiro Harumoto’s first feature film, who is also responsible for the screenplay and the film editing. ‘’Going the Distance’’ had its world premiere on Tokyo International Film Festival’s Japanese Splash section and it’s French Premiere on Festival International des Cinemas d’Asie. This film is loosely based on the true story of the boxing trainer Shinichiro Matsuura, who also stars in the movie as Asahi.
‘’Going the distance’’ screened at Vesoul Interantional Film Festival of Asian Cinema
The story, as was already mentioned, concerns Asahi (Shinichiro Matsuura), an orphan boxing trainer at a gym, who moved to Tokyo from Goto islands and lives with his girlfriend Kaori (Yumi Endo), who is a secretary. Currently, Asahi and Kaori are preparing for their wedding, which is scheduled in six months and Kaori is hoping that her grandmother will still remember her until then, since she is suffering from dementia.

It looks like Drew Barrymore and Justin Long may be giving their relationship another shot! According to E! News, the exes have "been talking more" following his recent split from Chvrches singer Lauren Mayberry. "They are both single and they are spending time together, [but] that's all it is for now," a source told the outlet.
While most people may have a tough time staying friends with an ex, Justin and Drew reportedly have a "very special connection and bond that never went away." Drew has "a fondness for him and he's always been in her life, even if they weren't a couple." In fact, they apparently even "worked together and bounced ideas off of each other from time to time."
Drew and Justin famously dated in August 2007 and starred together in 2009's He's Just Not That Into You and 2010's Going the Distance. They eventually split in October 2010, but have...

Friendly exes Drew Barrymore and Justin Long were recently seen together at a New York hotel.
The actress, 43, met Long, 40, at the Lowell Hotel on Monday, according to Page Six. Reps for both actors have not commented.
People confirms Long has split from Chvrches frontwoman Lauren Mayberry, whom he began dating in 2016. Barrymore’s four-year marriage to Will Kopelman ended in divorce in 2016 (they have two daughters, 5½-year-old Olive and 4-year-old Frankie).
The longtime friends dated from 2007 to 2010 and also costarred in two romantic comedies together — the 2009 film He’s Just Not That Into You and 2010’s Going the Distance.

For quite some time Justin Long has been the face of the middling romantic comedy genre. The actor has led a string of relatively low-profile films about down on their luck dudes pining for lost loves and manic pixie dream girls (“Going The Distance,” “A Case Of You,” “Comet”). But while Long-fronted pictures haven’t always fared well (“Comet” was at least interesting), he has mostly managed to remain a welcome, if quantifiable presence, thus giving us reason to remain hopeful for his upcoming dramedy “Literally, Right Before Aaron,” which pairs him with the delightful Cobie Smulders.

Drew Barrymore once thought she got high whilst smoking fake marijuana on a film set.
The 42-year-old actress was shooting for 2010's 'Going The Distance' with Justin Long when she was tasked with smoking from a fake bong, but according to the prop expert Jeff Butcher, the blonde beauty believed she had actually smoked the drug, and both her and director Nanette Burstein thought she was high.
Jeff said: "There was a scene with Drew Barrymore and Justin Long where they smoke out of a bong, and it was kind of a mixed experience. [We used a] herb that looks like weed but doesn't get you high.
"I spent like an hour smoking this bong to try and make it look like a bong that had been smoked in before. And then, you know, we did the scene and Drew thought that she was high and the directors thought that she was high!

I don't usually let the accolades in the trailer sway me because anyone can say anything about anything. For instance, the worst movie ever made -- Going the Distance with Justin Long and Drew Barrymore - could have had a trailer quoting some unknown critic saying, "A cinematic wonder! Incredible! But keep in mind, I've time travelled from the far past and have never seen a movie before!" So yeah, there were a lot of captions telling me I'm going to like Under the Shadow. Those captions don't sway me, those critics could all be leprechauns, just making stuff up about rainbows and foreign movies. But it's not every day I come across a ghost story set in 1988 Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war. So I did some Internet researching (a.k.a. Googling) and everything I read reinforced my interest. It's the debut of Iranian-born filmmaker Babak Anvari. He grew...

Clip It: Each day, Jon Davis looks at the world of trailers, featurettes and clips and puts it all in perspective. In the new trailer, the battle droid K-2So (and new fan favorite?) warns Jyn Erso and her Rogue One crew that there's a "97.66% chance of failure." That's pretty bad. In fact, it's terrible. This means they won't get the plans, they are all going to die, and the whole thing is going to be a tragedy. That's a rough movie going experience (although not as rough as Going the Distance with Drew Barrymore, trust me on this). It's true that droids are not always the best at making calculations. In Empire Strikes Back, C-3P0 famously told Han Solo the "chance of successfully navigating an asteroid field was 3720 to 1." We know that Han Solo defies the odds, that's why you never give him the odds. But are droids usually wrong?...

A few years back, as part of their excellent, ongoing documentary series "30 For 30," Espn unveiled "The Price of Gold," a look at the scandal that made headlines around the world when in 1994, when figure skater Nancy Kerrigan was attacked and injured by her rival Tonya Harding. It was a story that had it all — sports, jealousy, high stakes intrigue — but as the documentary by Nanette Burnstein ("Going The Distance," "American Teen") revealed, there was even more going on beneath the surface. Now, the tale will be dramatized in "I, Tonya" with a rather interesting choice for the lead. Deadline reports that Margot Robbie will take the role of Tonya Harding in the picture. Screenwriter Steve Rogers interviewed Harding and her husband Jeff Gillooly as he put together his script, getting the perspective of an athlete who was well outside the wealthy world that Olympians are often part of. However, Harding was also.

The Coens have had such a rich and varied career that it is impossible to pin them down to one style or one theme or one type of storytelling. Some people love their comedies. Some people love it when they get dark. Some people love the underdogs, the least-liked of their films. But what's clear is that every film they've made has its fans, and even their worst films are beloved by someone. We have the highlights of what's coming and going from HBO Now and HBO Go in January 2020.
A new year will eventually mean a new HBO with the release of HBO Max. But for now HBO Now and HBO Go continue on and are putting their best foot forward with the HBO new releases for January 2020.
Comedy is the name of the game for the HBO originals in January 2020. Larry David returns as Curb Your Enthusiasm season 10 premieres on January 19. Veep creator Armando Iannucci takes his satirical ways to space with Avenue 5 the same night. The New Pope is...sort of a comedy and arrives on January 13. The Stephen King series The Outsider is very much not a comedy but it will come to HBO on January 12 all the same.
The list of movies coming to HBO in January 2020 are surprisingly action-packed as well. John Wick...

Going the Distance: Marques-Marcet Explores the Strain of Separation
An exploration of the effects an extended period of long distance has on the stability of a once functioning relationship the core of 10,000 Km. Its title suggests an arbitrary estimate of the distance between the two particular locales, but besides suggesting the rather unhelpful capabilities of staying connected via social media, Spanish director Carlos Marques-Marcet does little to enhance a basic scenario enlivened by vague characterizations of pretty young things unable to conquer the challenges posed by unavoidable time apart. What is of more interest is perhaps the particular effect the scenario seems to have on its audiences. Many of us can relate to similar relationship woes, where absence certainly makes the heart grow fonder, but absence without a concrete date of return can inspire the opposite effect. And thus, the general colorless palette of this heterosexual couple here allows...

Matthew McConaughey turns 45 on Nov. 4. So what do you get a guy like McConaughey for his birthday, anyway? Well, without realizing it, Kate Hudson and Jim Carrey recently teamed up to honor Hollywood's most talented bro in the exact same way: with impressions of him. First, while presenting at an American Cinematheque gala honoring McConaughey, Hudson let loose with her take on his trademark drawl as she experienced it on the set of their movie Fool's Gold. Then, while hosting SNL, Carrey offered the world his impression of McConaughey with a three-part parody of the actor's stream-of-consciousness Lincoln commercials. Two...

The mutants ruled the multiplex over Memorial Day weekend. "X-Men: Days of Future Past" shot to the top of the box-office heap over the holiday, bringing in $91.4 million Friday-Sunday and an estimated $111 million Friday-Monday in over 4,000 locations, making it the second-largest opening of any "X-Men" film behind only "X-Men: The Last Stand." That Brett Ratner-directed threequel brought in $102.8 million over Memorial Day weekend 2006 (and $122.8 million over all four days). Among more recent entries in the "X-Men" franchise, "Days of Future Past" was a vast improvement on 2011's "X-Men: First Class" ($55.1 million opening) as well as last summer's "The Wolverine" ($53.1 million), while among Memorial Day weekend openers it ranks fifth of all-time behind 2007's "Pirates of the Caribbean: The World's End," 2008's "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," "X-Men: The Last Stand" and last summer's "Fast & Furious 6." As compared with other superhero entries this year, "Days...

They found love with each other in the last year, and now, Amanda Seyfried and Justin Long spend their Monday nights watching other people look for love on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Seyfried stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday to promote A Million Ways to Die in the West, and while there, she opened up about her low-key love life with the Going the Distance actor. "We do everything together," the 28-year-old actress said. Seyfried then clarified, "But, we don't do much." "We walk my dog. We make these smoothies in the morning—they're called 'Greenies.' He got me into that. Super healthy," Seyfried shared. "And then we watch The Bachelor and The...

It’s not possible to define or categorize the work of writer-director Michael Almereyda in simple terms. Turning in interesting, arresting film work since the early 1980s, across a number of disciplines, he moves between genres with ease and develops passionate projects. Up until now, his most well-known film has been 2000′s Hamlet, starring Ethan Hawke, although that may well change once his upcoming project, The Experimenter, is in the can.
Starring Peter Sarsgaard (Blue Jasmine), the film tells the story of famous social psychologist Stanley Milgram, who designed the Obedience Experiments at Yale University in 1961. The experiments observed the responses of people who were made to believe they were sending painful electric shocks to strangers. The producers of this independent project – Uri Singer, Fabio Golombek, Aimee Schoof and Isen Robbins – explained that The Experimenter will encompass much more than just one set of research, however:
“The experiments were about conformity and authority,...
