The Flash season 6 has finally concluded its run. It was a few episodes earlier than we had expected or hopes, thanks to a Covid-19 related production shutdown, but it still managed to be the best overall season of the show in years.
Whether it was Barry’s sharp new Flash costume, new showrunner Eric Wallace, the way the series was rocked by the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths, the way this season is put the women of Team Flash and the Central City Citizen front and center, or just the most compelling villains we’ve seen since season three, The Flash Season 6 was a winner.

The Flash has always known how to take it's audience through a myriad of emotions, but the complexities shown in this episode was superb.
The Flash Season 6 Episode 4 was a journey from melancholy over Barry's news to complete horror over Russo's actions.
That demonstrates that Flash is best when juggling a series of tones in one episode.
The juxtaposition between Russo's and Barry's acceptance of death created a great dynamic that will surely carry throughout the season.
Barry's acceptance of death and willingness to do good with his time left on Earth truly proves his status as a hero. Not that we had any doubts!
Related: The Flash Season 6 Episode 3: Dead Man Running
In contrast, Russo is willing to kill innocent people to extend his life. He becomes more affected by the dark matter and convinces himself that his purpose is to gain immortality.

In the past few weeks alone, we’ve gotten confirmation on both Wonder Woman and Robin existing within the Arrowverse. Actually, each of those factoids came via Batwoman, so it comes as no surprise that the usually Easter egg-filled The Flash counter with something amazing in its own right.
If you tuned in for last night’s episode, “Dead Man Running,” then you’ve already met the latest iteration of Harrison Wells to be played by Tom Cavanagh. As it turns out, this guy is named “Harrison Nash Wells,” and he’s an adventurer from elsewhere in the multiverse.
To get specific, he’s come to Earth-1 in search of an element called Eternium. At first, he thought Iris West-Allen was rich with it for some reason, but the closing scene showed him seemingly discovering a large deposit of it in the sewers of Central City. The whole situation forces...

It was a mostly stable night on the broadcast networks, with some shows perking up in the ratings.
New Amsterdam on NBC was up to 5.2 million total viewers and a 0.9 rating, hitting its best demo number since its season premiere in September.
This Is Us Season 4 Episode 5 was also up a tenth from last week's season low to 7 million viewers and a 1.6 rating.
This season is very different for the drama, but are you on board with all the new characters?
Opening the night for NBC was The Voice, which was steady with 8 million viewers and a 1.3 rating.
Are you still keeping up with this series or are you growing tired of singing competitions?
ABC went with It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. It had 5 million viewers and a 1.2 rating, coming in on par with what The Conners has been doing in the slot.

This week on The Flash, Barry told the rest of the team the truth — in pieces — about the coming Crisis, while also having his first face-off with this fall’s Big Bad.
This week I come not to so much recap Episode 3 but opine that it was frankly a letdown following such a strong start to “Graphic Novel No. 1” (aka the episodes preceding the “Crisis” crossover event). It just seemed odd to come out of this season’s dramatically rich and emotion-laden first two episodes with such a lighter outing, and not really dig into the team’s reaction to inevitably losing their leader.

Harrison Wells returns to The Flash looking for Eternium, which may confirm Shazam in the Arrowverse.
Holy moley, did The Flash season 6 episode 3, "Dead Man Running" just confirm the presence of Shazam in the Arrowverse? The short answer is...maybe. But there's a longer answer.
We finally meet this season's version of Harrison Wells in "Dead Man Running." In this case, he's "Nash" Wells, an interdimensional Indiana Jones, gathering artifacts from across the multiverse. And he's searching for an article that contains particles of "Eternium" which Wells describes as "a multiversal element."
The only mention of "Eternium" in DC Comics lore comes from a 1998 issue of Legion of Super-Heroes. That story, which focused on bringing the future Shazam character Thunder into the orbit of the Legion, opens with the destruction of the Rock of Eternity, home of Shazam, the Wizard, and the source of all magic in the DC Universe.

The Flash Season 6 Episode 3
Remember how last week I said that I was worried that The Flash went straight from zero to mustache twirling villain too quickly with Dr. Ramsey Rosso? I might have been wrong. “Dead Man Running” puts in a lot of work to make Rosso’s journey more engaging and believable, and it does it in the course of an episode that covers a lot of ground in other areas, too. Not to spoil the rest of my review ahead of time, but The Flash season 6 is three-for-three right now, and I’m starting to feel pretty confident about where things are headed.
For the third week in a row, I’m compelled to talk about the overall tonal balance of this season so far.

As much as I’ve loved The Flash, it’s been well-documented that I didn’t really care for season 4. Still, that broadcast year did produce at least a few bright spots, one of them being Danny Trejo’s Breacher. Long story short, he was the interdimensional bounty hunter father of Gypsy, and had a knack for being a pain in the neck to her boyfriend, Cisco Ramon.
Considering how Cisco and Gypsy are no longer an item and the former has a new lady in his life, that doesn’t necessarily mean there isn’t room for Breacher. With the coming Crisis looming, the Star Labs crew could certainly use a man of his talents.
Well, thanks to the official synopsis for episode 6×05, “Kiss Kiss Breach Breach,” we know exactly when Breacher will return:
Danny Trejo Guest Stars – Cisco’s (Carlos Valdes) faith in his ability to fill Barry...

Now that the sixth season of The Flash is finally underway, we can get back to our weekly routine of spending quality time with the likes of Barry Allen, Caitlin Snow, Cisco Ramon and whatever version of Harrison Wells the multiverse throws our way. Hey, this week’s premiere may not have been as strong as the previous year’s, but I’d say this season is still off to a very strong start.
And much like you’d expect them to, the network has been pumping out preview images well in advance of each episode’s respective air dates. Already, we’ve gotten a glimpse at Jay Garrick’s return in 6×02, and now we get to see what 6×03 has in store.
In this case, the ominously titled “Dead Man Running” is being put under the microscope. If anything alarming does happen, we’re not getting much hint of it here.

In just a matter of hours from the time of this writing, The Flash will have returned for its highly anticipated sixth season. When you stop to think about it, time has really flown by, as it seems like just yesterday this show kicked off. But even with a handful of years behind it, this fan favorite displays no signs of slowing down.
Now, as we join Barry Allen on the next leg in his incredible journey, it’ll quickly become apparent that Oliver Queen isn’t the only one having to deal with a lot heading into “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” With the timeline having been accelerated, the Scarlet Speedster is being forced to come to grips with the fact that he’ll vanish before long.
That said, it’s difficult not finding the official synopsis for “Dead Man Running” to be the slightest bit foreboding. Here, check it...

Produced by Rio Ferdinand, this story of a rough-and-tumble weekend league descends into an aimless kickabout
A decade on from teaming Danny Dyer, 50 Cent and Brenda Blethyn for 2009’s bargain-bin circler Dead Man Running, Rio Ferdinand re-enters the world of lowish-budget film production with a quasi-real time drama centred on those lads and lasses (mostly lads) drawn to the rough-and-tumble of the Hackney Marshes’ weekend leagues. Yet despite the title’s ticking clock, writer-director Simon Baker’s mud-bound mosaic exhibits a shambling quality that suggests a slacker Slacker, passing the ball from character to character without ever quite doing anything especially interesting with it. An hour in, two spectators – in an echo of those ads for McCain’s – start pondering whether it’s chips for tea. Play is rather shruggingly abandoned at the 86-minute mark. One way or another, you emerge short-changed.
Baker does deserve some credit for wrong-footing us.

The Flash season 6 is here! That means way more speedster shenanigans and time-traveling adventures with Barry Allen and his team at Star Labs.
But there will be some changes in the new season, and we're not just talking about Barry's sharp new Flash costume! Current showrunner Todd Helbing was replaced by Eric Wallace.
"From his first day on The Flash, Todd Helbing has been a leader on the show, beloved by the cast and crew for his exceptional talent, vision and wonderful attitude. We are all sad to see him go, but we will all be better for the many shows he will no doubt create and run in the future," The Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti said in a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter). Poundland has been selling Blu-rays! And we've been buying and watching them! Tornado Warning, anyone?
I’ve covered the DVD section of Poundland before. I love it, even if I do only ever get around to watching about half of the discs I buy.
Unfortunately, hunting for DVDs in Poundland has become a bit of a dead sport. It’s partly because streaming services like Netflix have given us even easier access to weird films that might turn out to be rubbish. It’s also because Poundland have taken to stocking used DVDs, meaning they have a lot of big Hollywood films that are the same thing you could buy anywhere. That’s not what I go to Poundland for. I’m shopping for strangeness! Not only that, this Den of Geek writer has some very mild issues with germs and can’t really cope with touching second-hand DVDs.

Without the help of some brave investors, or the pockets of their makers, the following films would never have existed...
It's now a fairly common mantra that you'd be a fool to put up all of your own personal money into a feature film. By all means invest, but share the risk, or throw a few quid at Kickstarter.
Paying for the bulk of the negative/hard drive yourself, and leaving your own assets exposed? Utter lunacy.
Not that anyone told this lot...

For some time, Mel Gibson had, alongside his acting roles, been heavily invested in his production company, Icon. As such, he had two significant ways to earn money, and he needed both of them when it came to making The Passion Of The Christ.

It is a fine and sunny day in Los Angeles, just like every day in Los Angeles, a sprawling metropolis testament to human ambition and resolute failure. Somewhere downtown, a broad-shouldered rapper-cum-actor emerges from an SUV and approaches a non-descript building. He nods at the receptionist then takes the lift to the fourth floor. Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson strolls into his agent’s office, the world at his feet and creativity oozing from his every pore.
“Fiddy!” shrieks his agent, a small, balding and tanned white man. “How can I help my favourite client today?”
Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson sits in a chair opposite his agent’s desk and eyeballs the man for a few seconds before speaking in articulate and measured tones. “Lenny. I need to do another movie.”

There’s a whole heap of new direct to DVD movies hitting both DVD and Blu-ray over the next couple of months so we thought we’d take a look at a handful of the most interesting, including sci-fi horror 51, sequel Street Kings 2, and the latest movies from Stone Old Steve Austin and Bruce WIllis: Born to FIght and Setup.

*full disclosure: a screener of this film was provided by Phase 4 Films.
Director/writer: Neil Johnson.
Cast: Katharine McEwan, Don Scribner, Rochelle Vallese and DeeDee Bigelow.
Here is another entry into the alien invasion film genre with Alien Armageddon. This film follows Neil Johnson's previous film titled Nephilim (2007). This title recently had a World Premiere through video-on-demand August 1st. Phase 4 Films released this title and this reviewer wishes they had not. Perhaps the low production values did not deliver the film's message adequately. However, one message is clear to this film reviewer: Alien Armageddon is a really poor executed film. This film is one half prison drama and one half sci-fi melodrama. Neither of these genres really create much enthusiasm over here at 28Dla. So, in the end, Alien Armageddon introduces a new alien species with some weak acting, poorly dressed sets and an Anglo-Norma plotline that has been done better,...

To mark the release of Anuvahood on DVD and Blu-ray 4th July, Revolver have given us three copies of the DVD to give away along with a t-shirt and a stickers.
Following the recent conveyor belt of gritty and dramatic urban films, Anuvahood is a comedic coming of age story that adds a refreshing air of levity to the urban genre. Shot on-location in West-London, Anuvahood is a hysterical trip through London’s concrete jungle; featuring a host of colourful, comical characters along the way where their well-intentioned antics inevitably result in hysterical consequences.
Deacon brings together a strong ensemble cast of both rising and established British talent, including Femi Oyeniran (Kidulthood/Shank), Ollie Barbieri (Skins), Jazzie Zonzolo , Michael Vu, Richie Campbell (The Silence/The Firm), Linda Robson (Birds Of A Feather) and Jaime Winstone (Kidulthood/Made In Dagenham), with cameos from Ashley Walters (Bullet Boy/Dead Man Running), Perry Benson...

Danny Dyer has described a quarter of the movies he's starred in as "s**t". The Age of Heroes actor, whose previous credits include Human Traffic, The Football Factory and Dead Man Running, insisted that he is "proud" of his career and being able to find regular work in the UK. Dyer told Digital Spy: "I've had a good run. I've made over 40 films. I'd say a quarter of them are s**t, another quarter are all right and I'd say half of them have got something to say. Luis Prieto is currently shooting the remake of Nicolas Winding Refn.s (Bronson, Drive) classic 1996 film. The exciting tale of life on the streets follows character Frank, through his drug exploits and down into despair, when his life is no longer appealing, or profitable.

Frank.s life is a fun-filled rollercoaster of a ride that soon spins out of control. Friendships start to vanish, there is no longer room for love within his life, and violence takes over.

Steve Martin, James Gunn and others contributed to the collective obituaries for the comedian and actor, though Gunn's memories may be pretty unique in the scheme of things. 50 Cent is refusing to cut his hair until he finishes his next album. The rapper-and-actor is currently recording his fifth studio LP, tentatively entitled "The Return of the Heartless Monster", and he is abandoning his usual shaven-headed look until all the songs are complete.
"Curtis not cutting hair until my album is done I'm going hard this time f**k it," 50, real name Curtis Jackson, wrote on his Twitter page accompanying a picture of his fledgling new style. "My music is crazy right now. (sic)"
50 is hoping to recreate the success of his debut album, "Get Rich or Die Tryin", with his new release after concentrating on acting for the past couple of years.
The "In da Club" rapper, who has appeared in several movies, including "Righteous Kill" and "Dead Man Running", added in another tweet, "My first album get rich or die trying was the greatest show on earth...
