Powerful
Sleepin_Dragon18 October 2018
This is a very hard hitting episode which stays with you, admittedly the way they contrive Leo's involvement in the scenario is a little far fetched, but the remainder of the story is harrowing, but relevant today, particularly in light of today's news that murder figures have increased significantly, scary. It has a grim realism, and shows how life is for people trapped in gangs.

Well acted, well produced, it's a very strong story for Leo, the whole Doctor Lion things adds a bit of humour to what is overall a bleak story. Good early work also for the excellent Daniel Kaluuya.

Tough watch, but it is an excellent opener. 9/10

Good separation between police work and forensics
I have been critical of past episodes for making the pathologists more like deputized police. Maybe the characters gravitate toward that crime-solving role but there is a line not to be crossed. This episode has found the balance. Forensic pathologists really solving crimes via pathology. Other reviewers have commented on the grim portrayal of gang reality. No argument here, but this episode is staying true to the title, Silent Witness. Previous episode highlighted Creutzfeld-Jacob Disease and this one Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Excellent writing.

Harsh Reality of Gang Life
Hitchcoc23 March 2019
Leo gets community service for a DUI. While working with the poor black youth, he finds himself in the middle of a gang war. A young woman is killed at an amusement park, so that is the specific case. But it is much more about this awful culture. One young man is the focus. A former gang member, he wants to keep his younger brother out. It's not easy.

Leo gets forty hour community service...and in that time a girl is murdered at the fun fare...then a young boy is shot ..a young boy gets roped into dealing and his brother is murdered.. then a Somalian is murdered and the the young brother is murdered ... all this happened before Leo had done his forty hours...and they got DNA from a dead girls featus,Tox,blood results not only from the human bodies but a dog..... and an arrest...in real life it would be impossible.
