CBS canceled a lot of popular shows this season. They canceled Blue Bloods, NCIS: Hawai’i, and CSI: Vegas. They also announced they will bring back S.W.A.T., but only for one more season. The reason the network execs gave was that they wanted to “freshen” things up and hope viewers would like the new shows replacing the beloved canceled series.
One way to do that is by adding in another franchise show, but this one will be very different from everything that came before. CSI: Miami is coming back in a new format.
CBS Bringing Back CSI: Miami As A Different Show
CBS has offered up some replacements for the departing shows, but it remains to be seen if fans care enough to buy into the new ones. For example, NCIS: Hawai’i is going away, but a show called NCIS: Origins is replacing it. For Blue Bloods, CBS is bringing in...

Max is in danger, and Chris is unconscious.
For a series on its last episode after a recent cancellation order, CSI: Vegas threw viewers straight into the action from the opening scene.
As fans say goodbye to the CSI team we've grown fond of for the last three years, CSI: Vegas Season 3 Episode 10 gave fans a conflicting farewell.
The revolving theme for this season has been the AI robots. Max still has Ocho in her lab from CSI: Vegas Season 3 Episode 5, "It Was Automation."

But on the last episode of the series, fans got the best misdirect we've seen in a while.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers from “Tunnel Vision,” the series finale of “CSI: Vegas,” which aired on May 19, and is now streaming on Paramount+.
“Things are about to go kaboom.” That’s what Beau (Lex Medlin) says on Sunday night’s series finale of “CSI: Vegas” as he prepares to detonate a series of bombs. But he might be describing everyone’s minds, as the show’s characters discover midway through the episode (“Tunnel Vision”) that they’ve been chasing the wrong villain all season.
With Max (Paula Newsome) kidnapped and Chris (Jay Lee) injured by some sort of nerve agent and in the hospital, the “CSI” team continues to place the blame on tech billionaire Truman Thomas (Owain Yeoman) — until they find his dead body.
It’s actually an entirely different villainous group that has taken Max through the 600 miles of flood channels that lie beneath Las Vegas.

Spoiler Alert! This story contains details from the series finale of CSI: Vegas on CBS.
Like what happened to So Help Me Todd, CSI: Vegas didn’t get a chance to wrap up its three-season run on CBS with any grand gestures or heartfelt goodbyes.
The procedural, which was a followup to the 2000 CSI series, was canceled in April so there was no time to throw together a satisfying ending. So anyone who wanted to see where Maxine’s (Paula Newsome) relationship with Dean was going will have to live with disappointment.
At least there was some positives in the episode dubbed “Tunnel Vision”: Max survived her kidnapping by a Saudi big bad (Faran Tahir) who stole intelligence from Truman Thomas’ secret lab. Chris (Jay Lee) regained consciousness after he was exposed to a nerve agent. Penny (Sarah Gilman) set a wedding date with Jack (Joel Johnstone), and Josh...

Hey, "CSI: Vegas" fans. We hope you guys totally enjoyed episode 10 tonight, especially since it will most certainly be the last episode of CSI: Vegas that you'll ever see forever. Yep, tonight's episode 10 was not only the season finale episode, but also the series finale. According to the folks over at Deadline.com, CBS decided to go ahead and cancel CSI: Vegas last month in April 2024. It joined the other group of casualties over at CBS: NCIS: Hawaii and So Help Me Todd. All of these shows performed pretty well, but the CBS line up of shows are just so competitive, right now, that they were just not good enough to make the cut. Plus, CBS decided to bring on some new shows, which also thinned the funding that is left to go around.

This year, several television shows have been canceled much to the chagrin of fans. Several of them were popular shows that still got good ratings. However, some of them also didn’t get proper endings. An example is CSI: Vegas, which will end with several cliffhangers. Another show this happened to was So Help Me Todd.
Fans have lashed out at the network about the show’s ending and here is what you need to know.
So Help Me Todd Ends Series With Cliffhanger
When CBS explained why it was canceling shows like Blue Bloods, the network said it needed to “freshen up” the schedule by adding new shows. That means some fan-favorite shows had to end. However, they also said that they wanted to allow the shows to end on notes that ended the stories.

When CBS announced it was canceling CSI: Vegas, it didn’t warn the showrunners. This means that fans won’t be happy when watching the season finale, knowing the show is ending. One of the show’s stars said “major cliffhangers” are in the finale that will never be resolved.
Here is what fans can expect from the CSI: Vegas finale.
CSI: Vegas To End With Unanswered Questions

However, they left after one season and the hope was that fans would latch onto the new cast. After three seasons, “We’re going out with a bang,” says CSI: Vegas showrunner Jason Tracey as the CSIs at the Crime Lab work the last case we’ll see on the CBS drama on May 19. “There’s never been a more personal case on CSI: Vegas. Following the explosion at the bio lab in the penultimate episode, Chris (Jay Lee) has been left unconscious and Max (Paula Newsome) abducted while calling Catherine (Marg Helgenberger). “Nobody is safe,” the showrunner warns. CBS has been “freshening” up its lineup by canceling some fan-favorite shows and replacing them with new versions, hoping fans will happily switch to the new shows. CBS canceled Blue Bloods to add more to the Fire Country franchise. It is also canceling NCIS: Hawai’i and replacing it with NCIS: Origins. Now, they are replacing CSI: Vegas as well.
Here is a look at what is coming next for the CSI franchise.
CBS Bringing New CSI Series To Summer Season
CBS announced several shows that they canceled and some were not only fan favorites but were also successful in the ratings. Things started out exciting when CBS brought back CSI: Vegas because it saw Gil Grissom (William Peterson) and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) return. However, they only lasted one season and the new cast had to carry the series.
After three seasons and 39 episodes, the ratings continued to be strong.

Triggering memories seemed to be the theme of Will Trent Season 2 Episode 8.
The series has delved into Will's childhood this season, and it finally revealed the traumatic event that he had blocked out for years.
Elsewhere, when Michael and Angie investigated an Army Ranger's death, it brought up some feelings about Michael's time in the military.
We haven't even started discussing how important Lily's case was since she had been missing for 13 years, and certain clues from her case triggered Will.
As mentioned in the Will Trent Spoilers, Lily's case reminded me of The Promise episode from CSI: Vegas because no one initially took her disappearance seriously, and the trail went cold.
There are 60,000 missing Black women in this country. We’re going to get justice for this one.

“CSI: Vegas” may be canceled, but CBS isn’t giving up on the franchise. The Eye network announced Tuesday a new edition in the “CSI” universe — but this time in the unscripted space.
CBS has ordered the unscripted, true-crime docuseries “The Real CSI: Miami” based on the drama “CSI: Miami,” which aired from 2002 to 2012 (for 10 seasons and 232 episodes). The new series is set to release on CBS on June 26 at 10 p.m. Et. The news came as CBS announced its summer lineup.
The logline for “The Real CSI: Miami” reads, “Each episode features gripping real-life crime cases and the cutting-edge forensic science used to solve them. ‘The Real CSI: Miami’ highlights that at the heart of every story is a victim and a family seeking justice.”
The news of another “CSI” show being ordered comes after the last show in the franchise “CSI: Vegas” announced its cancellation in April after three seasons.

CSI: Miami is getting the docuseries treatment.
CBS has ordered an unscripted series based on its iconic crime drama – The Real CSI: Miami.
It comes from CSI creator Anthony Zuiker, Jerry Bruckheimer, who has produced the franchise and Nailed It! and Top Chef producer Magical Elves.
The series will feature real-life crime cases and the cutting-edge forensic science used to solve them.
CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach recently teased that there was another CSI project in development. She said that the CBS brand was “part of its legacy as a company”. “I definitely think that franchise is alive and well will continue to be in discussions we have,” she said. “I think that ultimately we’ll find different and interesting ways to bring the show back.”

Viewers of the TV shows know that even if the series you are watching is holding the bar and collecting decent ratings, it is not safe and can be canceled at any time without explanation. This is what happened to So Help Me Todd, a show which has its second season coming to an end and marking its finale.
The show follows former private investigator Todd, who is hired by his own mother, Margaret, a successful attorney, as her firm's in-house investigator. Their working methods are radically different: Margaret is a perfectionist, strictly following the law, while Todd is chaotic, inclined to interpret the law flexibly in his favor, but at the same time he is a masterful information seeker, charming and savvy.
So Help Me Todd Was Canceled Before Season 3 Due to Low Ratings
Although So Help Me Todd has found its audience, it was not enough to keep the show on the air.

While the media giants may have anticipated that the poor conditions and exploitation of film and television workers would cause uproar and discontent, they did not anticipate the magnitude of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that have kept writers and actors on the picket lines for more than half a year. And even now, six months later, the entertainment industry is feeling the fallout, especially the traditional broadcast networks. They have still not been able to fully restore their 2024 schedules.
The situation at CBS is particularly striking. After last year's drought in new scripted series, viewer demand for shows old and new is as strong as ever, leading to the renewal of popular projects and the announcement of many new ones.
And yet, along with the numerous positive updates, fans were also faced with the disappointing news that the fall season will not see the renewal of shows like CSI: Vegas,...

Check out all the finale dates for the 2023-2024 season still to come below, and keep checking as we’ll be updating it as more are announced. Thursday, May 2 8:31 p.m.: Ghosts (CBS) ...

We're in the last three episodes of Will Trent's shortened Season 2, so expect things to get intense and chaotic, at least with the cases.
The spoilers for Will Trent Season 2 Episode 8 tease that as the Gbi investigates the cold case of a girl who disappeared 13 years ago, it triggers more flashbacks of Will's childhood trauma.
As Will deals with his memories, he and Angie try to rebuild their relationship in a healthier way, so it's more than a trauma bond.
In the main story, the Gbi locates the body of a missing girl, Lily Watkins. She's been missing for 13 years, so this case overwhelms everyone.
Her murder sounds brutal since she was strangled, but she fought back.
Amanda mentions in the weekly promo that 60,000 Black women are missing in the United States, and that sounded very much like The Promise episode from CSI: Vegas when the team found the body...

The viewing public learned of CSI: Vegas's end on April 19.
Its cancellation by CBS really shouldn't have come as a shock. Its middling ratings have made it a bubble show throughout its entire run.
CSI: Vegas had every opportunity to thrive. It first aired in 2021, amid a wistful revival craze as a nation coming out of a pandemic sought comfort viewing.
In that first season, odd couple Gil Grissom (William Peterson) and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) returned to break a conspiracy smearing the former crime lab's reputation.
At the same time, this generation's CSI lab, led by Maxine Roby (Paula Newsome), solved new cases like the former criminologists that viewers had loved for 16 seasons, only with newer, fancier gadgets to do the work.
Marg Helgenberger's Catherine Willows has fit seamlessly with the current squad over the past two seasons.
Like a legacy at any institution, the series was given time to find its way.

CBS is finally offering fans of its now-canceled shows some answers about its decision to put an end to their favorite series. Specifically, network bosses George Cheeks and Amy Reisenbach revealed to the press (via Deadline) why it decided not to renew NCIS: Hawai’i. “We had some tough choices this year,” Reisenbach said, citing an “embarrassment of riches” when it came to original programming. However, the execs noted that they made these cuts “to keep the schedule fresh and keep the momentum going.” The execs also confirmed that there is no chance of resurrection for NCIS: Hawai’i (nor fellow canceled shows So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas) at CBS or Paramount+. NCIS: Hawai’i‘s cancellation led to an outcry of disappointment from Hawai’i lead Vanessa Lachey and NCIS star Rocky Carroll. Lachey, for example, openly mourned the decision on social media by writing, “Gutted, confused, blindsided. Grateful, confident,...

CBS today became the first broadcast network to present its fall schedule. And, in line with CBS’ new strategy for long-term development and planning, the network announced its schedule for the entire 2024-25 season. At the unveiling of the schedule, George Cheeks, President and CEO of CBS, said that they have contingency plans should a work stoppage occur but wouldn’t elaborate further. “If we need to delay, we are ready,” he said.

CBS executives were keenly aware of the elephant in the room Thursday as new co-ceo George Cheeks and entertainment president Amy Reisenbach opened their fall schedule presentation by addressing the latest rumblings in the sale process of parent company Paramount Global.
“It’s a super quiet, uneventful week for us,” Cheeks quipped as he kicked off the hourlong presentation just moments after news broke that Sony and Apollo submitted a $26 billion cash offer to buy Paramount Global.
Other than addressing morale — “we’ve all locked arms” and are “focusing on what we can control,” Cheeks said — both execs spent the press briefing at the Paramount offices in Hollywood focused on CBS and its 2024-25 schedule.
Cheeks and Reisenbach opened with a victory lap of sorts as CBS finished the strikes-impacted 2023-24 in first place, breaking a decades-old record set by the network with 16 straight season victories and 21 of the past 22 years.

Other than addressing morale — “we’ve all locked arms” and are “focusing on what we can control,” Cheeks said — both execs spent the press briefing at the Paramount offices in Hollywood focused on CBS and its 2024-25 schedule.

If you read the headline and are asking yourselves, pilots? what pilots? — you are not wrong. It’s been largely a 2024 pilot season without pilots. A grand total of maybe one of them is expected to factor into any fall decisions as the broadcast networks prepare to unveil their schedules, starting with CBS tomorrow, May 2.
Needless to say, the broadcast pilot season is no longer the industry obsession it once was this time of year, with back-to-back disruptions from the pandemic and the dual Hollywood strikes providing the proverbial final nail in the coffin of the decades-old pilot cycle. But for tradition’s sake, here are some insights into the networks’ current development plans.
There is no more stacked lineup for next season than CBS’ with three new drama series, Young Gibbs prequel NCIS: Origins; Matlock, starring Kathy Bates; and Watson, headlined by Morris Chestnut; and two new comedies, Poppa’s House,...

CBS has been quite brutal with its most successful shows officially cutting off big hits like NCIS: Hawai’i, CSI: Vegas and, more notably, So Help Me Todd. The cancellation news took the fans completely off guard leaving them to wonder why the high-rated show was eventually scrapped so unfairly.
Driven to the extremes, some even created a public petition pleading the channel to finally listen to the people who wanted nothing but to get their favorite series back.
Despite such a persistence worthy of everyone’s respect, the whole social media fuss has quite low chances to ever resurrect So Help Me Todd on CBS given that the main reason for its cancellation doesn’t really have to do with its high ratings.
The good news here is that the long-suffering show may be easily picked up by another studio thanks to the fans’ activities.
Will So Help Me Todd Be Revived?...

The end of the TV season is always heartbreaking.
Not only do our favorites wrap up for the season, but some shows end forever. And the 2024 season is one of the worst ever.
There are at least seven series ending that we don't want to say goodbye to, but the finales are coming up fast.
The 2024 season was more heartbreaking than most. The season was truncated because of the WGA writers' and Sga-aftra actors' strikes.
Many beloved shows had short seasons of 10-13 episodes, and some with even fewer new shows. There have been long hiatuses that seemed to begin almost as soon as shows finally started airing. Worst of all, many series cancelations were announced just as shows began airing.
There was a bloodbath over at many networks, but CBS had the highest number of casualties, with five of the seven shows we're most heartbroken about leaving that network.
