Skyrim has received more than 200 Game of the Year awards ever since its initial release in 2011. It has transitioned into a cultural phenomenon and has transcended beyond gaming. More than 60 million people have played Skyrim, and it is still getting new players every year.

Skyrim’s open fantasy world is full of giants, elves, dragons, potions, spells, swords, and spears. When it first came out, it was looked upon as the nerdiest game on the market, which it still is; nevertheless, it soon became a criterion for the video game industry and has been re-released on every platform and console imaginable, which its predecessor, Morrowind, failed to do.

Avowed, the highly anticipated spiritual successor to the Elder Scrolls games is almost here. Thanks to the recent Xbox showcase, we got better glimpses into the gameplay, some combat, dialogue and Npc interaction, and more.
However, it looks like a lot more exciting features were left out from the reveal than we initially thought. If you were on the fence about the game until now, these key aspects finally convince you to make the plunge.
Avowed Could Outdo Bethesda’s Games with These Features
Avowed could leave an unmistakable impact on the RPG genre.
Bethesda holds the crown for having some of the best and most immersive first-person open-world RPG games, despite these titles being over a decade ago.
Fallout is known as Bethesda’s IP, but the maker of Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment, has a very deep history with the franchise and made New Vegas.

X-men '97 Scores TCA Nomination For Outstanding New Program Alongside Shogun, Ripley & Baby Reindeer
The Television Critics Association announced their picks for the best shows of the 2023-2024 TV season on Monday, and in a pleasantly surprising development, Marvel Studios' recent Disney+ series, X-Men '97, picked up two significant nominations.
The animated revival scored nominations for Outstanding New Program and Outstanding Achievement in Family Programming.
Though X-Men '97 proved to be a big hit with fans and critics alike, it's rare that an animated series - and a superhero animated series at that - would receive any TCA recognition, especially outside of the Children's Programming category.
What are the mutant heroes' chances of picking up the win? Well, the show is up against some heavy hitters such as Shōgun, Baby Reindeer and Ripley, so, fittingly, they are the underdogs here.
Former showrunner Beau DeMayo shared the following post in response to the news.

Beau DeMayo’s relationship with X-Men ’97 has certainly been an interesting one. Even though the writer and creator was heavily involved in making the series as good as it is, he was fired by Marvel Studios ahead of its premiere. Despite this, he has been very vocal in interviews and on social media about the series in the best ways possible.
Beau DeMayo I via beau_demayo Instagram
He has revealed behind-the-scenes information to fans, mentioned the intentions behind certain decisions in the show, and even talked about the next season. Even though he was fired from the series, he continued to treat it as the passion project that it was for him.
Knowing this, it is not surprising that he would comment when the show hits a serious achievement in the world of Hollywood.

The Fallout franchise has seen a revival thanks to the Prime Video series, prompting a whole player base to try the games. Fallout 76 has also seen new players, and Bethesda Game Studios has now announced a franchise-first feature with its upcoming Skyline Valley update.
There are several exciting things the update will add, but the standout is the ability to play as the Ghoul, which was a fan favorite due to Walton Goggins’ performance. While fans are excited, there are several disadvantages that may not make the experience as good as they are hoping.

Few titles in the gaming industry carry the same legacy as Fallout. With its rich narrative, immersive post-apocalyptic world, and the freedom to write your destiny. The Fallout series has garnered a lot of dedicated fanbase over the years.
However, when it comes to the Fallout franchise, there’s one title that stands out as a point of discussion among fans, Fallout: New Vegas. It was a commercial success but it tempered with the established formula of the series. Even Todd Howard doesn’t want to repeat the same mistake.

For the second year in a row, three shows have topped the Television Critics Association nominations. “Baby Reindeer,” “Ripley” and “Shōgun” lead Monday’s nominations for the 40th annual awards with five bids each.
All three shows are up for Program of the Year, a category dominated by FX and Netflix. The former fielded three nominees with “Shōgun” “The Bear” and “Reservation Dogs,” while the latter is repped by “Baby Reindeer” and “Ripley.” Max’s “Hacks” is the sole non-fx and non-Netflix nominee.
Last year, “Succession,” “The Last of Us” and “The Bear” scored five nominations apiece. “Succession” and “The Bear” wound up with two wins each, with the former taking Program of the Year, but “The Last of Us” went 0-5.
After expanding to eight slots per category in 2021, TCA has reverted to six slots. No reason was given.
More curious, however, is the unprecedented double-dipping by three shows.

Prime Video’s Fallout came as a surprise for many, with new viewers not expecting this bizarre tale of violence to captivate them so much, and Og fans not even hoping for a truly faithful TV adaptation of their favorite game franchise. But Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet did it and passed all the tests with flying colors — and they don’t intend to stop now.
They have big plans for Season 2.
Fallout Season 2 to Introduce Numerous Factions
The Fallout universe is vast and impossible to cover in just one season, so while Prime Video’s TV did tackle quite a few important issues, they still have hundreds more to deal with. The Wasteland factions were one of the least elaborated aspects of Season 1, but the showrunners intend to fix this “oversight” in the next installment.

While many fans of Eric Kripke’s writing are now enjoying The Boys, as the show is about to release its fourth season, there is another group of fans, still longing for the return of The CW hit Supernatural. Even more so, they wish to see Kripke take back the creative control over the revival, leading the Winchester brothers to more adventures.
The Boys fans, on the other hand, have an opposite reaction to the idea of the show lasting for many more seasons, instead of ending at 5, like Kripke used to promise before. However, there isn’t much to fear right now. The creator doesn’t truly believe any similar show could repeat Supernatural’s success today.
Is Supernatural Season 16 in the Works?
While fans believe they have seen many different hints and clues pointing to the revival of the series, there is no official confirmation of this happening.

When Todd Howard, the mastermind behind Bethesda’s greatest hits, set out to create Starfield, he had a vision – steer clear of the usual sci-fi clichés.
In an interview, he explained how he wanted Starfield to stand apart from the polished, futuristic aesthetic typical of many sci-fi franchises, particularly Star Trek. Howard aimed to build a universe that felt lived-in and practical, very different from the sleek, pristine environments often seen in space operas.
The Difference Between Fallout and Starfield’s Aesthetic
Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion launches later this year.
Fallout is a goldmine of sci-fi tropes. Mutants roam the wasteland, survivors are camped up in underground vaults, and resources are very scarce. These elements create a gritty, harsh world that’s both captivating and familiar to fans of the genre. When it comes to the realm of open-world games, few studios compete against a mammoth like Bethesda. The makers of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the Fallout games went through several concepts and brainstorming sessions before coming up with industry-shaking ideas.
However, Bethesda’s executive producer, Todd Howard, has never been silent about these processes. With an all-too-familiar charm and transparency, he has spoken about how a game as large as Skyrim can often distract players from the main quest, just like a creative process that may distract developers from building a finished product.

Throughout all episodes of Fallout Season 1, we’re learning more about Cooper Howard and his life before the Great War through his flashbacks. Once a popular actor with a loving family, he lost everything after the bombs dropped — but even two centuries later, he still remained perfectly conscious, unlike all other ghouls.
What was the Ghoul’s secret? Why didn’t he lose his personality and forget his name like his less fortunate friends? How hasn’t he gone feral after well over 200 years?
Cooper Perfectly Adapted His Cowboy Persona
The apocalypse dramatically changed Cooper Howard’s career. From a famous (and infamous) actor, he turned into the most notorious and deranged bounty hunter in the Wasteland. Two centuries later, very few people remembered or knew his real name: for most, he was simply the Ghoul, the terrifying person that’s very good at killing.

Starfield’s upcoming expansion, Shattered Space, featured its announcement trailer in the Xbox Showcase broadcast on May 9, 2024. Despite the game’s mediocre reception among fans and critics, Bethesda will not give up on it anytime soon.
While there was no release date mentioned in the trailer, and it was only confirmed to be coming in 2024, the trailer has confirmed that Bethesda is seemingly pulling all the stops in a Hail Mary pass. While it isn’t known if the upcoming expansion will be enough to save the game’s declining player retention numbers, one thing is sure: it is a glimmer of hope for Xbox fans.

The Xbox Games Showcase is one of the biggest events of the gaming calendar, and after PlayStation’s State of Play and Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, it presents the last big opportunity for gamers to see what’s in store for the following couple of years, at least until Gamescom in August.
Geoff Keighley (of Summer Game Fest fame) went public with his attempt at downplaying the hype around his own showcase this year, which was a first, and with the poor showing of PlayStation, many believe this points to a bumper year for the Xbox Games Showcase.
As with any other showcase, we’ve taken the time to try and figure out the most, least, and completely unlikely predictions for what we may see in the showcase!

10. Aliens Exist, Kidnap People, & Love Toys
In the Fallout universe, not only do aliens exist but they’re pretty active. In Fallout 3’s Dlc Mothership Zeta, you can even meet them in person! There are multiple recordings of their sightseeings, and here’s the most random thing about the Zeta aliens: they have a weird unexplained obsession with the Giddy Up Buttercup toys.
9. Ghosts Are Out There but They’re Rare
Believe it or not, ghosts also exist in the Fallout lore, and that has been canon since Fallout 2. In that game, there’s an entire quest where you help one of the ghosts by returning their pendent to them and burying their remains so that they can rest peacefully. Everyone knows "The Simpsons" has basically predicted every major cultural moment in recent history. From Disney's 2021 acquisition of Fox to Donald Trump's presidency, the long-running show has managed to prove time and again that it has its finger on the pulse of pop culture — well, at least it used to. But the show is also responsible for directly contributing to other pop culture moments, such as when Merriam-Webster added the word "Cromulent" — first used in the 1996 episode "Lisa the Iconoclast" — to the dictionary.
Another '90s episode featured the origin of a minor "Simpsons" joke that would end up enduring for decades, although in a much less conspicuous way. "Grampa vs. Sexual Inadequacy" is the tenth episode of the show's sixth season, and while it didn't quite make /Film's list of the 25 best "Simpsons" episodes, frankly every golden age episode could have been on that list, and this one is no different.

As time goes on, it has become increasingly clear that Fallout 3 and Oblivion probably won’t get a remaster as Skyrim did. First leaked during the FTC trial documents that were revealed back in 2023, the studio is quite busy with the new Elder Scrolls and Fallout 5 after that.
It’s got a lot on its plate, and focusing on remastering older games is probably at the bottom of its list of priorities. However, it’s also possible that other studios can handle these remasters.
Todd Howard’s Comments and the Skyrim Exception Fallout 3 is still considered one of Bethesda’s best.
Todd Howard, the mastermind behind Bethesda and these games, had an interview with Time in 2016 where he spilled some interesting details. He talked about how remastering Skyrim was kind of a one-time thing. The game got its remaster five years after its original release, which is relatively fast in gaming years.

When it comes to Fallout‘s breakout TV success, no one is more pleasantly surprised than star Walton Goggins, who plays fan-favorite The Ghoul in Prime Video‘s post-apocalyptic series. “To be quite honest with you, no. No one really expected it,” Goggins told TV Insider on the red carpet at the inaugural Gotham TV Awards on June 4. It “is a lovely surprise really, because you don’t make it for that,” he added of the show’s breakout success. “I’ve been doing this a very long time,” Goggins went on. “The Shield had its audience, Justified had its audience, [The Righteous] Gemstones has its audience, Vice Principals had [its audience]. I’ve done 15 shows and they’ve all spoken to a group of people, but this one has spoken to a much bigger group.” Prime Video To put into perspective the bigger group that Fallout has spoken to, the series became a global hit,...

There’s no other way of putting it: video game adaptations are getting big, and they’re getting real. Forget the terrible attempts from the 2000s — the studios are finally getting a hang of translating the interactive worlds to big and small screens alike. What we’ve been seeing in the past few years with TV shows like HBO’s The Last of Us and Prime Video’s Fallout is only the beginning of a much larger trend.
The latter series became a major sensation for the general audience — and just when folks got familiar with Fallout’s quirks, they now have a tougher blow to parry.

In gaming, few titles have captured the affection of the players like Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Released in 2011, this fantasy game has captivated players worldwide with its vast open world, engaging lore, and memorable characters.

Netflix’s live roast of NFL great Tom Brady made it into the Nielsen streaming rankings for its premiere, despite only being available for a few hours of that week. After its first full week on the streamer, it rocketed to the top of the charts.
The Roast of Tom Brady gathered 1.67 billion minutes of viewing for the week of May 6-12, leading all streaming titles by a wide margin (the second-place finisher, Grey’s Anatomy, had 1.11 billion minutes of watch time for the week). The roast also had by far the biggest weekly viewing tally ever for a Netflix special; the previous high was 798 million minutes for Chris Rock’s stand-up special Selective Outrage in March 2023.
The 1.67 billion minutes of viewing for the roast in the United States translates to about 27.87 million hours, or about two thirds of Netflix’s reported worldwide total (42.2 million hours) for the special that week.

The funniest thing about Prime Video’s recent Fallout TV show was just how shocked was everyone by its immediate overwhelming popularity, including its creators, actors, the franchise’s Og fans, and the platform’s top management. During an appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast (video below), Renner revealed that he turned down reprising his role of Imf agent William Brandt for the 2018 franchise installment. Renner was asked to film for one week to close out Brandt’s “M:i” arc after he starred in 2011’s “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol” and 2015’s “Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation.”
“I remember they tried to bring me over[seas] for a week so they could kill my character, and I was like, ‘No, you don’t get to do that. You’re not going to drag me over there and just kill my character,’ like get out of here!” Renner said. “If you’re going to do this and you’re going to use my character, you’re going to do it right.

Jeremy Renner’s William Brandt was a bad*ss Imf agent introduced in Tom Cruise’s fourth film, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Renner reprised his role in the next movie, Rogue Nation, and was even rumored to take over the series from Cruise. However, he left the series right before the sixth film and it may have to do with one of the ideas from director Christopher McQuarrie.

“Baby Reindeer” was among the winners at the first-ever Gotham TV Awards on Tuesday evening, taking home the prize for breakthrough limited series.
“I never thought in a million years that this dark, weird, messed up show would have brought in this universal love that it’s received,” said Richard Gadd, the show’s creator and star, in his acceptance speech. He also thanked Netflix, his team and his mom and dad for “messing [him] up enough to make [him] an artist.”
Gadd went on to say, “It’s kind of weird also that a show as messed up as this has gone on to strike a chord with so many people. I think it speaks to the fact that a lot of people in the world are struggling right now. And I don’t know much in the way of advice, but I do know that nothing lasts forever. So if you are in a rut,...
