Eat to Live
stonehorsefarm28 November 2020
Everything I want people to know about finding nutritional and environmental health, in a fast-paced, 90-minute documentary. This new director really took the bull by the horns, cramming so much information into video that is also loaded with beautiful footage. As a reformed vegan, she knows first hand the damage a diet can do to the body, and she addresses each of the typical diets thoughtfully along with their environmental impacts. The web of life and how all life is connected is really addressed. I hope this film will catch on quickly.

"We are running out of time, but not out of time yet".
kyle-9467610 December 2020
Daringly critiquing our mainstream corporate food monopolies while challenging friends to better understand and realize what is sustainable regarding food consumption, food production, the environment, and the health of our planet Earth. What we can do, as Allan Savory says, "We are running out of time, but not out of time yet".

"We are running out of time, but we're not out of time yet."
realnice-5474815 December 2020
A very insightful documentary on food production and how it has changed over centuries. Focus is given to understanding the causal effects of these changes as well as our direct involvement/reaction to these changes. We all have freewill. The freewill to choose what we see best for ourselves. However, with our choices, one must ask how in-depth our understanding of our specific food choice is, and what are the direct effects of them. This documentary does an excellent job at exploring these different thoughts as it relates to food and challenges its' viewers through the idea of sustainability.

I was extremely impressed by the depth of this document. As a former vegetarian, I thought I was doing what was best for my body and planet. This documentary opened my eyes to see how our choices in the kitchen have an impact globally. I highly recommend this documentary to anyone who is looking for a fresh take on holistic eating.

A documentary that makes you reflect.
jorgokokkinidis22 December 2020
It was a very insightful and informative documentary on how to live sustainable. The quotes collected from experts in their own field were eye-openers. After watching the documentary I realized how much damage we are bringing to our planet and especially here in the West (North-America, Western Europe). We must live differently and re-evaluate globalization.

Thoughtful, eye-opening, thorough perspective on food
julesc-114 January 2021
I had high expectations for this documentary when I first saw its trailer. After viewing the full film, those expectations were far exceeded. In the most thoughtful and well-explained way, the filmmakers managed to respectfully shatter many of my preconceptions about the food industry. While it reinforced many of the changes I have recently made, it also showed me how some of my well-intended past decisions were not well informed. I was tremendously impressed with the spectrum of viewpoints that were shared, starting in Canada, then drawing back for a North American and then global perspective. There were issues discussed that it hadn't even occurred to me to consider when selecting my food. I'm grateful for having seen this documentary and am looking forward to watching it a second time to draw more from what it shared.

This documentary is an honest, informative and valuable statement on our current global food systems. If you are vegan, if you are a meat eater, if you are an activist, if you are a concerned citizen, all of the above should watch.

Incredible journey!!
cplogullo-5630522 January 2021
This documentary was a wonderful joyride since the beginning of the film. I am infatuated with the message delivery and how incredible it was to hear the voices of various professionals like Joel Salatin to pull back the curtain and give you their personal insights to the focus of the documentary. All in all, Yasi Gerami is a true visionary.

The footage was immediately captivating. The entire crew working on this project really brought the life out through their workmanship. I've watched many documentaries and films and this particular project holds a great standard to the film industry. I was blown away with how well it was put together, and all the credit must be acknowledged to the producers, directors, cinematographers and post production team! Well done!

we must not forget
greer-172844 March 2021
This is a line I use often in discussions about our future - 'we must not forget'... we must not forget what has happened in order that we have a chance that we might work to improve things... but while we are hell bent on 'our own lives' we can justify destruction and slavery at every turn. This doco is for everyone who eats and lives in the modern world. We MUST be prepared to PAY properly for food that is grown sustainably - while we demand cheap we will only get what we have been getting: a system that keeps justifying destruction and slavery in order to supply you with cheap food. If you ever grown a lettuce you will KNOW that the few dollars that you pass the the supermarket for a lettuce is not enough to cover the cost for a farmer to grow it and while they are having to make cheap (because that is what you demand) they will cut corners for short term profit... destroying the land and providing you with hollow food. Vote with your money pay the right price! We choose our future in every choice. This is a wonderfully brave documentary that opens the door to the reality of our commodity food system... I hope all who view it will take the time to dig even deeper and support local growers who support the earth. Thank you Yasi and all involved in making this!

"The right time to do right is right now " Benjamin Fro
rmnovak-070164 March 2021
It was just in recent years that I attended a climate change event in the Netherlands were Benjamin Fro spoke as well as others and they took away all my intimidation on the topic. He help me realize that awareness is everything and this movie is just that! It is educational realistic relevant and relatable. I'm so glad I took the time to watch. I wish I could share it with everyone I know. I have a newfound passion for supporting no till farms -and will certainly think twice before buying fast food although it's not some thing I do often. We have a responsibility, which is simply the ability to respond. Thank you for your efforts and doing your part to educate the many.

Eye Opening Film Everyone Should Watch
jaimejoseph-461353 March 2021
Sustenance is a gem in the sea of falsities that dominate the food and nutrition industries. I wish everyone could watch this film, and first and foremost, government policy makers. With key contributors like Alan Savory and Lierre Keith, there is a wealth of knowledge to explore at viewers fingertips even after the film.

A conscious portraiture of our food reality
tacubero17 January 2022
I was a vegetarian for over seven years, but at some point of this journey, I began to question whether my diet was really contributing to the welfare of the planet. Was it really better to eat imported tofu than the pastured chickens my own mother was farming?

I came across this documentary during a "food ideology crisis", when I was wondering which diet had the least environmental impact. The knowleadge I found in Sustenance created a turning point and changed my definition of food sustainability.

Sustenance takes the viewer through a journey that explores the agro-food chain highlighting the shortcomings of a system that focuses on generating profit, while harming our health and our planet Earth. We have the right to consume food stuff produced with consciousness and in harmony with nature.

The Food Industry - a fad diet and an expensive business
salomeodeny25 February 2021
This Film really blew my mind! A must watch! Filmed in various beautiful locations, to get a global perspective. Nutritional information for those of us in the Western (developed) Hemisphere, is essentially our 'bread and butter', we can also be blind to what is harmful or beneficial to our bodies; thriving on our individual beliefs and food knowledge, recommended by health practitioners (Doctors, Naturopaths, Healers) and influenced by social media. Informative, in a very creative way!

Debemos ser conscientes con las consecuencias de nuestras decisiones
javisiac1 March 2021
We live in a global market and outsourcing society. Sustainability and climate change have become part of it. This is why now more than ever, we must learn, investigate, be aware and critical of the consequences of our decisions. Thanks to independent documentaries like Sustenance where they confront us with a reality that we do not want to see. It is easier to follow the market than to get up and think for ourselves.
