While not many would be happy with Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of Thor the God of Thunder, fans are certainly happy to have Chris Hemsworth portray the Norse God of Thunder. Despite the character being fierce and formidable in Marvel Comics, Hemsworth’s version has come close to being more grounded and relatable with an ample amount of comic elements.

Hollywood is perhaps the cradle of most controversies today. Despite the push for “inclusivity” on the internet and the film industry, there are some issues that might not sit well with everyone. And we have seen these clashes more often quite recently, as filmmakers and showrunners try to bend fantasies to their view.

George Miller gives fans a more in-depth look at Chris Hemsworth’s Dementus in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga in a recent interview. The director, who helmed the 45-year-long dystopian epic franchise, also teased another possible spinoff that may dig deeper into the character.

Hemsworth’s antagonistic role is one of the highly anticipated appearances in the movie alongside Anya Taylor-Joy’s Furiosa. The actor, who is known for his Marvel role as Thor, portrayed the villainous warlord with so much conviction.
George Miller Had To Create Dementus’ Backstory
During his interview with Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, director George Miller revealed he made a backstory for Chris Hemsworth’s Dementus. “There is. I had to do it,” he confirmed. He also explained how far the initial concept was as compared with what fans saw on the big screen.

The best days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are behind it, and I don't just mean the fall from its decade-long box office throne. Any media that reaches pop culture omnipresence like Marvel movies did inspires a counterwave of backlash -- it's just the way the discourse flows. And with the MCU, there's a lot to critique.
There's shoddy filmmaking, the centering of Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige as the creative glue, the cheap self-deprecating humor that's spread its roots across Hollywood (e.g. Netflix's live-action "Cowboy Bebop"), and the aimless, complicated-yet-simplistic narrative that exists in service of nothing but its further propagation. That last issue is inherited from Marvel Comics, yet if you dive into current Marvel comics, you'll find one all-too-aware series that is weaving MCU critique into its (meta)text. That series is Al Ewing's "Immortal Thor".

After years of commitment towards Marvel and establishing himself as an action figure in Hollywood, Chris Hemsworth was delighted to land the role of warlord Dementus in George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The new role made him realize that he has spent a long time feeling he was “stuck”. But that didn’t stop him from defending his superhero movies from criticism.

Following the repeated criticisms from the acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese, Chris Hemsworth dropped his comments in defense, claiming it was harsh of the director to bash superhero films. Scorsese previously compared Marvel films with theme park rides in 2019, and later elaborated his opinion stating that comic book movies are a “danger” to culture, in 2023.

Marvel hasn't been having the best time of late and the shaky attempt to recapture lightning in a bottle that was "Thor: Love and Thunder" is a good example. Whereas its predecessor, "Thor: Ragnarok," saw star Chris Hemsworth leaning into his comedic sensibilities to great effect, even Hemsworth himself agreed that "Love and Thunder" was just too silly. But when the God of Thunder made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut all the way back in 2011, the opposite was true.
Whereas "Iron Man," the film that changed Hollywood forever by kicking off the massively popular interconnected universe, was led by Robert Downey Jr. and his magnetic charisma, 2011's "Thor" was a darker affair that embraced the character's origins and delivered what was essentially a fantasy adventure with relative unknowns in the lead roles of Thor and Loki. Chris Hemsworth, better known to many as Thor, has been wreaking havoc in the world of Mad Max as Dr. Dementus and having the time of his life. A step away from the fictional world of Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor looks brilliant and surprisingly does an impeccable job playing Dementus, despite having played a character like Thor for decades.

And Marvel fans believe George Miller is a good choice to direct Thor 5 after the director expressed he is willing to work with Hemsworth again.

While Thor: Love and Thunder was critically maligned, it was still a box office success for Marvel Studios, earning $761M worldwide from a production budget of $250M.
After helming two Thor films in a row, director Taika Waititi has indicated that he's likely done with the franchise, opening the door for another director to step in, if Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige want to make another standalone Thor film.
As such, George Miller was recently asked whether he would consider reuniting with Chris Hemsworth on Thor 5, after directing the Australian actor in the upcoming Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
Somewhat surprisingly, Miller stated that he'd consider it.
"I would work with Chris on anything. I really would. He's a wonderful actor. He's got the full range of all the skills," said Miller. "I mean, you've got to be athletic, physically."

In the vast realm of Marvel Comics and among the plethora of enticing and intriguing characters, Thor, the God of Thunder, occupies a separate place and fan base. Known for his larger-than-life, regal personality, the comic version vastly differs from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the Marvel Comics, when All-Father Odin first dubbed Thor as the God of Thunder, it was an ironic moniker, as the young crown prince of Asgard was terrified of thunderstorms as a child. Over time, Thor would go on to thoroughly earn this title after his life-altering exile in Midgard (Earth), explored in a milder capacity in Kenneth Branagh's "Thor," which cemented the character's irreplaceable status in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris Hemsworth's rendition of the character, when contrasted to its comic counterpart, emerges as delightfully layered: Hemsworth's Thor is a mixture of sincere self-seriousness and dorky obliviousness, with equal parts strength and vulnerability contributing to an extremely likable superhero persona. Despite the character's godlike status, Thor's presence in the MCU almost had a grounding effect, where complexity and levity went hand in hand to steer stories that brimmed with grit and heart.

Unlike Iron Man and Captain America, who became instant favorites among fans of the MCU, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor initially struggled to land his footing among the MCU greats. While his first film was far from a failure, it was still considered one of the weaker entries in the initial phases. On top of that, the critical failure of The Dark World would finally push the MCU to make some notable changes to the character.
As a result, we got Taika Waititi for the threequel, which not only surpassed the previous two entries in quality, Ragnarok ended up cementing itself as one of the best pre-Infinity War films. Unfortunately, the character once again hit a new low following the failure of Thor: Love and Thunder, and Hemsworth still hasn’t forgiven himself for this debacle.

While the Marvel films did well overall, the last Thor film, “Thor: Love and Thunder,” has been a weak one in the MCU. However, recent entries have proven to be weaker, so there is that.

According to the origin of Marvel’s Thor, the All-Father Odin sends his son to Earth to learn humility. It sounds like Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has had to do the same thing.
Hemsworth’s Thor was riding high going into 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, following 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, which won over fans who dismissed his first two solo outings, as well as the strong emotional arc in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. But for many, Love and Thunder pushed the wacky sensibilities of writer/director Taika Waititi too far, resulting in a movie too glib to be funny. And Hemsworth agrees.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” the Aussie actor recently admitted to Vanity Fair. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
It’s easy to see why Hemsworth leaned so far into Waititi’s style for Love and Thunder.

Christian Bale is undeniably one of the most respected actors to ever portray the iconic Batman. His collaboration with director Christopher Nolan in 2005’s Batman Begins launched a gritty and now-legendary trilogy that made over $2 billion worldwide (via The Numbers).
Their version of Batman was serious and dark — quite different from the more playful superhero movies at the time. The Dark Knight from their film series is still seen as a super important movie in the superhero world.
Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight
Nolan did an amazing job directing and writing the Batman trilogy, but Bale’s acting as Bruce Wayne/Batman was also a big part of why the film became a huge success.
SUGGESTEDChristian Bale Will Never Play “Despicable” James Bond For a Very Valid Reason But He Can Still be in it as a Villain
Before Batman Begins, Bale was famous for playing intense characters, like Patrick Bateman in American Psycho.

2008’s Tropic Thunder is one of the most popular comedy films of all time and actor Jack Black would love to do a sequel, but he believes it would get canceled today. Exclusive: The rebirth of the 1999 cult favorite film The Boondock Saints is upon us. Thunder Road, the producer behind the John Wick films, has stepped in and joined rights-holder Dragonfly Films to make what they are calling a universe expansion of the action film franchise about the fraternal twin Irish brothers who raise holy hell to rid their Boston hometown of all criminals.
In the current configuration, Troy Duffy will step aside as director after creating and helming the original and the 2009 sequel The Boondock Saints: All Saints Day. Both films starred The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery as the MacManus brothers, with Billy Connolly playing their father.
Reedus and Flanery will reprise their roles, and the search is on for a new director. Duffy plans to write a series of books about the Saints, continuing their story that way.

Swiss writer-director Carmen Jaquier’s Swiss-language debut feature Thunder, is about adolescent sexual awakening set at the cusp of the 19th and 20th centuries. It’s the story of Elisabeth (Lilith Grasmug), a teenage novitiate who, as she’s about to take her vows, is told of her elder sister Innocente’s sudden death.
She climbs every mountain on the long walk to her parent’s farm, located in a remote village in the Alps.
Marine Atlan’s extraordinary cinematography captures the mountain landscapes and luscious valleys but also the darkness lurking behind the Alpine shutters of Elisabeth’s hometown where it’s forbidden to discuss what happened to her sister.
Underpinning all of this is the town’s suppression of female adolescent sexuality because, they claim, young women who engage in sexual activity must be doing the work of the devil.

Switzerland has been named the new country of honor for the upcoming Marché du Film, the 2024 Cannes Film Market, which will run May 14 to 22, 2024.
The small Alpine nation punches above its weight on the international film scene, in large part due to its positioning as an ideal co-production partner, with a skilled, multi-lingual workforce, top-end post-production facilities and competitive state support and tax incentives.
Cross-over successes, including Alice Rohrwacher’s La chimera, an Italian/Swiss/French co-production featuring The Crown star Josh O’Connor as a white-suited tomb raider; Anna Novion’s drama Marguerite’s Theorem, about a brilliant mathematics student (Raw actor Ella Rumpf) who decides to quit university; or Claude Barras’ Swiss-French stop-motion film hit My Life as a Zucchini (2016) point to the breadth and variety of the Swiss industry.

Taika Waititi has admitted he originally had “no interest” in doing a Marvel movie before signing on to make 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok during a recent appearance on the SmartLess podcast (via TheWrap).
Waititi, who wrote and directed both Thor: Ragnarok and last year’s Thor: Love and Thunder, explained to hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes that he changed his mind after thinking about his family.
“It wasn’t on sort of like my whole plan for my career as an auteur,” Waititi said. “But I was poor and I’d just had a second child, and I thought, ‘You know what, this would be a great opportunity to feed these children.'”
Waititi also didn’t pull any punches in giving his honest thoughts about the franchise — calling Thor the “least popular” Marvel comic. “I never read Thor comics as a kid,” he said. “That was the...
