We examine the recent Val Kilmer movies, that happened to have bypasses cinemas...
Once upon a time, Val Kilmer’s individual look - defined by a little Swedish blood from his mother’s side - had hearts pumping. Those looks, along with his arrogant, edgy attitude and acting style, helped him clinch plenty of complimentary roles during the 80s and early-90s. Films like Top Secret, Top Gun, Willow and my personal favourite Real Genius were pushing him toward a stellar career back then, and his star was steadily rising.
See also: a closer look at what may be Val Kilmer's weirdest film
But Kilmer came down from a serious high of Heat and Tombstone in the mid-90s when he signed on to the notorious clusterfuck that was The Island Of Dr. Moreau, and only recently has the part he played in its disastrous production come to light.

For his role in "Tinker Tailor Solider Spy," Gary Oldman is getting a lot of buzz as a potential Oscar nominee. It would be his first, if you can believe it. He’s popped up in so many memorable roles over the years, but he’s never received any adulation from the Academy.
In anticipation of the hopeful good news, we came up with a list of five other actors who’ve never gotten the call either.
Steve Buscemi
Despite a string of some of the most memorable supporting roles in film history like Mr. Pink in "Reservoir Dogs" and Carl Showalter in "Fargo," the bug-eyed Brooklynite has never been nominated. With most of his work these days coming in HBO’s "Boardwalk Empire," Buscemi might have to settle for a Golden Globe or an Emmy. Maybe after that, the Academy will start appreciating what they’ve been missing all along.

We hope 50 Cent doesn't mind the cold.
The rapper turned actor will soon be heading north for much brisker climes as he signs on for "The Frozen Ground," according to Shadow and Act.
"The Frozen Ground" is based on the true story of Robert Hansen, Alaska's most notorious serial killer. Regarded by his community as a respectable family man, Hansen, over the course of 12 years, abducted more than 24 women and flew them into the Alaskan wilderness, where he would proceed to hunt them down and murder them.
50 Cent joins a cast that includes John Cusack as Hansen, Vanessa Hudgens as the one victim who managed to escape and Nicolas Cage as the highway patrolman who joins forces with Hudgens' character to bring the killer to justice. 50 Cent will play a pimp who was acquainted with many of Hansen's victims, as most of them were prostitutes.

It’s good to know that Val Kilmer has someone in his corner, a newfound hetero companion that will help him find decent work when all he can get is “The Traveler”. After starring together in both “Streets of Blood” and “Gun”, best friends forever Val Kilmer and 50 Cent are back in the cinematic saddle once again. Writer/director Jason Hewitt’s crime drama “Blood Out” finds the duo delivering some direct-to-video thrills alongside such Stv veterans as Luke Goss and Vinnie Jones. And while many are quick to piss all over their flicks, I happen to enjoy both Goss and Jones as actors, even when the films they choose to appear in are just this side of absolutely worthless. That may sound harsh, but even those guys know that their films are, at times, nearly unwatchable. “Blood Out” should hit DVD and Blu-ray on April 26th, 2011. In the meantime,...

Rap superstar 50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - and Val Kilmer head the cast in the action-packed street thriller Gun.
Produced by Jackson, and based on his original screenplay and story, the film is directed by Jessy Terrero and co-stars Annalynne McCord (90210), James Remar (Dexter), John Larroquette (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and Danny Trejo (Machete).
Gun is the latest big screen venture from the multi-platinum rapper, whose film career launched in 2005 with Get Rich And Die Trying, followed by performances alongside Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in Righteous Kill; Samuel L Jackson in Home of the Brave; Val Kilmer in Streets of Blood; and Before I Self Destruct in 2009.
"Initially, when I started the plot," says Jackson, "it was a really a socially-conscious story about how guns go from the manufacturing point to retail, and how they can fall into the wrong hands.

Did anyone besides myself watch the Eugene Hess scripted, Charles Winkler directed 50 Cent/Val Kilmer cop thriller “Streets of Blood?” Anyone? I didn’t think so. Although it wasn’t unbearable, it certainly wasn’t a memorable experience. According to Variety, 50 Cent and Mr. Kilmer — also known as the Second in Command of straight-to-video action flicks — will reteam for director Jesse Terro’s “The Gun,” which is scheduled to begin filming sometime next month in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The article also blames Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson for the script, so if you have any issues with the material whatsoever, you know exactly who to address your letters to. However, I strongly suggest keeping your opinions to yourself. Randall Emmett, George Furla, Richard Jackson, and, yes, Curtis jackson, will all handle producing duties. “The Gun” follows a pair of life-long friends as they gradually become entrenched within the shady world of illegal arms dealing.

Despite being one of the richest rappers and has won several awards, 50 Cent seems unable to beat Chace Crawford when it comes to winning a crowd of screaming girls. He admitted to be shocked to know how girls went crazy over Chace on set of their upcoming film, "Twelve".
"You should see how the girls go crazy over Chace," he recalled as quoted by E! Online. "I'd see these people standing around, jumping up and down, and I'd say. 'What is going on?' Did they see me?' But then I'd see Chace standing outside. I need to get in on that."
Although Chace looked like to be the most popular of the two, 50 has nothing but good words for the "Gossip Girl" star. Talking about how good Chace is when portraying White Mike, the rapper praised his co-star, "He was really, really good on set. I mean, he'll...

If you’re wondering where Sharon Stone has been since her Anchor Bay release of Streets of Blood, you’re not the only one.
Prestige Magazine asked the Basic Instinct star if she had any current projects. I’m imagining it went a little something like this:
Prestige: So…Sharon Stone, what’s goin’ down?
Sharon Stone: I’m not sure what you mean? Is that an invitation for cunnilingus?
Prestige: Actually, it’s a dated urban vernacular for asking if there are any new events occurring that you may wish to share with us. I figured you might know this since you worked on Streets of Blood with 50 Cent…
Sharon Stone: Of course I knew that. I just thought…anyway, yes I am, it’s called Satisfaction. It’s a movie. It has sex in it. That’s what I do.
Stone will be playing an “older...

Happy DVD release day, people. Hitting stores this week is one of the year's biggest films, the animated film Monsters vs Aliens, plus a number of indie flicks you might have missed including Sam Mendes' Away We Go, Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience starring Sasha Grey, and Shrink starring Kevin Spacey. Rian Johnson's The Brothers Bloom is also available for rental exclusively at Blockbuster today, but in a strange deal, it will not be available to buy in the U.S. until January (it will be available in Canada next week, however). In terms of TV releases, there are a ton of Fan Favorites collections for classic shows, plus season 4 of How I Met Your Mother, and then there's the massive 70th Anniversary Edition of The Wizard of Oz plus Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal on Blu-ray. Do you plan on picking anything up this week? Monsters vs Aliens [1] (DVD,...

The 2009 Hottest MCs in the Game rollout is on! As in 2007 and 2008, the list, determined by the MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trust, is based on an Mc's achievements right now, rather than an entire career. The criteria is based on a combination of rhyme skill, flow and how those things are implemented musically as the main factors. The Brain Trust also considers buzz, impact, commercial success — sales, airplay, business ventures, Web presence, endorsements and helping to spawn other artists' careers — and the intangible, impact: Can an artist not only contribute to the rap game but influence cultural shifts? Are they trendsetters? All of these factors — and the results of our audience poll, which closed last week and gets a vote at the Roundtable during the Brain Trust's debate...
