Kudos to the detectives. But... As tragic as this tale of murder is... what is lacking is the true and maybe even more horrific, tragic back story of how these two teenage kids got involved in evil things with evil people in the first place. Where did everything really start to go wrong? Maybe ask Shawn's father, Duane Cerniglia. The TRUTH needs to be told. Years of child abuse and neglect can lead to many horrible things. Where is this guy's sense of responsibility in his son Shawn's death? Seems that, even all these years later, it's still missing. I am amazed and frankly disgusted, how this guy Cerniglia continues to act like a victim. How about all the YEARS he victimized his own family? Does no one know Daddy Duane's background? Though you'd never know it to look at him now... looking withered, frail, sick and almost 80 years old... Though he's only in his early 60's... This guy lived in Vegas and was one of the most prolific druggie pot heads, chain smokers and alcoholics I've ever met! He acted like a real big shot, while he cheated and dumped on his first wife and 3 kids for years in Las Vegas. He drank a 12 pack every night. He chain smoked 3 packs a day. He smoked pot from the time he woke up in the morning, till the time he went to bed. He loved to pop pills too. He did all of this and more, while he ignored his parental responsibilities. I saw it first hand. My sister married this creep! No need to wonder why Duane Cerniglia needs that breathing machine. Fitting, I say. He cheated on his first wife repeatedly, even having a years long affair with his poor abused wife's sad and lonely twin sister. He married another woman ONE DAY after his divorce was finalized. (My sister) Then, he cheated on my sister, with his current wife, less than 6 months after he married my sister. Talk about messed up? I warned my sister before she married this guy. She knew he had huge issues. But, she didn't listen. She didn't care back then, that she was destroying the marriage and family of another woman. Shawn had huge issues too, and was extremely negatively impacted by his father's evil and selfish choices. There was little to NO parenting going on behind the Cerniglia's locked doors. The family secrets in the Cerniglia family run as thick as green pea soup! Cerniglia isn't even his real birth name! Where was Daddy Duane when his son dropped out of high school, started using drugs, moved in his under aged girlfriend, started running with the wrong crowd and started affiliating with drug dealers? Did he never question or wonder where his high school drop out son's endless cash came from? NO! He was too busy to be a father, because he was too busy divorcing the second wife, so he could marry the third wife! He was too busy starting his new fabulous life in Colorado... still partying, drinking, cheating... playing the part... paying for new divorce attorneys... while he singlehandedly disempowered Shawn's mother from being able to parent, teach and raise him properly. Shawn moved out of his mother's home and in with his father and his third wife Dana, shortly after he divorced my sister! He moved into a home where he basically did what he wanted and went where he wanted. Though I am happy the police caught poor Shawn's killers... I'd like to know... WHY isn't Shawn's dad sitting in a jail cell, right along side with his son's killers? How did he slither out of any responsibility in his son's horrible death? How does he even look at himself in the mirror every day? Duane never liked me... I'm glad to say. I hope he rots in hell.
