Marvel fans were in for a surprise when they sat down for the X-Men ’97 Season finale. It was revealed that Peter Parker had finally found Mary Jane, a storyline from the 1994 animated series Spider-Man that never saw the light of day.

Whether it’s the early 2000s or Josh Trank’s 2015 reboot, the live-action adaptation of Marvel’s first family, Fantastic Four, has always left fans disappointed. Despite boasting a prolific cast as Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan, the 2015 reboot was highly criticized for its approach towards the story and the depiction of the characters, earning it a spot among the worst superhero films of all time.

Attention: The Following Rpeort Is A Rumor. Please Take The Following Story With A Grain Of Salt.
In recent years Marvel, both in the comics and on the screen, have been pushing the character Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel. She has had multiple solo comic series, has been the star of her own Disney+ show, was the key character in the 2020 Avengers video game and was one of the main characters in 2023’s The Marvels. However, despite how many times they try the character never seems to stick with audiences.
In May of last year the teenage heroine was “killed off” in an issue of The Amazing Spider-Man. Her death was rather short-lived as only a couple months later, in July, she was brought back, this time with a new background as she was previously an Inhuman but was now made a Mutant like the X-Men. During the early 2000s X-Men: Evolution reimagined the popular Marvel Comics team for a younger audience. The animated series ran for 52 episodes across four seasons and was the first introduction to Mutants for an entirely new generation of superhero fans. However, the series failed to bring to life one of the X-Men’s deadliest foes.
Mr. Sinister as depicted in Marvel Comics
Despite its long run on air and interesting roster of X-Men characters, X-Men: Evolution could not introduce the terrifying Mr. Sinister, which would have preceded the character’s appearance in the more recent but retro-style animated X-Men ’97 series. The X-Men film franchise has undeniably captivated a vast audience, earning a dedicated following among fans worldwide. Despite its popularity, the series has encountered numerous trials and tribulations along the way. Nonetheless, within Fox’s Mutants franchise lies a treasure trove of commendable elements.
One notable highlight is found in X2: X-Men United, where Ian McKellen, with his astute insight, introduced a groundbreaking moment: Iceman’s poignant coming-out scene.
X-Men ’97
However, recent developments surrounding the upcoming animated series X-Men ’97 have stirred controversy among fans. In particular, the decision to alter the character Morph’s sexuality to non-binary has sparked intense debate.

Exciting news from Marvel Studios as they reveal the cast for the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. The iconic superhero team will see Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic. Vanessa Kirby will bring to life Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman. The role of Johnny Storm, or the Human Torch, goes to Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will portray Ben Grimm, better known as the Thing.
This reboot is stirring quite a buzz, especially with the announcement of a new release date. Fans can mark their calendars for July 25, 2025, when the Fantastic Four will make their grand entrance. This shift means Thunderbolts will now premiere earlier, on May 2, 2025.
The story of the Fantastic Four is a classic one. They’re astronauts turned superheroes after a cosmic ray exposure in space. Reed Richards can stretch his body incredibly, while Sue Storm, his partner, can turn invisible and create forcefields.

Out of all upcoming MCU projects, ‘Deadpool 3’ is so far the only one being scheduled for a 2024 release. But we must look beyond that, and when it comes to projects scheduled to be released in the next 2 or 3 years, none is as hyped as the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot. So far, the only problem we’ve had with the movie was casting, as it hasn’t been confirmed yet in the official capacity. We only have bits and pieces of rumors to go off on, like the fact that Pedro Pascal will be Reed Richards and Vanessa Kirby is our new Sue Storm.
And while we are pretty certain who will play Reed Richards and Sue Storm, the actors behind Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm are still up for debate. The most likely candidate to play The Thing currently is Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who couldn’t confirm or deny that...

The Marvels’ director Nia DaCosta spoke about her battles with Marvel boss Kevin Feige over the inclusion of X-Men-related characters.
The newest MCU film has arrived, headlined by three of Marvel Studios’ powerful female heroes, Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau.
Mutants aren't too hard to come by in The Marvels, with confirmed Mutant Ms. Marvel co-leading the film and Kelsey Grammer's Beast making a brief cameo in the post-credits scene. That number could've gone up if DaCosta got her way though.

Mutoid Man have announced their first album in six years, Mutants, which drops July 28th. The lead single “Call of the Void” can be heard now.
Not only is it the first new music in six years from the post-hardcore outfit, but it also marks the Mutoid Man debut of High on Fire bassist Jeff Matz, rounding out a veritable supergroup alongside Cave In’s Stephen Brodsky (vocals/guitar) and drummer Ben Koller of Converge fame.
The trio meld together splendidly on “Call of the Void” — a five-minute romp of mathy licks, mosh-inducing breakdowns, and shout-along vocal hooks. We’re hearing a little bit of every member’s past work here, from the more angular post-hardcore leanings of Converge and Cave In, to the brutal up-tempo charge of High on Fire.

There is no Batman in Gotham Knights, unless you count a brief wide shot of Bruce Wayne in his office and a closer one of his bloodied corpse on the sidewalk. That is, indeed, the whole point of Gotham Knights: The series is set in the panicked aftermath of the Caped Crusader’s death, as his adopted son Turner (Oscar Morgan) tries to catch his dad’s killer and in the process emerges as a hero in his own right.
But even in his absence, Batman casts a long shadow — one Gotham Knights struggles to get out from under in the six hourlong episodes sent to critics. It’s Batman’s work that links nearly all the characters, Batman’s death that finally brings them all together, Batman’s history they’re made to sift through and Batman’s legacy they work to live up to. For those of you who are part of my generation, that means you probably grew up gawking at the wildly provocative covers of all the tabloids like I did, eager to sneak a peek at all those outlandish stories conjured up to sell consumers on a variety of conspiracy theories. These days, those tabloids feel like a remnant of a time when we dared to dream that Elvis was vacationing at the pyramids in Egypt or that the elusive Bat Boy was really out there, scaring unsuspecting visitors to Central Park and the like. So, if you’re like me and you tend to enjoy what I call “wildly imaginative” journalism, I highly recommend giving Mat Thorne’s novel Dial M for Mutants! a read, because it did a great job of transporting me back to yesteryear, and it also features some really fun creature aspects in its story.

Ib Melchior’s best-directed movie is a futuristic space opera with a time travel theme, all done at a production level suitable for a Halloween fun house. Yet its talented crew comes up with exciting visuals to match Melchior’s flaky-but-fun eclecticism: Androids, Mutants, ‘deviants,’ hydroponic gardens, force fields, time warps… and a sexist attitude or two to remind us that we’re seeing 2071 through the eyes of 1964. And it’s one of the earliest Hollywood credits for cameramen Vilmos Zsigmond and Laszlo Kovacs.

(Some spoilers ahead for “WandaVision” through the series finale episode)
One thing that Marvel is usually very good at is fan service. Despite being as leaky as a sinking ship in terms of its plot, “Avengers: Endgame” worked for fans by delivering an ending that a lot of folks felt was very emotionally satisfying. But this whole thing with Pietro on “WandaVision” doesn’t feel like it can work on that level.
Why? Because Evan Peters showing up on “WandaVision” represented the potential realization of something that fans have long been excited about: the incorporation of mutants — the X-Men — into the MCU. But it also put something bigger in play. Since Evan Peters had played Pietro in the “X-Men” movies, we though that the studio might also somehow incorporate the cast of the Fox “X-Men” franchise into the MCU.
It made sense. We knew this phase would incorporate the multiverse...

There are times when fan theories go a little far out of the lines, but considering that we’re talking about the MCU and Marvel movies, outside the lines might be about the only way that a story can be taken in order to make sense. Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched Season 1, Episode 6 of Disney Plus’ “WandaVision.”
The last time we caught up with Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision’s (Paul Bettany) quirky adventures through television eras, we were in the curly and corny and colorful 1980s, dealing with superpowered and superaging twins, Vision’s growing consciousness of the anomalies of “WandaVision,” a dog that died for the bogus reason of eating too many of the next-door sorceresses’ azalea leaves and Wanda breaking her own fourth wall to confront S.W.O.R.D.
The sixth episode of “WandaVision” was just as replete with sitcom zaniness — heavily inspired by the early aughts Fox series “Malcolm in the Middle” — and with scenes of the investigative research of agents and scientists-gone-rogue. But that also means that this episode has left us with, yes, you guessed it, a bunch of puzzles to crack.

In case you hadn’t heard, the outcome of Fortnite‘s high stakes Nexus War has finally been decided.
Earlier this week, Marvel supervillain Galactus made his debut, hungry and incredibly eager to harness the power of Apollo Island’s mysterious Zero Point. The device, bursting with untold energy (the perfect snack for a planet-sized cosmic entity), ultimately ended up staying exactly where it belongs thanks to the combined efforts of Iron Man, Thor and a host of other heroes, with gamers themselves ultimately playing the most important role in repelling the world eater’s assault.
And now that Chapter 2 – Season 5 has arrived to take its predecessor’s place, Marvel has seen fit to share a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part in the collaboration, though not before first signing off with the ominous “see you again soon!”

The erratic world of VOD consumption saw a lift this week with debuts of “The New Mutants” (Disney) and “Unhinged” (Solstice), films that were the first wide releases when theaters began to reopen in August. Ninety days later, normal windows dictate that it’s time for non-premium availability. (They each rent for $5.99.)
Disney’s Marvel spin-off took the top spot at Apple TV and FandangoNow, while Russell Crowe’s stalker thriller is #1 at Google Play. Two items of note: “Mutants” shows its strength by taking the top spot at Fandango, which ranks by revenue, not transactions; that’s impressive for a standard-price title. Unlike “Mutants,” “Unhinged” had a PVOD release and now sees a revival at its lower price.
These two titles were the only ones to place on three charts. (Spectrum’s weekly chart lags behind and will likely show them next week.) “Unhinged” placed #2 and #3 elsewhere, while “Mutants” was #5 on Google.

This article contains New Mutants spoilers.
Ah, the sorry tale of the New Mutants movie. Completed just as Disney absorbed 20th Century Fox, Josh Boone’s horror-tinged YA X-Men flick never got its promised reshoots, was shelved, had its release date kicked around the calendar – first by an indifferent studio and then by the pandemic – before finally arriving with a whimper in limited theatrical release earlier this fall and (finally) on streaming last week. Like its troubled young characters, New Mutants bears the scars of its difficult past, and then gets saddled with the added burden of being neither a true coda to 20 years of Fox’s X-Men movies (last year’s rightfully maligned Dark Phoenix got that “honor”) nor is it vivid or exciting enough to be considered a way to potentially kickstart mutants into the McU.
Despite all of these problems, there’s something refreshing about New Mutants‘ approach,...

About 62 percent of U.S. locations were open this weekend, with what looks like a total gross of around $15 million-$16 million. Figure if all theaters were open, $25 million or above would have been the total. The same weekend last year (which included the three days before Labor Day) totaled $92 million.
Obviously, the lack of ongoing films is a key factor, but in 2019 there were no new films that weekend. Aided by more theaters being open and a handful of new releases, this weekend’s numbers are about double last weekend. However, they suggest that a substantial part of the moviegoing public is, so far, not going.
Long-delayed “X-Men” offshoot “The New Mutants” is #1 with $7 million estimated. The 20th Century Fox film saw its release delayed until long after the Disney merger; this is actually its fifth scheduled release date, and only one of those change stemmed from Covid-19. In a world without Covid,...

The New Mutants stars Anya Taylor-Joy (Magik), Maisie Williams (Wolfsbane), Charlie Heaton (Cannonball), Blu Hunt (Mirage) and Henry Zaga (Sunspot) in the X-Men spinoff about five young mutants who must face their pasts, harness their powers, and band together to escape from the sinister government facility in which they have been secretly stashed.
The movie, which was made by 20th Century Fox as part of its X-Men universe before the company was absorbed by Disney, was shot three years ago by director and co-writer Josh Boone. When The New Mutants went into production in early 2017, it was still part of what was once known unofficially as the Fox Marvel Universe: a collection of films based around the Marvel characters that 20th Century Fox owned the screen rights to and had no intention of giving up to Marvel Studios parent company Disney.
As director Josh Boone — a big fan of the comics — has explained, The New Mutants was meant as a different kind of superhero thriller, with the aesthetic and tone of a horror movie. In fact, it was meant to be the first of a trilogy, with each entry capturing a different horror movie feel. And yes, according to Boone, it was meant to be tied at least tangentially to the larger X-Men film series, which was reaching a climactic point with 2019’s Dark Phoenix.

Gotham City a cold winters night. A downtown plaza is where we find our subject. He is a man respected and feared in equal measure. A cold hearted professional. When taking a mission in Gotham it comes with the added mission of avoiding ‘The Bat.’ But he is more than up to the task which makes it something of a surprise that as he is adjusting the scope on his sniper rifle a blue flashing light distracts him and in an instant he is gone.
Later that same night in New York City. Another subject for us. While he is as feared as the man from Gotham, excellent in his field. Perhaps at times he is not regarded as professional, though he is just as deadly. If only he would just shut up! However this quirk in his personality makes him an easy target for extraction. As he closes in...

Arriving this week in physical theaters is The New Mutants, the last X-Men movie produced under the 20th Century Fox banner before Disney bought its rival studio and absorbed all its film properties, including the Marvel franchises previously optioned by Fox.
Based on the comics created in 1982 by writer Chris Claremont and artist Bob McLeod, The New Mutants tells the story of five young mutants, each with their own powers. They are being held in a secret facility against their wills and seek a way to escape, all while discovering the extent of their abilities.
While The New Mutants is technically a spin-off of Fox’s main X-Men movies, director and co-writer Josh Boone intended to give it its own feel — specifically, that of a horror movie. But plans were also afoot to connect the fledgling team to the larger universe of the X-Men through the time-honored tradition of the post-credits sequence.

CBS All Access has set a date for its new The Stand limited series. The adaptation of the 1978 Stephen King novel will premiere on Dec. 17, bringing a new vision of the apocalypse to our TV screens just in time for the holidays.
The Stand, which is considered by many Constant Readers to be King’s absolute masterpiece, is the story of two groups of survivors living in a post-apocalyptic United States after a super flu known as Captain Trips has completely decimated 99 percent of the world’s population. In the book, these two groups — one representing the light led by the faithful Mother Abigail (Whoopi Goldberg), and the other the darkness within all men led by the sinister Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgard) — find themselves on a collision course that will decide the fate of what’s left of humanity.

Despite being named after one X-Men spinoff team, the New Mutants movie is more like an x-factor. We don’t know how it’s going to be (despite the insistence that it’s coming at the end of August). We don’t know when it’s actually going to get released. We don’t know what Marvel superhero reality it’s going to take place in. We aren’t 100% sure if it’s going to be in theaters at all or just get thrown onto Disney+ or Hulu. We don’t even know if its potential success will even matter due to the bizarre nature of its existence.
On the other hand, if New Mutants does somehow work out as a hit and it’s allowed to keep going – and the cast haven’t hit middle-age by the time of its release – we at least know how it would work as a trilogy.

Superhero movies have a notoriously poor track record on sincerely depicting disenfranchised or marginalized groups on the screen, LGBTQ+ or otherwise. Often every time a Hollywood studio brags about including a gay character in a major blockbuster, it turns out to be a character without a name, or a background player whose public display of affection can be easily trimmed out of international cuts of the film. That doesn’t appear to be the case with The New Mutants.
While we still have not actually seen the long-forthcoming superhero-horror movie hybrid, much to the chagrin of the movie’s makers, the picture does appear to be striving for something different. Rather than depicting a romance in the margins or by intimation, The New Mutants is supposed to make a building connection between Rahne Sinclair (Maisie Williams) and Danielle Moonstar (Blu Hunt) the heart of its narrative. And all involved clearly want to get it right.

After months…err years of waiting, we now know when “New Mutants” will finally arrive for audiences– uh…the same date as last time. Yeah, don’t get overly excited for a Disney+ announcement, because that didn’t happen today at Comic-Con @ Home. The Marvel/Fox ‘X-Men’ film is coming out… apparently on the same August 28, 2020 date as last time, though strangely enough in the press release there’s zero mention of the date.

It seems that barely a day goes by without a story concerning the status of Deadpool 3, and that’s largely down to the huge number of variables that concern almost every aspect of the in-development project. Marvel Studios have never had a character like the Merc with a Mouth at their disposal before, and his previous status as the star of two of the three highest-grossing R-rated movies in history under the Fox banner only creates more uncertainty.
Having spent a decade trying to get Deadpool made in the first place, Ryan Reynolds has always played a massively hands-on role in the series as the leading man, producer, co-writer and all-round creative driving force. However, that’s a level of influence that nobody has ever received from Marvel before, with Kevin Feige the one and only person that calls the shots.

I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since the first X-Men movie. Today is a major milestone for X-Men fans as July 14th marks the 20th anniversary since the release of 2000’s X-Men in cinemas. Fox’s franchise may have had some highs and lows over the two decades since, but we have a lot to thank it for. Top of the list is Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Though not an obvious match for the short, stocky comic book character, the Australian star made the part his own and is now considered one of the most beloved superhero movie performers.
Jackman took the time to celebrate the 20th birthday of his big breakout role today by sharing a Bts video from the set of the film on social media. “So here’s the thing. When the studio called and asked if I could get in shape to play #Wolverine in 3 weeks. I might have over promised!” Jackman joked in his tweet. “But wouldn’t you have too?...

It’s no secret that The New Mutants has spent a long time teetering on the verge of release – too long, perhaps.
In fact, it’s become something of a running gag, to the point where the Powers That Be recently (re)introduced Josh Boone’s X-Men spinoff be declaring “we’re back,” and slapping an August 2020 release date on the hood.
That due date remains in place (for now), meaning Disney has started to dust off The New Mutants‘ hard-wired promotional machine, hoping to reignite interest in the long-gestating X-Men movie for the umpteenth time.

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld had a lot to get off his chest while speaking to Inverse recently. He blamed Marvel for why we haven’t seen Deadpool 3 yet and believes they have zero plans for the franchise at this point. And in that same interview, he also provided some information on The New Mutants, a movie made years ago that we also have yet to see.
In particular, Liefeld spoke about the film being shot while Deadpool 2 was in production and questioned why it still hasn’t seen the light of day. Especially since test screenings went well.

The New Mutants hasn’t been dealt the best of luck. The standalone X-Men horror flick has suffered from tumultuous production for about five years, resulting in a seemingly never-ending collection of release dates that just never come to fruition.

With a fourth release date for April 3rd, 2020, everything was finally on track for the movie to hit theaters before the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic swept in and caused every major cinema chain to close their doors to the public, effectively destroying 2020’s box office plans.

Poor The New Mutants. Initially one of the bolder and more interesting X-Men projects to originate out of 20th Century Fox, the superhero spinoff has turned into a corporate football delayed by studio mandates, merger politics, and now the coronavirus crisis. In the more bizarre corners of fandom, this has resulted in whispers of “curses,” and in the less crazy parts, it’s led to a general skepticism that Josh Boone’s horror-superhero hybrid will never be released in theaters. Many, in fact, are speculating the film could premiere on Disney’s shiny new streaming service, Disney+, or on Hulu, another streamer that Disney owns a 60 percent stake in. After all, Universal Pictures...

Josh Boone has had a tough time getting “The New Mutants” in theaters, but he’s seeing the bright side in all of the different release dates for his comic book movie. 20th Century Fox originally planned to release the film in April 2018, then the studio bumped the release date to February 2019. Fox was also juggling the “X-Men” tentpole “Dark Phoenix” at the time and ended up moving “New Mutants” to August 2019 to space out the comic book films. The Disney-Fox merger pushed “New Mutants” to April 2020, only for the coronavirus to suspend the film’s release indefinitely. Whenever “New Mutants” does get released, Boone says he’s happy it’s after “Dark Phoenix” because that film set such a low bar with critics and audiences. As Boone tells Empire (via Digital Spy), “Dark Phoenix” was “one of the worst-reviewed movies of last year.”

The New Mutants is, at long last, set to make its debut in April – two whole years after its intended release. Indeed, the film was designed as a tonally off-beat expansion of Fox’s long-held X-Men movie rights, but Disney’s 2019 acquisition of the studio temporarily rendered it an abandoned oddity. However, director Josh Boone thinks the film still has something to offer, and, in a new interview with EW, dispels the long-held notion that it was subject to extensive reshoots.
Boone, also known as the director of 2014’s The Fault in Our Stars, finally dished about the delays that plagued The New Mutants movie, and, most importantly, directly addressed the reshoot rumors, which – besides giving the impression that the film was lacking in its first cut – implied a few (false) things, from the late addition of Jon Hamm as villain Mister Sinister to Daphne Keen appearing as her Logan character,...
