- The UK release was cut, the distributor chose to make reductions to a scene of torture in order to obtain a 15 classification. An uncut 18 classification was available.
- In Singapore, the film was initially passed uncut with an M18 rating; due to stronger instances of violence. However the distributors were unsatisfied with this rating and then opted to re-edit the film in order to secure the more commercially friendly NC-16 rating.
- The Australian DVD and Bluray have been heavily cropped to 1.78: 1 , altering the film's original 2.39; 1 aspect ratio. In most scenes, much information from the sides of the picture are missing.
- The US version removes some dialogue about F-1 firearms in the gun shop scene. It also removes a line in the conclusion, saying Chicago's crime rate has dropped for the first time in a year. These are present in non-US releases.
- The Indian release was censored, in order to obtain a UA rating the distributor chose to remove stronger instances of violence and injuries; (sight of a bullet being removed from a man's hand, blood splattering from a man's head as he's shot, a man's head being crushed as a car collapses, the stitching of a bullet wound in a man's shoulder and the torture scene involving brake fluid). Further visual and audio changes were made which included the muting of strong language during a rap song and the blurring of bottles of liquor.
