Here it is: the second installment in the current reboot of the franchise they couldn’t kill, Halloween. Jamie Lee Curtis’s Laurie Strode is still with us as the slasher genre’s essential “final girl,” despite now being and playing a senior citizen. Michael Myers, described in the credits as “The Shape” and embodied once again by Nick Castle, is also back with a bang. At the end of 2018’s Halloween, he was lying riddled with bullets in a house deliberately set on fire by Laurie, expected to burn to a crisp. No prizes for guessing that ploy didn’t work.
This sequel is called Halloween Kills. After a long prologue from the original 1978 Halloween reprising how he started his rampage, we are zapped off to a bar where a grown-up Tommy Doyle — the kid who was being babysat by Laurie Strode in the original — takes to the stage...

In just over a decade Blumhouse Productions has gone from a very smart agile indie to possibly the most significant horror production company out there. It’s slate is huge, it most quickly and cheaply, trusts in its creators and favours originality and genuine scares. Though the pandemic has meant certain release dates have had to move, or not as yet locked in, it’s clear the Blumhouse juggernaut is showing no signs of slowing. It has several film in production, with release dates set for 2021 and even more movies in various states of development.
We’ve rounded up the latest on all of Blumhouse’s upcoming horror movies. Note: we have not included TV, we haven’t included anything which is clearly not a horror and the projects which have been in development hell for many years are summarised briefly at the end. We’ll keep this updated so...

2018’s Halloween was a real love letter to the 1978 original. Not only did it bring back Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode and John Carpenter as composer, but original Michael Myers actor Nick Castle was invited to return for the movie, too. Both Curtis and Carpenter are, of course, involved with the sequel Halloween Kills, and as has been previously confirmed, so is Castle. Now, the horror legend has teased a little bit about his cameo in the upcoming film.
While speaking on The Thing With Two Heads podcast, Castle didn’t want to spoil anything so neglected to go into specific details, but worried that his appearance this time may be cut from the finished version of David Gordon Green’s movie.
“I actually did the scene … there was only one scene, I can’t tell what it is, I won’t say what it is, but we’ll see,...

This Halloween, Michael Myers is returning to wreak havoc in Haddonfield, Illinois for the umpteenth time. Blumhouse successfully relaunched the slasher franchise back in October 2018, with their take on the Halloween universe being stretched out into a trilogy over the next couple of years. With Halloween Ends arriving in 2021, this year we have Halloween Kills. And we can apparently expect a movie with a huge scale.
Speaking to Too Fab, producer Jason Blum had a few brief words to offer about the sequel, which will see Jamie Lee Curtis coming back once more as Michael’s eternal enemy Laurie Strode.
“Halloween Kills is a very Big movie,” Blum told Too Fab. “The canvas of Halloween Kills is very large.”

As the writer and director of Three Veils, a few common questions I get about the film are “Is this movie based on a true story?” or “How was it working with the lovely and (insert your favorite saucy term) Sheetal Sheth?” However, the first question I inevitably get is “Excuse me, are you crazy?”
I suppose one must be crazy to attempt to make a film in this day and age about young Arab women — who are Muslim — who go through controversial subject matters such as arranged marriage, forbidden love. And for creating one of the first narrative films to ever feature the struggles of an Arab, Muslim Lesbian.
When I first started writing the script, I admit I was anxious. I didn’t want to offend any particular group, or make unwelcome enemies, especially of the threatening kind. Of course, that goal proved to be mostly hopeless as...

Quarantine 2 has added two actors to its cast.
Quarantine 2 is definitely on its way. With John Pogue in place to direct, Bloody-Disgusting reports that the first two actors have been added to the cast. And who might they be, you ask?
Mercedes Masohn!!!!
What, unfamiliar? She was in Red Sands? How about this: she did an epsiode of Entourage. Nothing? It's fine, she's in the photo to the right (ohh la la).
What about Josh Cooke?!!!
No?? He did an ep of Numb3rs, Dollhouse, and Scrubs. Wow. Watch some TV, people!
Hey, working actors getting work. Let's just hope the sequel won't suck. The sequel to the remake of [Rec] won't follow [Rec] 2, but will instead bring the infection to an airport (where it will stand in lines and pay extra to check an overhead bag, driving everyone insane).
Quarantine 2 is going direct to DVD.

News has been pretty quiet on Quarantine 2 since Pogue was announced as director back in March, however according to Bloody Disgusting, Sony Screen Gems have cast Mercedes Masohn (Red Sands) and Josh Cooke (TV’s Committed, Bachelor Party 2) in the film, which has been announced as a direct-to-dvd release
Quarantine 2 is reportedly Very different from [Rec]2. Unlike that film, which saw a medical officer and Swat team outfitted with video cameras and sent into the sealed off apartment tenement to control the situation, the Us sequel will reportedly be set in an airport!!

According to Bloody Disgusting Mercedes Masohn (pictured below; Red Sands) and Josh Cooke (pictured below; "The Closer," "Numb3rs," "Dollhouse," "Scrubs") will be starring in Sony Screen Gems' Quarantine 2, their direct-to-disc sequel now filming in the Los Angeles area.
If you haven't heard already, director John Pogue (The Skulls series for Universal, Ghost Ship) was tapped by Sony to write and direct the upcoming sequel, which will move the infected action from a doomed tenement building to a bustling airport.

Shane West is the first to join the cast of Two Wolves , the werewolf flick we howled about last week. Alex Wright rolls cameras next month from a script by Chris Freeman. We're told two other major rolls are currently close to being cast. West's credits include The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Red Sands . Rumor that Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have called it quits is apparently not true. Shortly after they were reported splitting, sources have spoken up, claiming the couple is not breaking up. "They're together," an insider said. "They're not breaking up. Any time they spend time apart it's because they're working."
Moreover, in the last few days the pair has been seen stepping out together for several times. On Monday night, September 28, Justin and Jessica were pictured on a getaway in Northern California. A day before, they were seen having brunch on the terrace of the Stone House restaurant at San Ysidro Ranch, Los Angeles Times reported. When they left the restaurant, the singer was seen putting his arm around her waist.

Richmond, Va - Richmond, Virginia, is a city of contrasts. Signs of the modern world abound, alongside pieces of its rich history. Downtown holds a tiny house, its walls made of stone, in which visitors gather to pay respects to a great man. Though he never lived here, many of his things are now cared for within. And while some come for a glimpse of the property of the mad genius, others can feel him watching, roaming the halls, and looking at the things that once belonged to him.
Whether it is he who walks the halls or not, too many have seen things they cannot explain. Considering the subject of the exhibits, ghosts seem to be appropriate.
There are many people in horror that fans call luminaries or heroes, but there are precious few whose names evoke such reverence and respect that it seems the horror community likens them to gods.

Arriving on DVD February 24th from Sony Home Entertainment and Stage 6 Films is Alex Turner and Simon Barrett Red Sands, which follows the story of a group of U.S. soldiers who face a deadly supernatural force after they destroy an ancient statue. We caught up with writer Simon Barrett who talked with us a bit about his forthcoming projects, while he also addresses the rumor that Sands is actual a sequel to Barrett and Turner's Dead Birds. It has been said that Red Sands is an unofficial sequel to Dead Birds in a planned trilogy. Barrett clears the air on exactly what it is. "Weve been lousy at clarifying this," Barrett confesses. "Red Sands is not really a sequel. It has an ostensibly different supernatural mythology than Dead Birds.

A poster for Tobe Hooper's Crocodile hangs framed in this L.A.-based guest house-cum-office where writer-director Adam Gierasch works. Even if it's not the most inspired piece of artwork (a reptilian eye staring out from the dark), the one-sheet is rare. One of only a few made. It dwarfs some of the other promo pieces adorning the walls here. Neatly lined up above Gierasch's computer: Sales art for other films he's penned with partner Jace Anderson. Crocodile 2 ("Death Swamp," bitches!). Another Hooper effort (arguably his best in some time) The Toolbox Murders . Dario Argento's Mother of Tears . Rats . Well, that last one Gierasch acted in, just one of a few films he's appeared in (you'll see him next in the February DVD release Red Sands ). These posters...

• Fango got word that Anchor Bay will release Julian Doyle’s Chemical Wedding, under the new title of Crowley, in late first quarter 2009. Doyle also scripted the movie with Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson.
The movie stars Simon Callow as a Cambridge University professor who becomes possessed by the spirit of notorious occultist Aleister Crowley. Kal Weber, Lucy Cudden, Jud Charlton, Paul McDowell and John (Mirrors) Shrapnel co-star. Disc details haven’t been solidified, but we’re told there will be an audio commentary and behind-the-scenes footage. The Bay also alerted Fango that it’ll put the 20th Anniversary Edition of Hellraiser out on Blu-ray in April, with all the extras from the DVD. And the company’s cover art for Gilles Paquet-Brenner’s Walled In, starring Mischa Barton and set to hit disc March 17, has surfaced; we’ll have the specs on that one soon.

I feared it would be bad, but I really didn’t think it’d be this bad. “Spirits take no prisoners”? What the hell kind of tag line is that? Something tells me this is not the vision director Alex Turner had for Red Sands, formerly known as The Stone House, when he set out to make the film.
Sony updated us with the official DVD artwork for Red Sands, which you see on your right and features that incredibly catchy tagline. Since details have been vague from the get-go on this one, how’s about some official synopsis?

Here's an interesting new horror flick. In 2009, director Alex Turner returns to the genre with "Red Sands," written by Simon Barrett. This duo previously brought us the Lovecraftian Civil War tale Dead Birds. In their latest effort Brendan Miller, Shane West, Aldis Hodge, Theo Rossi and Noel Gugliemi are soldiers serving in the Middle East. When they destroy a statue, they're visited by a malevolent force.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Alex Turner regarding his Dead Birds follow-up, Stone House, but a lot’s happened with it since we did. The title is now Red Sands, which I gotta admit I like better, and there’s now a very cool trailer you can feast your eyes upon below!
Red Sands is the story of some soldiers in Iraq who, out of boredom, destroy a statue without knowing anything about it. Bad idea. The next day something visits them, and it’s not happy.
Sony’s Stage 6 will be putting Red Sands on DVD come February 24th, 2009; click here to pre-order it now, enjoy the trailer below and look for more updates soon!
