There was nothing exceptional about the opening episode of this Glasgow based surrogate drama The Nest.
Dan and Emily are a wealthy couple living in the well heeled part of Glasgow. They have been trying a long time to have a baby via IVF but so far been unsuccessful.
Kaya is an 18-year old young woman living in the wrong side of the city with financial struggles. She has business ideas but no way to realize them
The opening scenes has Emily and Kaya colliding. Emily accidentally hits Kaya with her car as she suddenly runs into the road.
When Kaya later sees Emily and her husband Dan at the hospital. She follows them and finds out that have problems conceiving. They are down to their last embryo.
Kaya makes an offer to be a surrogate for £50,000. Dan is unsure to give that much money to a stranger.
It was all rather perfunctory for what was billed as a thriller. Only the final scenes instilled something of a plot. It looks like a two or three part serial stretched out to five.
At the time of writing, with the whole world in a Coronavirus scare, governments advising people to stay indoors, television and film productions shut down. I am not sure I would still be tempted to tune in for episode two.
