One of these, Theodate Pope, was believed to be dead and was only saved by being spotted by a friend. Another, Lady Mackworth, was supported by a chair. Others managed to climb into boats that had capsized earlier. One boat, rowed by Elizabeth Duckworth and 3 others, went back and saved many people.
