- The ten couples perform either the Tango or the Jive, then the couple with the lowest score, combined from the judges' scores and viewers' votes, is eliminated.
- Daryl Somers began the episode by introducing us to the house orchestra, led by Chong Lim, and the judges. Once again, the regular quartet of Todd McKenney, Helen Richey, Paul Mercurio and Mark Wilson were joined by international guest judge Bruno Tonioli.
Next to be introduced was co-host Sonia Kruger, who again stunned the audience with a royal blue Carla Zampatti velvet gown. They informed the viewers that the voting lines had closed, and then re-introduced the ten couples of celebrities and their professional dancing partners, who would all be dancing either a Jive or a Tango tonight.
The first couple to take to the floor were Todd Woodbridge and his partner Emily Reilly, who were both dressed in tennis outfits from the 1930's, complete with a tennis racquet from a similar era. They performed an energetic Jive that exhilarated not just the couple but the audience as well. The judges remarked that their effort was great, but a timing blip in the middle of the routine did not go unnoticed by Paul Mercurio, who said that last week, Todd "danced like a Wimbledon champion, and this week like a ball boy". After Sonia interviewed the couple in the green room, the judges revealed their scores. Out of a possible 10 points, Todd scored them 8, Helen 7, Paul 6, Mark 7 and Bruno 7, for a total of 35 points.
Up next were Kimberley Davies, dressed in a sparkling black gown, and her partner Paul Zaidman. Kimberley brought her acting abilities into their emotional and passionate rendition of the Tango. Although the judges liked their technique, they pointed out that the lack of passion from last week's routine was still present. Todd scored them 5, Helen 6, Paul 5, Mark 6 and Bruno 7, for a total of 29 points.
Next to step on to the floor were Home And Away actor Tim Campbell and his partner, Natalie Lowe. Their fast-paced and confident Jive was lapped up by the audience and the judges, who felt that it was an emotive and high-spirited performance. Todd scored them 9, Helen 8, Paul 8, Mark 9 and Bruno 9, for a total of 43 points.
Taking to the floor next were rugby player Wendell Sailor and his partner Linda De Nicola. Both were dressed in matching red and black as they danced an emotional Tango. The judges' reactions were mixed for what was essentially a quite difficult routine. Todd scored them 5, Helen 5, Paul 6, Mark 4 and Bruno 5, for a total of 25 points.
They were followed by Naomi Robson, dressed in a silver dress with gold fringes, and her partner Steven Grace, with a firing Jive routine. After their rocky start last week, the judges were impressed with the couple's improvements in both technique and performance. Todd scored them 5, Helen 6, Paul 6, Mark 6 and Bruno 6 for a total of 29 points.
The next couple to take to the floor were radio personality Fifi Box, dressed in a flowing black gown, and her partner Paul Zaidman, who danced a confident and dramatic Tango to The Chemical Brothers' version of the Mission: Impossible theme. All of the judges liked their technique and performance, but the choice of music led to some debate among the judges and a verbal stoush between Paul Mercurio and Paul Zaidman, which led to Paul scoring the couple 5, while the other judges each scored them 8, giving them a total of 37 points.
Coming on to the dance floor next were Olympic champion Tatiana Grigorieva, dressed in a silver mini-dress with black fringes, and her partner, Brendan Humphreys. They danced an energetic and precise Jive which impressed both the crowd and judges alike, with the latter commenting on their effort and choreography. All five judges scored them 7 each, for a total of 35 points.
Next up were horticulturalist Jamie Durie and his partner Amanda Garner, who were dressed in matching black and gold. Although there was a small mishap during their exotic Tango routine, the judges commented on the energy that they showed throughout it, but that they should watch their coordination. Todd scored them 7, Helen 5, Paul 4, Mark 5 and Bruno 8, for a total of 29 points.
They were followed by bloke from the bush, David Graham, and his partner Eliza Campagna, dressed in a black and white frilled gown, who tackled a difficult Tango routine. The couple's effort and choreography impressed the judges, who acknowledged that they had improved from last week. Todd scored them 5, Helen 5, Paul 5, Mark 6 and Bruno 6, for a total of 27 points.
The final couple to take to the floor were singer and musician Kate Ceberano, dressed in a slinky pink gown, and her partner John-Paul Collins, who performed a jam-packed Jive routine to the Wolfmother song The Joker And The Thief, a song that celebrated Kate's musical background. At the end of the routine, they did the splits. The couple had some initial concerns about their choice of song, but they proved to be unfounded as the judges and audience were overwhelmed and excited about their gutsy routine. Todd gave them the first 10 of the series, while the other four judges scored them 9 each, for a total of 46 points.
Then all of the couples came back to the floor to hear the announcement of the elimination. One by one, Daryl and Sonia revealed, in random order, the top eight couples based on the judges scores and viewer votes combined. The final two couples had to wait a moment longer before it was announced that Wendell and Linda were leaving tonight. The eliminated couple then took us out with another performance of their routine after Daryl informed us that the other nine couples' voting lines were now open.
