George R.R. Martin is yet to finish his fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, despite its TV show adaptation Game of Thrones ending with a whimper in 2019. The HBO show’s final season received a divisive response with many fans and critics unimpressed with the direction it took. Some actors in the show have also publicly disowned the ending.
Martin’s novels were yet to be complete when seasons 7 and 8 of the show went in an independent direction. The author is still working on the sixth novel of the series titled The Winds of Winter, which will be the penultimate book. However, the writer mentioned that the ending of the books will differ from the controversial finale of the HBO show.

Godzilla Minus One was truly a spectacle. The film has been regarded as one of the most successful films of the Godzilla film series, and its director, Takashi Yamazaki, can be thanked for it. The film has received a lot of critical acclaim for many different reasons. One of its most prominent assets is its visual effects, impressively winning the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
Godzilla Minus One
The film also made a lot of money during its box office release, almost going above $116 million worldwide. Despite all its success, it would seem that Toho Studios made a huge mistake less than a year after the film’s release that will certainly affect its profit.

The Game of Thrones finale left fans shocked as well as divided, particularly when it came to Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) descent into madness and destruction. While many were left questioning the character development and unexpected shift in behavior, the showrunners and the director have provided some insight into the reasoning behind Daenerys’ actions.
A Song of Ice and Fire novels by George R.R. Martin have long been beloved by a cult following. As a result, the HBO adaptation of the series achieved enormous mainstream success. With a remarkable cast, Game of Thrones was groundbreaking visually and deeply political. But season 8 disappointed a lot of fans when it came to the abbreviated but much-anticipated conclusion.

Throughout its eight seasons, Game of Thrones left no stone unturned to traumatize its fans by killing off characters whenever they got the chance. Both books and the television series have had fans bawling over the loss of their favorite characters, including Pedro Pascal’s Oberyn Martell.
Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones season 4
Pedro Pascal is one of those few actors who shine bright in whatever role they take. However, it was his time on Game of Thrones that truly showed his potential to the world and gave him a boost in his career. It didn’t take long for Oberyn Martell to become a fan-favorite character. This is why, when the show brutally killed him off, fans were devastated. Creator David Benioff once talked about why they decided to incorporate Oberyn’s death into the series.

Five years ago, Game of Thrones‘ penultimate episode dropped and garnered immense controversy following Daenerys Targaryen’s villain turn, which fans felt was half-baked and rushed. While the entire final season encompassed such issues, The Bells was deemed by many the worst of them all, which saw Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen wreak havoc in King’s Landing.
Even after half a decade since its release, the sentiment around The Bells hasn’t changed much, and the wound it inflicted on fans still remains fresh.

Daenerys Targaryen’s transformation from the Mother of all Dragons to a mad queen in The Bells was seen as out-of-character and jarring, which ultimately ruined her character for many fans. The episode sees her and Drogon burning King’s Landing to the ground, thus killing thousands of innocents in the process.

This article contains spoilers through Stranger Things season 4 and The Walking Dead.
To kill or not to kill? This is the question so many shows with large ensemble casts wrestle with as the tensions rise and the stakes become fatal deeper into the series. The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones took great pleasure in cutting down leading players like blades of grass in the springtime sun. It kept viewers on their toes, but it also hindered the strength of the respective casts. When too many fan favorites are whacked, it tests the loyalty of the people watching at home and the skills of the writers and directors to form a coherent story with the crumbs that remain.
Stranger Things weighs in on the other end of the spectrum. The Duffer Brothers have kept essentially every cherished character locked into the show from the debut season to the most recent one.

“Valar Morghulis”, “Say my name”, and “Zed’s dead baby”, all these dialogues make you think of the particular film or series that they are from. In this case, it was Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, and, Pulp Fiction respectively. The point is, that dialogues are memorable. Be it a one-liner or even some random nonsense (like Samuel L. Jackson’s “This is some serious gourmet sh*t” from Pulp Fiction), dialogues are important.
A great example of a powerful dialogue from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice “Tell me, do you bleed?”
On the contrary, directors like Denis Villeneuve and George Miller seem to state that dialogues only seem to slow the pacing of a movie. Well, they are right but not in a context that people understand. With great dialogues, the films are often slow and they take time to build these lines with character development. Movies like...

Following his December debut as the 15th iteration of the shapeshifting “Doctor Who” protagonist, Ncuti Gatwa is in the running for this year’s Best Drama Actor Emmy. As it happens, he is set to be joined on the nominations ballot by three actors who preceded him in the role of the Doctor, all of whom (like him) are seeking their very first Primetime Emmy notices.
Challenging Gatwa for inclusion in the 2024 drama lead lineup is Peter Capaldi, who played the 12th Doctor from 2014 to 2017. He currently stars on the new Apple TV+ series “Criminal Record” as Daniel Hegarty, a veteran police chief who clashes with a younger sergeant prying into a supposedly solved murder case.
Gatwa is concurrently eligible for a Best TV Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actor nomination for Apple TV+’s “Masters of the Air,” on which he portrays real-life World War II Air Force officer Robert Daniels.

George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones is known for many things. Be it the book or the television series, the story is full of excellently written characters and a world the viewer could get lost in. Despite all of its assets, the series is not for all audiences. Having a reputation for mature themes, it has a lot of nudity and violence; something it has been criticized for time and time again.
Ser Barristan Selmy’s death in HBO’s Game of Thrones
Martin has spoken on this more than a few times, voicing his disregard for such reproval and even defending it. Interestingly enough, he seems to have a theory as to why the violence in his series impacts audiences more, and the example ties in with George Lucas’s Star Wars franchise.

House of the Dragon was given an almost impossible task. Game of Thrones is considered a cultural phenomenon; it has raised the bar for quality and changed the way TV series are produced. However, all fans know that the first rule of this fandom is not to talk about the latest seasons.
The series' controversial finale, which was not supported by the original source material, undermined the audience's trust in the universe. It took a lot of skill and effort to fish something worthwhile out of the ashes and ruins that Benioff and Weiss left behind.
The first promotional footage of the series left conflicting impressions, and casting decisions raised questions. Some fans awaited House of the Dragon armed with skepticism, bias, and a willingness to bury the project under tons of criticism. But the first episode came out, and for many, skepticism gave way to surprise and then excitement.

The struggles within the Dutton family and between the family & outsiders over the Yellowstone ranch clearly drew parallels with the conflict over the Seven Kingdoms in Game of Thrones. The decline of Game of Thrones as a series has been one of the greatest tragedies in Hollywood. The series’ ending has been regarded as one of the most controversial in the history of television. While there were many reasons for such a big claim, Daenerys Targaryen’s decline into insanity and the suddenness of it can be labeled as the root cause.

If you're at all familiar with Marvel's First Family, then you'll know they've had to stop Galactus from consuming Earth on countless occasions. However, in Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four, it appears the World-Eater will have a very different reason for visiting the planet.
Undeterred by Disney and Marvel taking legal action to discover their identity, scooper @CanWeGetToast has shared a rumour today claiming that Galactus comes to Earth in search of Franklin Richards (who is reportedly "born in space").
The son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, Franklin is an incredibly powerful mutant with the ability to create new realities and even rewrite his own.
He has a complicated history with Galactus which has included him actually taking the villain's place in the "Earth X" reality and making the big bad his Herald back on Earth-616 to fend off a Celestial attack. We don't know which comics The Fantastic Four is pulling inspiration from,...

10. The Sopranos (1999–2007)
Ruthless, brutal, and merciless, but mob bosses are people, too — and their lifestyle takes a heavy toll on their mental health. An infamous New Jersey gangster seeks help and relays the events of his personal and professional life to his counselor, gripping you from the pilot episode with his bloody honest revelations and humanity.
You can watch The Sopranos on Hulu and Prime Video.
9. Supernatural (2005–2020)
The Winchesters are not only decent rifles but also great monster hunters. Supernatural follows two brothers who are roaming the US in their car searching for (you guessed it) supernatural threats to exterminate. From the first episode, you become invested in their search for their father and determination to help people.
You can watch Supernatural on Hulu, Netflix, and Prime Video.
8. The X-Files (1993–2018)
Speaking of the supernatural and unexplainable, The X-Files knows all about it. The show’s pilot immediately sets it up...

If you thought the twisted characters in Game of Thrones, which were adapted from George R.R. Martin’s acclaimed novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, were the epitome of evil, think again.
Martin, the mastermind behind the beloved and brutal fantasy series, once took to his personal blog to give his thoughts on the Emmy-worthy performance of Breaking Bad’s Ozymandias episode. And let’s just say he was just so impressed that, according to him, the episode was the ante in the realm of television monsters.

Martin lauded Breaking Bad and its protagonist, Walter White, as a greater monster than anyone in Westeros. Yes, you read that right. The man who created terrifying characters such as Ramsay Bolton and Joffrey Baratheon acknowledged that there is one supervillain who surpasses them all.

An epic fantasy show Game of Thrones that was keeping its fans close to the screen throughout its whole television run owes a significant portion of its fame not only to the competing plot based (partially) on George R. R. Martin’s book series, but also to the status of one of the most unhinged series ever made.
Though shockingly explicit scenes may have indeed drawn much more attention back then, the show’s no less epic sequel House of the Dragon is pretty much unlikely to go down the same road — and Game of Thrones’ disgusting moment is what we have to thank in this case.
Coming mostly from Martin’s books, the Game of Thrones’ plot nonetheless rarely shied away from its creators’ own ideas. Over the course of the years that the show was on air, all its main characters had their own ups and downs, but...

Pedro Pascal‘s career launched to new heights after his appearance on Game of Thrones. And he did so despite the less than impressive presentation of his audition.
How Pedro Pascal was cast in ‘Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal | Taylor Hill/FilmMagic
Game of Thrones fans may remember Pascal being cast in the series as the quick-witted Oberyn Martell in season four. With a little help from his friend Sarah Paulson, Pascal landed the role that would make him famous. But securing the role alone was no small feat. Showrunner David Benoiff was looking for a peculiar mix of characteristics when casting the Oberyn. And all of these traits might’ve been difficult to find in just one actor.
“That was such a tricky role to cast,” Benoiff told Variety. “Oberyn entered the story mid-stream, but required the swagger of a character who had been sparring with the other players off-screen for years.

Hiroyuki Sanada has been honing his acting skills for over fifty years, having started when he was six years old. He landed his first role opposite the celebrated Japanese actor and martial artist Sonny Chiba in Game of Chance. Since then, the Tokyo-born actor, 63, has barely decelerated.

That being said, we cannot overlook the brilliant performance he gave in Rachel Kondo & Justin Marks’ Shōgun. As Lord Yoshii Toranaga, he practically steals every scene of the FX series. Unfortunately, the 10-episode series is over, but he has starred in a number of similar flicks that are well worth your time.
Nevertheless, Sanada’s résumé includes a number of stellar but lesser-known roles. Rest assured, if you enjoy his portrayal of Lord Toranaga, here are three must-see films starring the talented actor that will satisfy your craving for more of his compelling performances.

George R. R. Martin is one of the most influential and famous writers of our times. Having created the brilliant mythos of Game of Thrones, the writer is also a screenwriter and producer. Having become a brand in their own right thanks to their work on Game of Thrones, Benioff and Weiss quickly (and anticlimactically) wrapped up the iconic TV show and jumped aboard the Netflix ship to create 3 Body Problem, their new big thing. While proving to be divisive, the new sci-fi series received mostly positive reviews — and recently found an unlikely fan and supporter in the King of Horror himself.
Stephen King Loved 3 Body Problem
One of the best things about following the King of Horror on social media is that he’s constantly consuming fiction — and is happy to share his feedback with fans.
The celebrated author focused not only on his own genre, horror, but also everything that catches his attention… Like 3 Body Problem which he just recently watched.
He loved it.

NBC is rolling out the red carpet to celebrate Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary.
Ahead of its upfront presentation next week to Madison Avenue ad buyers, the network on Friday announced that it has scheduled a three-hour primetime special to honor the anniversary. The special, which will also be live, is set to air Sunday, Feb. 16, from 8-11 p.m. Et.
That will cap what NBC says will be a “celebratory weekend” honoring the Lorne Michaels-created sketch show.
Additional details have not yet been announced as Michaels and company are in the home stretch of closing out SNL’s 49th season with alum Maya Rudolph set to host this weekend and Jake Gyllenhaal on deck for the May 18 season finale.
News that NBC would formally celebrate SNL’s 50th anniversary comes as no surprise as Michaels said last January that he was already planning for the February event.

Sophie Turner hasn’t acted a whole lot since “Game of Thrones” ended in 2019. She was in a Quibi show called “Wilderness,” had a viral cameo in Netflix movie “Do Revenge,” and was part of the ensemble in the Max limited series “The Staircase.” But she hasn’t had a lead role in a prominent series of her own.
But that’s changing, as Turner has signed on to star in “Haven” (working title), a British crime thriller that’s coming to Prime Video.
Turner will play Zara, an ordinary employee at a pension fund management company called Lochmill Capital, who is thrust into an extraordinary situation when a gang of thieves invade the office and force her and her friend Luke to transfer billions of pounds worth of pension funds. Recently Netflix released the first season of 3 Body Problem, based on the book of the same name by Chinese science fiction writer Liu Cixin. This novel and its two sequels in the 2000s made Cixin the most popular author in his country.
With such fame, a movie adaptation was only a matter of time. The creators of Game of Thrones, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, took over the development of the adaptation.
3 Body Problem Was a Good Sci-Fi Show, But Not a Masterpiece
Before its release, there were many concerns about whether the series would be at least somewhat interesting: the book seemed too complicated, and Benioff and Weiss tarnished their reputations with the ending of Game of Thrones. 3 Body Problem turned out to be not perfect, but very exciting – a little rushed, but addictive from the first minutes.

The possibility of a second season for FX’s brilliant drama Shōgun just increased dramatically.
While rumors of a hypothetical second season have persisted since season 1 wrapped on April 23, Shōgun season 2 is now closer to reality than ever. Today Deadline reported that FX had cut a deal with Shōgun producer and lead actor Hiroyuki Sanada to return for a second season. Obviously, there are many other line-items that must be checked off before creating a season of television, but getting the star to put pen to paper on a contract suggests that the network (and its corporate parent Disney) is serious about this thing. The news also comes as somewhat of a surprise given the show’s ending.
In our own breakdown on the potentiality of a Shōgun season 2, we noted that it would be difficult to continue the story of Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Sanada) and his establishment of the Edo Period.

Peak TV may be over, but even in a time of industrywide contraction, another era is forging ahead unabated: Welcome to Peak Franchise TV.
Spinoffs of successful series are almost as old as network TV itself — the first ones premiered in the late 1950s. The current state of the business, however, with its nearly boundless viewing options for both old and new programming, is uniquely set up to reward investment in building franchises. On the broadcast networks alone, the 2023-24 season will feature 21 scripted series that are part of a franchise, defined as a show that has spun off another series set in the same world or is itself a spinoff.
They range from Law & Order: Svu — the longest-running primetime drama in U.S. TV history — to Young Sheldon, the Big Bang Theory prequel that’s set to air its final episodes in May (and which itself will spawn another...

It's been more than a year since HBO's House of the Dragon concluded its first season, which more or less lived up to the high bar set for it by Game of Thrones. Though not quite as expansive as its predecessor, House of the Dragon still offered plenty of intrigue in setting up what will be known as the Dance of the Dragons: the great civil war between Targaryen heirs Rhaenyra and her half-brother Aegon II.
Now that all the pieces are in place — and indeed the first casualties of the war were felt in the Season 1 finale — all hell is poised to break loose in Season 2. The question is, when will those episodes make it to HBO? Here's what we currently know about the second season, which is poised to begin production soon.
Get ready for a summer of dragons — Season 2 premieres June 16 on HBO.

Marvel Comics is home to several powerhouses. While some have immeasurable raw strength, others are more mystical in nature. We have witnessed both of these to some extent in the MCU, but the horizons of power levels have expanded way beyond our imaginations once the Infinity saga ended and the Multiverse saga began.

We have seen glimpses of these kinds of powers in What If…? and Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. It’s official. Galactus is coming to the MCU.
After months of speculation, Marvel officially announced that they’ve found their Galactus. Ralph Ineson, a Game of Thrones veteran known for standout supporting roles in The Witch and The Green Knight, will portray the Devourer of Worlds. Ineson’s casting comes on the heels of other compelling announcements for its upcoming film The Fantastic Four, including Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich. Marvel hasn’t yet disclosed which characters those two are playing, but the smart money has Hauser down for the Mole Man. Malkovich could fit a number of characters, including minor baddies Puppet Master or Diablo, including just a grouchy official. Heck, maybe he’ll finally get to play a version of the Vulture, as he was slated to do in Sam Raimi’s abandoned Spider-Man 4!
While any of those baddies would be fun, the Galactus casting deserves the most attention.
This article contains spoilers for Blood of Zeus season 2.
Netflix has increasingly become the top place to turn for hard-hitting adult animation and Blood of Zeus immediately made waves upon its 2020 release. The Powerhouse Animation production remixes Greek mythology into an engrossing dark fantasy that feels like God of War meets Game of Thrones. Heron, the demigod son of Zeus, embarks on a bold and bloody journey for identity, autonomy, and authority that concludes the first season on an apocalyptic note where supernatural Giants storm Olympus and challenge its Gods. Blood of Zeus season 2 reaches such extreme heights that its freshman year almost seems quaint in comparison.
Zeus’ tragic death precipitates a terrifying power vacuum that throws Olympus into unprecedented chaos and lights a fire under Hades to steal his brother’s throne and claim what he believes to be his birthright. The growing war between Hades and Zeus, and Heron and Seraphim,...

"The Witch" and "The Green Knight" star Ralph Ineson is known for playing imposing, sometimes otherworldly figures (also: a love-to-hate-him character in the UK version of "The Office"), so it's only natural that he'll be playing a supervillain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. News broke yesterday that Ineson has been cast as Galactus, the planet-eating god figure whom Jack Kirby and Stan Lee first introduced during a Fantastic Four run in the '60s. Galactus appeared in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" in 2007, but this time around, the character will return to a much more interconnected Marvel world beginning with Phase Six kickoff "The Fantastic Four."
Ineson may have just nabbed a major role in the long-running superhero franchise, but this actually isn't the first time he's appeared in an MCU film. A full decade ago, Ineson popped up briefly in "Guardians of the Galaxy," playing a Ravager pilot.
