Featured review
Exciting story about a drug rip-off involving Ohara and $500K of police department money.
The highlight of this one is the car chase. Miami Vice, which was running on another TV network in the 1980's, had set the tone for cop-show car chases. They were using classy cars, with "real" music playing in the background. Following that trend, in this episode of Ohara we get a great chase scene. A pretty cocktail waitress fleeing on a dirt bike is followed by Ohara and Shaver in a classic Buick Skylark convertible. The Buick then gets into a road race with a 7-Series BMW. The music playing in the backround is "Stop the Lightning", by the 80's hair band Black 'N' Blue. Lots of high-speed turns, near misses, jumping over speed bumps, skidding around corners, all while the rock music blares away. Very well done.
Actress Olivia Barash is excellent as "Rita Riley", the annoying, ditzy punk rock wife of Shaver's snitch.
The scene at the Poetry Club should have been left out. Shaver and Ohara would not have had time to put on those silly costumes, and it was totally unnecessary. Comic relief or whatever, it comes up short.
A good episode with lots of action. 8 stars for "Take the Money and Run".
