The Adventures of Batman
- All of Gotham's water will turn to ice unless Mr. Freeze can be stopped but will posing as a criminal work for Batman? / Batman decides to go solo after Robin gets in his way while trying to apprehend the Joker.
- THE COOL CRUEL MISTER FREEZE - On a brutally hot day a criminal in an ice suit bearing an energy weapon that can freeze anything goes on a rampage. He is Mr. Freeze, and his rampage shuts off all of Gotham City's water; when Dick Grayson and Bruce Wayne notice the water at Wayne Manor is not running, they don their Batsuits and consult Commissioner Gordon, and their tracking leads to Gotham Harbor where they must thaw out several dock workers before intercepting Freeze at the Gotham Aquarium, where he freezes a monster water tank with a bull whale that is taken away via helicopter cranes.
Batman and Robin's pursuit of Freeze goes wrong and Freeze, thinking them dead, telephones Commissioner Gordon for a ransom of $1 billion within the day. Batman "consults" Bruce Wayne and Wayne agrees to pay his entire fortune as the ransom in gold bars on a freighter. When Freeze and his gang arrive they are jumped by the very-alive Batman and Robin, but in the ensuing fight Freeze grabs the freighter - then blows it up in the ocean. When Batman figures out why, he decides to trick Freeze into thinking he and Robin have turned to crime themselves, a ruse that seems to work until Freeze traps the Caped Crusaders and leaves them to be crushed in ice.
THE JOKE'S ON ROBIN - At Gotham Harbor Robin rescues a drowning man, who struggles with Robin with curious determination before being brought to safety. Soon the Joker begins another wave of crimes, but to everyone's surprise Robin's efforts with his utility belt all go wrong. Again and again Robin fails as Joker commits robberies, and eventually Batman decides Robin must rest, and as a result Barbara Gordon dons her Batsuit and joins Batman as he tracks down the Joker at a mammoth clock factory. There an errant clanger hammers Batman and Batgirl, knocking them unconscious and leaving them trapped in the spokes of gigantic flywheels to be crushed to death - until Dick Grayson and Alfred Pennyworth suddenly find out why Robin's utility belt isn't working.
CAN A LUTHOR CHANGE HIS SPOTS? - To the surprise of Jimmy Olson, criminal scientist Lex Luthor has convinced Perry White that he has gone straight, and has thus built a mammoth laboratory with which he has become the Daily Planet's Science Editor. Jimmy doesn't believe Luthor's story, but his efforts to expose Luthor begin going wrong when he fools around in his science lab and a gigantic antenna telescopes out of the Planet building and becomes a gigantic lightning rod requiring the intervention of Superman. Jimmy then follows Luthor with a device that opens the mammoth vault at the Metropolis Bank; Jimmy ambushes Luthor and destroys his invention - and all he's thus done is trap Perry White and the Metropolis Police Chief in the vault; making it worse Clark Kent has received a phone call for help from Lois Lane, aboard the submarine USS Perch caught in a gigantic undersea storm below the North Pole. Superman thus must rescue Lois before answering Jimmy Olson's emergency signal - and with even more trouble looming from, of all things, new water coolers installed throughout the Planet building.
SUPERBOY MEETS MIGHTY LAD - A powerful energy storm swells over Smallville, requiring the intervention of Superboy and Krypto, but to their surprise another teenaged metahuman appears and breaks up the storm - a blue-and-yellow costumed lad who boisterly identifies himself as Mighty Lad. He claims to be from Krypton, and Superboy is glad for his presence. Krypto, though, is turned off by the supremely cocky Mighty Lad, and becomes more suspicious when an undersea volcano erupts and later a rocket launch goes wrong - all bringing Mighty Lad to the scene almost before Superboy can do anything. The teenaged Kryptonian all the while scolds Krypto for his jealousy, until he notices the rescued rocket was sabotaged and now realizes Krypto's suspicion about Mighty Lad has legitimacy to it.
