Sex & Nudity

  • Two women make fun of another woman's undergarments asking if she wears it or flosses with it.
  • The main couple Sophie and Sky have a really sensual scene on the beach where they kiss and he gets on top of her. However, they get interrupted and pulled apart.
  • The song "Dancing Queen" contains the lyrics "You're a teaser, you turn 'em on".
  • A young male approaches a more mature woman on a beach during a musical number. He wants to pursue what happened between them "last night" but she will have none of it. She ridicules him and puts him into a makeshift thong.
  • There is slight innuendo/sexual references in some of the musical numbers. The most suggestive is "Does Your Mother Know?"
  • Male topless nudity for an extended period and the camera lingers on the male torso.
  • The premise of the film is that a woman is trying to find out who her father is, but because her mother slept with three men in a short amount of time, she doesn't know for sure who it is. The girl reads from her mother's diaries from the time of the love affairs, but no details are revealed.
  • A young man tries to seduce an older woman: she wraps a towel around his shoulders then moves down off screen and his face suggests that she might be doing something sexual, but we see that she had been tying a towel around his waist in the shape of a diaper.
  • A man's bare buttocks is briefly revealed when the towel he wears around his waist does not cover them.
  • Some suggestive lines, like a woman asking another another woman if she is "getting any."
  • Some mildly revealing outfits, (male and female) including tight clothes, low cut shirts, and shirts that reveal shoulders and backs. A female character spends time on a boat in a one-piece bathing suit. A male character spends time only in swim shorts. No nudity.
  • A woman places a phalic looking object between her legs in a musical number.

Violence & Gore

  • Rosie briefly hangs off the edge of a roof but it is played off in a humorous way.
  • Donna falls through the roof of a building but is not injured.
  • We see a small amount of blood on Sophie's leg from a nick while shaving.

Profanity

  • After Rosie and Donna tease Tanya about her thong underwear, she reiterates with "floss you!". An obvious euphemism of the "F" word.
  • Mild English profanity: "bugger" and "bollocks" show up only once.
  • "Hell" and "damn" are said two or three times each. "Ass" is said once along with a woman calling herself a "reckless little slut"

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Sky is smoking a cigar during "Lay All Your Love On Me". The song references this with the lyrics "you've heard me saying that smoking was my only vice".
  • In the song "Our Last Summer" Bill mentions "flower power". Referring to hippies who would often smoke marijuana.
  • During the "Dancing Queen" sequence Tanya sticks a blunt object in her mouth, referencing a cigar. She and Rosie then act like they are high.
  • Donna's friends offer her some prescription tablets to cure her blocked-up nose and runny eyes.
  • Some drinking, just mild.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • "The Winner Takes It All" number is very emotional, and may make some viewers cry.
  • We see an ugly looking fish in a basket with large piranha-like teeth.
  • A woman is seen hanging over a ledge briefly.. Mostly played out for comedic purposes.
  • The "Slipping through my fingers" number is very emotional. Most viewers cry a lot because of it.
