- With Aquaman packing multiplexes across the world, it's time for Vince to capitalize on his success and pick his next project. Ari reels off the list of offers for Vince. Flight: which is Dead Poet's Society, set in Space. They are offering Vince $8 million. The Sandman: Vince plays a retard at a Red Cross tent in the Sahara (Being There, meets Laurence of Arabia). They are offering Vince $9 million. They all want Vince and he has a stack of offers.
Ari informs Vince that the dream role of Pablo Escobar in "Medellin" is available, and all that he needs to do to land the role is to impress Phil Rubenstein (Bruno Kirby), the film's producer. Phil has bought the script and is reviving the Medellin project. Phil is behind the mega-hits such as Shrek and Madagascar. He wants to work with real people now and loves Vince. Paul Haggis is directing, and this is his first film since he won an Oscar.
The entire entourage attends a party at Rubenstein's Santa Barbara mansion, a kick-off party for his new wine. All is going well when Phil talks to Vince for 20 minutes straight. Dom steps into the conversation and tells the story about how Dom got arrested and Vince bailed him out at 3 am in the morning. Ari tells Vince that Phil will make an offer by the next morning. Phil can see that Vince is a street kid and that he gets this world.
All of the goodwill that Vince earns is destroyed when a prized model of Shrek doll disappears from the producer's house during the party. The cops are all over the case. Suspicion immediately turns to Dom (there were 300 people at the party, but Dom was the only one who served time for a conviction), but the ex-con flatly denies the theft. Dom says that his past will always haunt him. Dom says that he will never hurt Vince. E tells Vince that Dom is lying (Dom has a poker tell, and make a snorting sound when he is bluffing) Phil tells Ari that his maid saw Dom going upstairs. Phil doesn't care about catching Dom, he just wants his doll back. The Shrek doll represents a turning point in Phil's life.. It's the doll or Medellin. Ari even threatens Dom with the security camera tapes from Phil's house, but Dom calls his bluff & stands by his story.
Turtle, Drama and E don't believe Dom, but Vince does, and he won't waver in his support for his friend. Vince says that Dom would never intentionally do anything to harm Vince's career. "Medellin" is about to be totally derailed when Dom finally admits to lifting the doll during the party. Dom says that watched Shrek 400 times in prison, so when he saw the doll, he grabbed it.
The crew cut Dom loose (Vince gives him an apartment in LA) and surreptitiously return the model, only to learn that there's a new complication: "Aquaman 2" has been approved and is scheduled to start shooting the same day as "Medellin."
