Sam finally is willing to put it out there. He calls Diane and asks her to marry him. However, she insists on a more romantic proposal. He rents a boat and they go out in the harbor. And he asks her there. Of course, nothing is that simple. There are some great twists and turns. This has got to be one of the most convoluted relationships in all of film fiction.

At the conclusion of Season 4, Sam proposes to Diane over the phone. Because she feels this is such an important moment, she insists that he do the deed in a more romantic way. So he rents a boat and they meet in the harbor. But when he finally proposes, well, you can only guess. We know there will be continued sparks flying.

So it turns out the phone proposal was for Diane. But she wants a real romantic proposal. So Sam takes her out on a boat and proposes there, but she declines and he makes her jump into the water. She then says she declined because she is worried that the proposal only happened because his last relationship didn't work and he just wants anybody. She then comes to the bar and says she accepts but Sam tries to tell her that the proposal doesn't work.
Well the episode was slightly boring. But it had good moments. Frasier and Carla dancing when they find out she didn't accept was a fun one, as well as the reaction of the guys at the end when Sam asks if they think that him and Diane will ever be together again.
