Why Haven't We Seen More From Ms Chapman?
pcampionz10 April 2023
I have been doing a Wonder Years marathon over this past weekend. One episode after another, in order, from the beginning. Of course all of the episodes are great, however, a few stand out. Kevin's job at the hardware store, lessons learned in math class, etc. However, the episode with the teacher, Ms Shaw, is one of the best yet. Watching these episodes of TWY over 30 years after they originally aired is amazing. One would have think in 2023 they would be dated and for some reason they are not so dated to me. Anywho, this episode with the English teacher Ms Shaw was one of the better episodes in the series. One reason I am writing a review is I wonder what ever happened to Ms Chapman, the actress that played Ms Shaw. For the few minutes she was in the episode her character carried the entire episode. She reminded me of a Younger Alfie Woodard. Also, why can't they write shows like this anymore. The writing for this show is better than most shows. Check them out, you won't regret it.

TWYs takes on DPS

Warning: Spoilers
It's Dead Poet's Society shortened and almost just as sad. Teachers like Miss Shaw don't come around very often (heck the only one's I know of I've only seen in movies and T. V.) but when this particular topic is done, it has a way of making you think. Why is the method these teachers use so frowned upon? Why is EVERY Board of Education full of, well uptight idiots? It's teachers like Miss Shaw and Mr. Keating who make life more interesting and worth it.

Warning: Spoilers
I thought we were heading for a rehash of a previously used idea (an inspirational teacher impacts Kevin) but thankfully it goes in a direction that's new.

Another solid episode.
