  Flint McCullough : This is Miss Conchita Vasquez. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be here.

  Major Seth Adams : Comanchero.

  Flint McCullough : Huh, huh.

  Major Seth Adams : You help him get away? Why? What's your game, Missy? What are you up to?

  Conchita Vasquez : What does he mean, Senor Flint? Up to?

  Flint McCullough : It's all right, Conchita. The Major here is not very trusting. He thinks you've some sort of trick planned.

  Conchita Vasquez : Oh, no tricks, Senor. I just help Senor Flint to escape and I escaped with him, He tell me you will protect me.

  Major Seth Adams : You oughta know you can't trust a Comanchero any farther than you can throw a wild bull.

• Major Seth Adams : Flint!

  Flint McCullough : Yeah. What's on your mind, Major?

  Major Seth Adams : Well, I hoped I wouldn't have to spell it out for you. But it looks like I'm gonna. A gal like that Conchita can get under a man's skin before he knows what's happening to him.

  Flint McCullough : What are talking about, Major? She's just a little girl to me.

  Major Seth Adams : A little girl, huh. Sweet. gentle, innocent little girl. Just about as gentle as a she-badger, the claws just as sharp and you better look out for it, Boy.

  Flint McCullough : Don't worry about her. She's kinda strange, I'm just trying to make her feel at home. I got no more interest in her than you have.

• Major Seth Adams : You know something funny, Flint. I think, right now, if that girl told you the moon was made of green cheese, you'd believe her.

  Flint McCullough : I don't think that's funny.

  Major Seth Adams : Wasn't meant to be. Flint, we're in a tough situation. Sooner or later we're gonna have a showdown with those Comancheros. You and I have a big job taking care of all these people. There's room for personal feeling whatsoever.

  Flint McCullough : You got any complaints about the way I handle my job?

  Major Seth Adams : If I had, you'd have heard them.

  Flint McCullough : Well, I won't give you any reason to complain. You just run the wagon train. I'll take care of my job. And don't you worry about the girl either. I'll take care of her too.

  Major Seth Adams : All right, Flint. That's good enough for me.

• Flint McCullough : You're the one not thinking straight. All right, if you want the story of my life, I had a fight with her last night. She didn't take it very well 'cos I don't want to get married. I don't want to settle down. So she's run off to Carlos and fixed this whole scheme. Can't you see that?

  Major Seth Adams : The only thing I can see is a full-grown man acting like a lovesick puppy.

  Flint McCullough : We'll see. CONCHITA!

• Major Seth Adams : I sure don't like the looks of it.

  Flint McCullough : Well, I wouldn't take the train through if I were you, Major.

  Major Seth Adams : Don't think I will. BILL! You and Charlie, get every man armed and ready for action, will ya. Hop to it.

  Flint McCullough : I got an idea, Major.

  Major Seth Adams : Oh, what's that? Well, Flint, I'm just not gonna let you do it. I think you're just a plain fool if you go up there by yourself.

  Flint McCullough : Look, Major, I got you into this mess, and I'm going to get you out of it. If I come back in a few minutes, you know the plan has worked. If I don't, gp back to Paso Grande. Adios.

  Major Seth Adams : Well, it's your neck.
