After Hardie reveals his true identity and occupation as a Wells Fargo investigator Doc Bell exclaims "well I'll be a monkeys uncle". That expression wasn't coined until sometime after 1925 and was a reference to the Scopes monkey trial of 1925.
Doc Bell and Jim are on the run after escaping from prison. In order to get rid of their prison clothing they bushwhack an old man out on the prairie. Fortunately for them he has two sets of clothing, two horses, two revolvers and two gun belts. Better yet the gun belt and holster that Hardie gets is identical to the belt and holster he always wares and is even his trademark left handed holster.
