- George's telephone line crosses with that of a woman named Donna Chang, and everyone seeks her advice when she convinces them that she's Chinese. Jerry winds up dating her. Things get worse when Frank and Estelle announce a separation. Jerry and Elaine can't seem to figure out why Frank Costanza is having mysterious business dealings with a man in a cape.
- Jerry gets a date with a woman, Donna Chang, who due to a technical fault with the telephone lines is getting all of George's calls. He thinks she's Chinese (because her last name is Chang) but soon realizes that's not the case. Elaine and Jerry see George's father talking to a strange looking man wearing a cape but it's Donna who gets the scoop when she speaks to George's mother. Elaine is having trouble talking to her friend Noreen because Noreen's friend Paul won't stop chatting when she calls so she's taken to just hanging up, something that has a effect on Elaine and Paul's relationship. Kramer meanwhile is worried about his fertility, wondering if he's the last of the Kramer line. He goes to a clinic but is unnerved when the doctor tells him to stop wearing jockey shorts.—garykmcd
- Jerry and Elaine see George's father, Frank Costanza (Jerry Stiller), with a man in a cape (Larry David), but don't say hello. Later, Jerry relays the incident to George and they both wonder why the man was wearing a cape, and what he was doing with Frank. George's life is made miserable when the man in the cape is revealed to be Frank's lawyer and his parents are separating. Jerry talks to a woman, Donna Chang (Angela Dohrmann), on George's phone line after the wires get crossed and he gets a date with her, thinking she's Chinese because of her surname. Later, Jerry meets Donna, who is not Chinese, but actually shortened her last name Changstein to Chang while taking on Chinese stereotypes, such as displaying interest in acupuncture or on one occasion pronouncing a word with a Chinese accent.
Kramer goes to a fertility clinic when talking to Elaine he is worried that he wears Jockeys (& not boxers), & despite sleeping with many women over the years, he has never ever managed to impregnate one. Kramer says that he is the last male Kramer and that his lineage is facing extinction if he cannot reproduce. Kramer discovers he has a low sperm count and must stop wearing jockey shorts. Boxer shorts make him feel uncomfortable, so he decides to go commando. The boxers keep bagging up and there is nothing holding Kramer in its place. He is flipping and flopping.
Elaine ruins her friend Noreen's (Kelly Coffield) latest romance with a "long talker" Paul. Elaine hates it that Paul engages her in long conversations, every time she calls to speak with Noreen. Eventually Elaine learns that Paul & Noreen broke up. Jerry suggests that maybe it was because Paul thought that Noreen was having an affair (which would explain all the times when Elaine called Noreen and hung up when she found Paul on the phone). When Noreen finds out that it was Elaine who was calling and hanging up, she is upset, but then does realize that Paul was a "long talker". Then Noreen starts dating Kramer, who now starts screening Noreen's calls and stops Elaine from speaking to her. Kramer says that Elaine has been a destructive influence on Noreen's life. Kramer encourages Noreen to enlist back in the army. Kramer is ecstatic to find that Noreen has missed her period, which means that his sperm count has recovered.
Since the lines are crossed, basically Donna is getting all calls meant for George. Donna talks over the phone to George's mother, Estelle (Estelle Harris), convincing her not to divorce (by citing Confucius). Donna is the one who breaks the news to George that his parents are getting divorced. George is depressed since if the parents get separated, that means he has to visit each one of them separately. Twice as many visits. Estelle invites Donna over for dinner.
When George introduces Donna to his parents, Estelle realizes she is not Chinese and doesn't acknowledge her advice, deciding to proceed with the divorce.
At the end of the episode, Noreen is standing on the edge of the Queensboro Bridge considering jumping off when Frank Costanza's caped lawyer appears. She asks, "Who are you?" He responds, "I'm Frank Costanza's lawyer." He then leads her slowly and safely off the bridge.
