- Tod and Buz are in Riverside, California, home of the upcoming US Grand Prix. As car racing is not Buz's thing, he goes in search of other activities, and finds Miss Grand Prix, Roxy Dozy. More precisely, she finds him. Buz's primary task in spending time with Roxy is hiding her from Len Stadtler, Roxy's handler for the event. Tod, however, is in his element at the track, he who plans to enter the Corvette into the lower class production event and who has previously done some racing with his father. Based on his extremely fast preliminary lap times, Tod catches the attention of the Webster family. Cord Webster is a former World Champion and plans on racing the Webster Special in the Grand Prix. Katy Webster, his daughter and one of his mechanics, has a special bond with her father, and sees him as the World Champion he once was. Bea Webster is Cord's relatively new wife, who sees Cord's driving career near or at its end, as, at age fifty-three, she knows his reflexes and thus driving abilities are not what they used to be. Bea has had premonitions that if Cord drives in the race, he will crash and die. Katy, on the other hand, believes Bea is coming between Cord and his livelihood. Bea unilaterally asks Tod to drive the Webster Special in Cord's place. Tod ends up being caught in the middle of this family disagreement. What Tod decides to do may largely rest on his love at first sight feeling for Katy, who he believes could be the one. But Cord knows that the current family dynamic cannot continue as is, and he may take his own measures to resolve all the issues - family and driving - once and for all.—Huggo
