Mean-spirited!
That is I, for wanting to beat up on a show as overplayed and overtired as "The Odd Couple" in its fifth season, about five years after it should have been cancelled. But it's on my Tv now, and any discouragement given to such dreck is warranted.
No guy having grown up in NYC is likely to have had enough exposure to flamingos to have developed, much less to have had diagnosed, an allergy to them. No pet store in NYC, or anywhere else in the world, was stocking flamingos in the 1970s. And, why a frog from Yugoslavia? I guess it sounded too exotic for any USA audience to know anything about at the time, so whatever. There were no frogs in North or South America in 1974, they had to be imported from Balkan countries. Few people know that "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" was originally about a frog from the County of Kaleverovich, until Mark Twain travelled overseas and realized how BS that sounded.
Granted, most TV sitcoms have had their fair share of idiocy, but The Odd Couple was taking the lion's share on its day. Of course, in those days most US households were still buying clunker cars the size of battleships from the Big 3 automakers, so...
If the gratingly annoying antics of Tony Randall, along with a Jack Klugman who deserved better but was picking up a steady paycheck, strikes you as hilarious, then this is your show!
