Joel's Family
This may be the most touching of all the episodes. Joel gets the sad news that his Uncle Manny has died. This man was like a second father, introducing him to all kinds of wonderful experiences. The funeral is in Florida and there is no way for Joel to participate in any way. We find out about a Jewish ritual called Kaddish where here would be joined by ten other Jews to send his uncle on his way. So the townspeople of Cicely begin to try to find ten Jewish men. Maurice actually begins offering rewards for their participation. Soon things become surreal. Joel has a dream where he is in the old West and playing frontier doctor, when ten men come riding in on horseback, all Jewish cowboys, to do the job. Hilarious. The conclusion, however, is so touching. As a secondary story, two thugs show up at the radio station, and challenge Chris to a fight. They are part of a feud that his family has been in for decades. He also drags his brother in, and this leads to a final confrontation.
