  Stephanie 'Stevie' Mason : [secretary, on phone]  Yes, it's been set for, uh, ten o'clock on Monday. Right. Okay, we'll see you there. Mm.

  [cradles receiver, on her way home now, first looks in on her boss] 

  Stephanie 'Stevie' Mason : Hi, it's almost five-thirty. Anything before I leave?

  Gilbert Cole : No, I can't think of anything. Oh, wait, if you're going down, you could help a forgetful client retrieve his briefcase. He's on his way over. A silver sedan, chauffeur, the works.

  Stephanie 'Stevie' Mason : [smiling]  Sounds hard to miss. Anyone I know?

  Gilbert Cole : No. Just another wealthy bachelor with tax shelter problems.

  Stephanie 'Stevie' Mason : You're right. It's no one I know.

• Stephanie 'Stevie' Mason : [on to him, now playing him]  Gilbert. It's me, Stephanie. I need your help.

  Gilbert Cole : Where are you now, at home?

  Stephanie 'Stevie' Mason : No, they've got me at the Foundation, but I heard them talking about taking me to a retreat somewhere in the mountains. Someone's coming! I'll try to call you from there.

• Gilbert Cole : All right, you're here. What do you want?

  Michael Knight : Did you defend Stephanie Mason on criminal charges?

  Gilbert Cole : You have her! Is she with you?

  Michael Knight : I didn't ask you what you wanted. You asked me. Just answer my question.

  Gilbert Cole : If you get tough with me, I won't answer anything.

  Michael Knight : Stephanie Mason was never arrested on solicitation! But when it popped up on a computer, I started asking some serious questions. The first was who sought the phoney bust on her, and why! I'm still working on that one. The second question is who represented her.

  [eyes narrow:] 

  Michael Knight : I got that one, man! And that's you! Now my plan for the first one is to start rattling cages, and I'm gonna keep rattling cages till all the monkeys fall out, so you get yourself a real good grip!
