In this adventure, our hero jets off to the Riviera on a mission involving an elderly duchess and her memoirs, which might be embarrassing to various parties. The episode benefits as usual from the effortless charm of the great Robert Wagner, who is aided here by an excellent guest cast.
In the opening scene, who is the striking blonde who is Al's partner in flirtation, in the usual story opener? She looks familiar...it's none other than Cathy Lee Crosby, in her first credited screen performance! Stuart Margolin appears as the shady Count Stavro, his glory days as Angel in Rockford Files some six years in the future. Hermione Gingold does a fine job as the jovial duchess, and the young actress playing her niece, Al's romantic interest this outing, does well too. Helen Funai makes an appealing agent on the scene, bantering with Al. One wishes she had appeared in a lot more TV shows and films of the time. This is another solid "Thief" episode.
