This episode is actually the series pilot, but whose showing was delayed well into the first season.
Scotty says that he and Kelly are "The Green Hornet and his faithful valet Kato".
Guest star Roger C. Carmel would later appear in the Batman story A Piece of the Action/Batman's Satisfaction, in which The Green Hornet and Kato appear.
That's Sheldon Leonard (Episode Director) on the radio promoting "Rock and Roll".
Early in the episode the investigators question Robinson's livelihood and he declares that he's a tennis player. They assume "professional?" and he corrects them and says "amateur". To a modern viewer this might seem odd but this series took place before the "Open Era" of tennis which started in 1968. This was filmed during the "Amateur Era" of tennis, when there was an amateur circuit and a professional circuit, and the players never competed against one another. Professionals were not allowed to play in the Grand Slam (The Four Majors): Wimbledon, the US Open, the French Open, and the Australian Open. Amateur tennis players at the time could make a very good living, as Kelly Robinson's lifestyle depicts throughout the series.
On the train Scott says: " It's the third day of the month of the ram in the year of the tiger". Robinson says "It's Tuesday". Tiger years were 1950, 1962, and 1974. Because of the setting this must be 1962. The month of the ram is sometimes called the goat or sheep month, it falls in late June thru late July. The only date that fits those descriptions is June 26, 1962. That is 3.5 years before this episode aired on December 29, 1965.
