- TriviaAs an in-joke, one of the songs Norton plays on the piano is "Melancholy Serenade," the theme of The Jackie Gleason Show (1952). That is the song "from a long ways back" that Ralph puzzles over before he's interrupted by his neighbor banging on the door.
- GoofsMr. Parker's answer about the number of times "one" appears on the dollar bill would be incorrect if referring to a current Federal Reserve Note, where the number "1" in numeral or spelled-out form appears a total of 16 times: eight times each in both numeral form and spelled out. However, at the time this was filmed, the dollar bill in circulation was a Silver Certificate, where the numeral appears 9 times and spelled out 16 times for a total of 25.
- Quotes
Herb Norris: You know, I have a great deal of respect for bus drivers. It's always amazed me how you fellows who have this tremendous responsibility, and the tremendous number of people that you have to deal with, and the big machine, how you manage to remain so courteous and kind and considerate all the time.
Ralph Kramden: Yes sir.
Herb Norris: Well, of course, there are exceptions. For example, the other day, I was standing on Madison Avenue in the rain waiting for a bus, and as this bus driver bore down on me, I signaled for him to stop, and you know, instead of stopping, he went right by, went right through a puddle, and splashed mud all over me?
Ralph Kramden: Was that you?
Herb Norris: Mr. Kramden, I hope you win some money tonight, because I have a cleaning bill for you.

Ralph gets the green light to go on the tv show, the $99,000 Dollar Answer, a wild take-off on the top rated $64,000 Question at the time and a variation of Name That Tune. Take your pick. It's actually revealed that Ralph has a fantastic memory for music and naturally could win big bucks on a game show. The problem is his ego, growing by leaps and bounds, and Norton who is a frightmare to rehearse with. Jackie truly shows what a great comedian he was in scenes like this.
Ralph flirting with fame on a national tv show, what could be better, and with some similarities to his other famous tv appearance as the "Chef of the Future."
And just who was the composer of Swanee River? SEASON 1 EPISODE 18.
