- Captain Archer and temporal agent Daniels have been stranded in the 31st century. In a library they investigate the damage to the time line and try to find way a to get Archer back in his own century. Meanwhile Silik the Suliban leader is trying his utmost to find the whereabouts of Archer and he is willing to go far for the answer. But the crew of Enterprise has plans of their own. Trip finds a way to use the com system and is able to speak with Reed. Together they try to contact other crew members and make plans to purge Enterprise of the Sulibans.—Arnoud Tiele (imdb@tiele.nl)
- Captain Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula); Sub-Commander T'Pol (Jolene Blalock); Commander Charles "Trip" Tucker III (Connor Trinneer); Lieutenant Malcolm Reed (Dominic Keating); Ensign Hoshi Sato (Linda Park); Ensign Travis Mayweather (Anthony Montgomery); Doctor Phlox (John Billingsley);
With Archer gone, T'Pol chooses to surrender the ship to the Suliban to let them verify his disappearance. They do not find any trace of Archer, but they retrieve their data disks and detect a temporal signature in the turbo-lift Meanwhile, in the 31st century, Daniels realizes that there is no available technology to send Archer back to his time-line and, because of this, the time-line has been disrupted. Daniels also figures that the Federation never came into existence due to the altered time-line (a monument to the federation went missing in the 31st century). Daniels now knows that Silik was after Archer and by bringing Archer to the 31st century he caused the destruction that he was hoping to avoid. His only chance of restoring the time-line is to get Archer back to the 22nd century as soon as possible. Archer gives Daniels his communicator and scanner, allowing Daniels to make a device able to contact Enterprise. Meanwhile the Enterprise is 3 days overdue for its meeting with the Vulcan ship where it was supposed to hand over T'Pol and Phlox.
The Suliban take Enterprise to a nearby helix, and Silik interrogates T'Pol to learn where Archer has gone, but she knows little (and keeps repeating that time travel is impossible). When T'Pol is returned to her quarters, Archer contacts her and gives her instructions on how to bring him back. Meanwhile, Tucker is able to set up a communication link between the senior staff, and they plan an escape. The plan begins when two Suliban find T'Pol acting strangely and are knocked out by Reed and Ensign Mayweather. Reed then goes to Daniels's quarters to retrieve a futuristic device but is caught by the Suliban. During interrogation, he tells Silik that Archer gave him orders to destroy the device, to prevent him from using it to get in touch with the Suliban's contact from the future.
Silik then tries to contact his master but he only succeeds in bringing Archer back, Daniels and Archer having managed to set up a device that allows them to return Archer to his time using the communication device as a 'target'. Meanwhile, on Enterprise, a faked warp core breach is initiated By Tucker and T'Pol, forcing the Suliban to evacuate the ship and tow it away from the helix. As soon as they are freed, Enterprise regains engine power and goes to warp, pursued by 30 Suliban ships. Archer destroys Daniels's device and, having taken Silik hostage, secures their escape. The reunited crew finally present their proof to Starfleet Command and the Vulcans. Soval still recommends cancellation of the mission, but Archer promises that humanity will learn from their mistakes. T'Pol supports him, adding that the Vulcans should learn from their mistakes as well. Soval exits, and it is decided that Enterprise's mission will continue for now.
