Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Damron, Xindi reptilian) said in an interview that the character makeup process required for the role nearly convinced him to quit acting altogether.
In the Future's End (1996) and Future's End: Part II (1996) serial on Star Trek: Voyager (1995), Tom Paris and Tuvok also "borrow" a blue Dodge Ram truck, same as Captain Archer and T'Pol do in this episode.
T'Pol asking Archer if he is familiar with driving a truck recalls a similar line in North Star (2003), where T'Pol asks Tucker if he knows how to ride a horse. In both instances, the officer doesn't, but assumes that his past experience will be sufficient.
The idea of characters coming back to the same time period as the real-life filming is similar to Assignment: Earth (1968), Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) and Future's End (1996). This episode was filmed and aired in 2003 and Archer and T'Pol travel back to the then-future year of 2004.
Only three of the seven main cast members appeared in this episode, the fewest of the entire series run. Only Captain Archer (Scott Bakula), T'Pol (Jolene Blalock), and Commander Tucker (Connor Trinneer) appear on screen; with Tucker appearing in just two scenes. Lt. Reed (Dominic Keating) makes a voice-only appearance via communicator while Ensign Mayweather (Anthony Montgomery), Ensign Sato (Linda Park), and Dr. Phlox (John Billingsley) are entirely absent from the episode.
