Eddie's La Back
Hitchcoc28 August 2019
When the ice show is back in Boston, Eddie is so happy to see Carla. But there is a fly in the ointment. An East German figure skater is now in the show, and Carla thinks Eddie is having an affair with her. I just get a bit tired of the Carla/Eddie episodes. There is a funny opening after Rebecca asks Woody not to disturb her.

Shades Of The Algonquin Round Table...
Bolesroor30 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I love the opening to this episode, and the dysfunctional mother-child relationship it establishes between Woody and Rebecca. That could have been it's own show...

The rest of this outing is very unusual... Eddie may or may not be having an affair with an ice show co-worker with the impossible name of Franzi Schrempf, so Carla decides to do a bad impression of a 1950's television housewife in order to win him back. Yikes...

Frasier shows off his briefcase phone while Carla and Eddie bang against the door of the bar... how romantic! I'm not sure how this idea ever seemed promising to the brilliant Cheers writers, but somewhere along the way this offbeat storyline snuk through the cracks. Cliff does get in a classic anti-Communism rant and Frasier does a great slow burn surrounded by the blue-collar slobs at the poker game, but there's not much here to remember.

EDDIE PREFERS EAST GERMAN COMMIE OVER CARLA...OR DOES HE?
talula106013 December 2019
The Carla episodes are always the worst ones in general because Carla has only one emotion: anger. Even when she's supposed to seem hurt or upset, it usually always comes out as anger. Therefore, her episodes get boring quickly. I did love when Sam was trying to tell Carla to be nice to her husband and she was totally appalled that he suggested it. The fact is that nobody said what was actually the truth. That Carla had absolutely nothing to recommend her to Eddie or any other man. Not only is she a totally rude, mean-spirited, angry, vicious harridan-like woman but she also never ever fixes herself up. Even at her own wedding, she couldn't be bothered to fix her hair or even slap on a little makeup. She's not a very attractive woman naturally nor does she have any curves to speak of but you would think she would at least try to make herself look nice once in awhile for her own husband. Again, she is outraged at the very thought of doing something for someone else that doesn't benefit her. Apparently, the actor playing Eddie agreed about Carla because he was fired from the show for making a joke on a radio show about how awful it is to kiss Carla. Rhea Perlman happened to hear his comments and asked for him to be written out. The actor tried to defend himself by saying he was referring to the character Carla, not the actress Rhea but the damage was already done.

Those Lips, Those Ice (#7.5)
ComedyFan20104 June 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Eddie is part if the ice show and his partner Franzi comes to the bar. Cliff heard that she had an affair with all of her partners and Carla gets nervous. There are also some rumors about Franzi being seen with a melon headed man. Carla tries to keep Eddie by being the perfect housewife but then finds out that he never had an affair.

The story of the episode doesn't sound that exciting but I was laughing all through it. Had so many great moments. In the main story the best part was Carla getting mad when she finds out there was no affair and throwing everything from the poker table outside. The part with Sam wondering how to join communism was wonderful as well. And Frasier was the best as always with his suitcase phone. Ah the days when there were no cell phones! Him putting the password as Jung's address (and wondering before if it was Freud's birthday) was brilliant.
