Too Much Sam and Diane
Hitchcoc9 August 2019
When Carlo refuses to trade nights with Diane, she appeals to Sam. When he wavers, she decides to quit and look for a new job. Things go awry quickly when Diane's potential new employer is only interested in her sexually. From here things get just plain stupid.

Personal Business (#2.3)

Warning: Spoilers
Carla is unhappy because she feels that Sam is taking Diane's side and so Diane tries to find a new job. But it looks like all of them are interested in her sexually. So Sam offers her to stay. And Norm in the meantime has troubles with his wife who separates from him and has Carla help him by pretending to be his date.

Didn't really like this episode. It had good potentials about dating at work place, hired with sexual intentions etc. But it made no sense how they wrapped it up. Diane obviously started the job out of desperation so the joke that she was after Sam was kind of missed by me. And unlike all the other episodes it lacked on a lot of fun parts.

More snappy dialogue than plot, but not bad.

Another week, another Sam & Diane episode. This one isn't exactly vital to the larger story arc, but there's some fun back and forth between the leads.

Concerned that Sam is showing her favouritism at the bar, Diane decides to quit in the most pretentious way possible. Sam and Cliff might not get the reference to Voltaire, but Diane definitely means it. She can't just define herself as The Boss's Girlfriend, so she ventures out into the Real World in search of work.

The subplot starts another story arc that will span the season: trouble in Norm's marriage. It's not exactly material for comedy gold, but the bit where Carla poses as Norm's sexy new girlfriend is pretty good. In general, this is a workmanlike episode: nothing special, but not without some funny bits.

The Sam + Diane thing is getting old.

Warning: Spoilers
Rewatching this show again so many years after it first came out,I am struck by how downright annoying the whole Sam and Diane relationship is. The problem is,it is so overdone, and so overplayed that it pulls all of the life out of the rest of the show. Ted Danson and Shelly Long are both quite talented and do a great job with their parts, the problem is with the writing. Diane and Sam just recently started 'dating' (to put it gently). Sam as a boss starts showing obvious favoritism towards Diane at the bar and Carla calls Sam out on it. This blows up and Diane quits her job at the bar. This is the perfect clean break that Sam and the bar need. It doesn't last long. Diane does indeed find a job in another field of work but her new boss has the same illicit intentions towards her as Sam does. What (who🤡) will she do ? 4/10.
