With Sam's restoration of ownership of Cheers, the pictures and other bar set decorations have been restored to their places as they were at the end of the fifth season, discarding all of the changes to the bar set made in the sixth season premiere.
When Kirstie Alley became pregnant over the summer, the writers planned to make Rebecca pregnant. And the story line would be "Who's the father: Robin or Sam?" They filmed the first four episodes of the season (not yet introducing the pregnancy) and then Kirstie Alley miscarried. So, the story was scrapped.
Although Sam restores the bar with his pictures and memorabilia there's one picture that seems to disappear. During Sam's first ownership of the bar there was picture, on the wall adjacent to his office, of a fisherman. It's prominently seen during the first five seasons and is usually seen in shots behind were Cliff, Paul, and Norm sit in the bar. It's one of the few things that survives into Rebecca's management tenure of the bar due to it going with the nautical maps a pictures she displays on the bar's walls. From this episode to the end of the series the fisherman picture disappears.
This is the last episode in which the brass ship's wheel and thermostat can be seen on the back wall.
The title is a nod to the song Love is a Many Splendored Thing by Sammy Fain and Paul Francis Webster.
