- On Thanksgiving, all the orphaned bar regulars gather for dinner at Cheers. These include recently-separated Frasier and his son Frederick; Carla and three of her kids--Lucinda, Jesse, and Elvis; a Vera-less and somewhat-confused Norm with his Barcalounger; a Ma-less Cliff; host and hostess Sam and Rebecca; and briefly and unexpectedly, John Allen Hill, whose kitchen, silverware, dishes, and candlesticks the gang are using. Woody is having dinner with the Gaineses; Mr. Gaines recently made Woody sign a power of attorney document, and Sam thinks that the Gaines family is taking advantage of naive Woody. Sam suggests that Woody stand up to Mr. Gaines--say he should be ashamed of himself and give Woody the respect he deserves. Woody does so, but not before he walks in on Mr. Gaines hooking up with his sister-in-law Katherine. When Woody busts out his speech, Mr. Gaines thinks he's blackmailing him, so he goes along with everything, including chumming around together doing Woody's favorite "lower-middle-class activities," as Mr. Gaines calls them. However, Woody saw nothing between Mr. Gaines and Katherine.—Huggo
- Rebecca decides to hold a Thanksgiving dinner for the 'Thanksgiving Orphans' of Cheers. Sam suggests that they hold the festivities at Cheers. The guest list soon includes Sam, Rebecca, Norm, Cliff, Frasier, his son Frederick, & Carla and her kids.
Meanwhile, Kelly Gaine's father Walter, stops by the bar and asks Woody to sign a Power of Attorney form for him. Woody signs it with very few questions asked, prompting Sam to speak up that Woody should stand up for himself, and to have Walter stop treating him like a child.
Woody takes Sam's advice, and goes to the Gaines Mansion to confront his father-in-law. However, Woody comes into Walter's office, and sees him pop his head up from behind his desk. Woody assumes that Walter is exercising, and excuses himself, not realizing that Walter sister-in-law was behind the desk with him.
Walter assumes Woody saw, and rushes out to explain, when Woody decides to lay his prepared speech on Walter, telling how disappointed he is in Walter, and how he should be ashamed of himself. Walter assumes that Woody is talking about the affair, and agrees to Woody's terms to have the Power of Attorney torn up.
After this, Walter agrees to many other activities Woody wants to do, which slowly makes the eccentric businessman exasperated.
Meanwhile, the Thanksgiving event at Cheers goes off without a hitch, though Rebecca has skimped on the decorations budget by recycling Halloween decorations, and 'borrowed' plates and other items from Melville's upstairs.
As the meal continues on, Sam proposes a toast to the owner of Melville's, John Allen Hill. As if on cue, John comes down the stairs, claiming the silent alarm at Melville's was tripped, and he came to see what was going on. However, John takes pity on the group, and just tells them to return and clean the items they have taken, before departing.
Meanwhile, at the Gaines Estate, Woody and Kelly are attending Thanksgiving dinner with her family. Before dinner, Walter takes Woody aside, and tells him how he's getting rather tired of doing so many mundane activities to have Woody keep his secret about him and his sister-in-law. It is here that Woody now realizes just why Walter has been so quick to do things with him. Though Walter is worried Woody will tell, Woody claims that the details of that relationship are 'between him and Satan.'
Walter thinks he's gotten off the hook, when the family butler Hives tells Walter that 'they need to have a talk,' seeing as he has now overheard Walter's secret affair.
