Hillary Clinton tells Andrew Marr she was shocked by the sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein, and says more should be done to stop sexist and misogynistic behaviour. Over the past two weeks, a growing scandal has surrounded the film producer, with close to three dozen women alleging sexual harassment after a New York Times report detailed eight settlements Weinstein had made with accusers

Chancellor George Osborne has given a flavour of some of the cuts the BBC could be forced to make after Wednesday's (July 8) Budget.
Speaking on The Andrew Marr Show, the Chancellor criticised the broadcaster for having "imperial" ambitions.
He singled out the BBC's website as an area where some savings could be made.
"If you've got a website that's got features and cooking recipes - effectively the BBC website becomes the national newspaper as well as the national broadcaster. There are those sorts of issues we need to look at very carefully," he said, hinting that it will likely fall under the BBC's charter renewal.
"You wouldn't want the BBC to completely crowd out national newspapers. If you look at the BBC website it is a good product but it is becoming a bit more imperial in its ambitions."
He added: "The BBC is also a publicly funded institution, and...

November 10th, 2013, 5:52am– This morning, Rupert Grint appeared on The Andrew Marr Show on BBC One. He was interviewed in the beautiful Harold Pinter Theatre where he is currently playing Sweets on stage in Mojo. Rupert talked about what it’s like to be on stage, calling it “thrilling” – but he also said that he had never thought stage work was something he would do since he’s a nervous person in general (we would just like to add that we’re So happy Rupert decided to do this!!). We also find out how he deals with being recognized everywhere as well as what it was like playing Cheetah Chrome in Cbgb. We are working on getting this lovely interview online for all of you to see. Rupert on the Andrew Marr Show You can see some screencaps from the show in our gallery here. - See more at: http://www.

The latest Doctor Who casting rumour (yes, they're still going) involves the Eleventh Doctor, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Neil Gaiman...
You'd think the Doctor Who casting speculation rumours would have died down now that, well, they've cast the Twelfth Doctor. Apparently not.
Neil Gaiman stirred up further whispers on his online journal this week in a post-Capaldi entry in which he announced "Would I like a person of colour as the Doctor? Absolutely. I have no doubt there will be. I know one black actor who was already offered the part of the Doctor, and who turned it down."
Gaiman's words set minds racing through potential candidates, from long-time fan favourite Paterson Joseph, to David Harewood, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor and more. The author and screenwriter clarified later that he wasn't referring to the role of the Twelfth Doctor, ""Do you think I have anything...

Mlk Box Office: ‘Mama’ Tops With $33.2M, Arnold Flops, ‘Silver Linings’ Expands, ‘Broken City’ Tanks
Sunday Am 2Nd Update: The big news is that washed-up Arnold Schwarzenegger flopped in 10th place playing a washed-up lawman in The Last Stand (2,913 theaters). “Nobody wants to see Arnold,” one rival studio exec giggled to me. Lionsgate should demand its money back from Arnie who clearly can’t open a movie anymore even with a ‘B’ CinemaScore from audiences. Pic made only a pathetic $6.7M for the 3-day weekend and no more than $7.7M for the 4-day holiday. I don’t think that even covers Schwarzenegger’s cigar bill. The actioner featuring The Guvernator’s first solo comeback to the big screen was just one of the major releases that opened for the long Martin Luther King holiday weekend. Saturday’s business “was shockingly good,” execs told me, once again demonstrating that the theatrical business is kicking butt with audiences even if Arnold isn’t. Bombing as well was...

Andrew Marr is recovering from his stroke. The 53-year-old BBC journalist was taken ill last Tuesday (08.01.12), but is now on the mend and has been listening to his favourite Radio 4 shows from his hospital bed and having physiotherapy to aid his recovery. His friend told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''He has even asked people to get him some CDs of Radio 4 output, and one of his requests was for the Desert Island Discs with philosopher Isaiah Berlin. ''We very much hope to be welcoming Andy back to the airwaves.'' In the presenter's absence from BBC One's 'The Andrew Marr Show' and...

Lord Patten has addressed rumours that the corporation may drop Newsnight following the programme's editorial crisis. The BBC Trust chairman said that the end of BBC Two's late-night 50-minute political review slot would be "very sad". George Entwistle yesterday brought to a close the shortest ever reign as director general, resigning after 55 days due to a second scandal at Newsnight involving the false implication of a former politician in sex abuse claims. Interviewed on The Andrew Marr Show, Patten said that an unnamed Newsnight presenter is making a "rather quick judgement" by apparently (more)...

Britain's Prince William will not become king before his father. Prince Charles has no intention of stepping aside and allowing his son to take to the throne as the next British monarch, according to former British Prime Minister Sir John Major. John told The Andrew Marr Show: 'The queen took an oath at her coronation, that she would remain as queen for the rest of her life. When, hopefully in many years hence the queen is no longer with us Prince Charles will become king. There can be no question of skipping a generation, it simply is not going to happen. After the queen will come Prince Charles, after Prince Charles will come Prince William, that is a matter...

Actor Jeremy Irons used an appearance on a U.K. political TV show on Sunday to tackle Britain's Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg about the huge bonuses awarded to bankers.
The Brideshead Revisited star was appearing on The Andrew Marr Show to promote his new film Margin Call, in which he plays an investment boss on Wall Street just before the 2008 banking crash.
He was joined by Clegg on the show, and took the chance to question the politician about bankers who pay themselves vasts amounts of money despite the U.K. struggling with economic stagnation and austerity cuts.
He told Clegg, "There are an awful lot of people hurting at the bottom of the chain and I think it's just bad manners... last year's bonuses were a slap in the face for a lot of people.
"We're asking the people who created this situation to sort it out. We need young people with new ideas to see how we can create a balanced economy in the future."...

Saturday Pm/Sunday Am, 3Rd Update: After some initial uncertainty, this was indeed the comeback weekend that finally ended Hollywood's extended 2011 slump at the North American box office. Because after a weak Friday, most of these pics grossed stronger on Saturday. The overall total is around $125 million, ahead of last year's $113M. Meanwhile, this weekend Twentieth Century Fox's Rio 3D posted the best G-rated family pic opening since Toy Story 3, The Weinstein Co's Scream 4 whimpered, Warner Bros' Arthur slipped still more, FilmDistrict's Insidious and Soul Surfer stayed strong, and Robert Redford's The Conspirator debuted #9 in the Top 10 despite playing in only 707 theaters: 1. Rio 3D (Fox) New [3,826 Theaters] Friday $10.2M, Saturday $19M, Weekend $40M, Global $168M Twentieth Century Fox's Latin-flavored toon Rio 3D already is #1 internationally with after opening in 92 territories and a premiere in Rio De Janeiro. With this weekend's $53.5M earned overseas adding to its already $79.2M, plus domestic tally of $40M,...

Sorry for delays... circumstances out of my control. Saturday Pm/Sunday Am: Here are the Top 10 North American grosses for Friday, Saturday, weekend and cume: 1. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (Fox) New [3,565 Runs] Friday $7M, Saturday $7.6M, Weekend $19M Is it possible to make a sequel 23 years later? Only if it's an iconic original about a still relevant subject featuring a fascinating anti-hero made by a controversial director with a fine cast. The Hustler sequel Color Of Money had a 25 year span and did fine. And for weeks tracking had been strong for Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. I've been obsessed with this from development through casting into production because the 1987 movie was so seminal. After all, that den of thieves is as responsible for our current financial crisis as are the politicians. The question is whether filmgoers are ready to relive pain that hasn't ended or rewind history skewed by the crazy Oliver Stone.

Like his characters, Robert Harris has often found himself close to news in the making. As his 'Tony Blair' novel hits the cinema, he reveals why his friendship with Roman Polanski has lasted, but his affair with New Labour has not
Tony Blair is not on record as having read Robert Harris's 2007 novel The Ghost, a rip-snorting thriller about an ostentatiously groovy ex-prime minister accused of war crimes after secretly approving the transfer of British al-Qaida suspects to Guantánamo Bay, and the ghostwriter hired to write his memoirs. Perhaps Blair got the book out on John Prescott's library card, or happened upon a copy in Silvio Berlusconi's downstairs loo. All that really matters is that he knows of the novel's existence. It was in regard to The Ghost, after all, that he described its author as "a cheeky fuck". The 53-year-old Harris chuckles so warmly...

Nicole Kidman iced over when British reporter Andrew Marr brought up "one of the things you haven't talked about before" on his BBC show. That topic was her ex-husband's religion. "Scientology," said Marr. "A lot of people would say it is a bullying cult." Kidman stumbled over her response before deciding she wasn't going to give one. "I just don't . . . This is just so not . . ." she said. Then, "I'm here to publicize 'Nine.' If I was here to do an expose on myself then I'd be like, 'Let's go,' but I have no interest in discussing any of that." "You don't want to talk about Scientology?" Marr persisted. "No, I'll talk about 'Nine,'" said Kidman. The tense exchange was scrapped from the television version of 'The Andrew Marr Show' but released online by the BBC. Watch: Get HuffPost...

Actress Nicole Kidman was momentarily lost for words when a British interviewer asked her about Scientology. The star, who was a member of Scientology when married to Tom Cruise, was being interviewed by BBC journalist Andrew Marr to promote her new movie Nine when the awkward moment arose. The frosty exchange was cut from Sunday's edition of The Andrew Marr Show but has now become a popular download after the BBC released the footage on the program's website. Marr tells the Australian actress he wants to: 'Raise one of the things you haven't talked about before.' 'There are many things I haven't talked about,' replies the Oscar winner. 'Here's one,' persists Marr. 'Scientology -...
