As she gears up for the release of The Tortured Poets Department later this month, Taylor Swift has shared five new playlists on Apple Music comprised of her old songs, angled around the five stages of grief and heartbreak: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
Swift shared brief audio messages with each playlist, and the first playlist, titled “I love You, It’s Ruining My Life Songs” represents denial. “This is a list of songs about getting so caught up in the idea of something that you have a hard time seeing the red flags,...

Taylor Swift performs two surprise songs for the acoustic set during every show of her Eras Tour and she has already performed a ton of incredible tracks across the first year of her tour.
The 33-year-old singer is currently on the international leg of her tour and there was recently a rule change.
Taylor previously made a rule that she’s only allowed to repeat songs if she messes them up the first time or if they’re from Midnights, her most recent studio album. Well, that’s no longer a rule!

“This is sort of like a public service announcement … I’ve been thinking, I want to be as creative as possible with the acoustic set moving forward. I don’t wanna limit anything and say, ‘Oh, if I’ve played a song before I can’t play it again.

Now, we’re wondering who exactly Hannah Carson is, and it’s in the third episode that we meet her. She believes in all kinds of impossible things, she tells him. He turns to her for help during the jump, then goes to see her and thank her after. To his surprise, she knows the general theory of relativity, and she explains that she wanted to be a scientist. She studied mathematics and physics and got a job as...

[This story contains spoilers for the finale of Apple’s Shrinking, “Closure.”]
For Shrinking viewers who want more of Liz and Derek, look no further than Christa Miller.
The actress plays Liz in the Apple grief comedy, the helicopter neighbor with a big heart to Jason Segel’s grieving therapist Jimmy. She’s also the series’ music supervisor — yes, she orchestrated Harrison Ford’s memorable rendition of “Every Morning” — and she’s married to Shrinking co-creator Bill Lawrence, a relationship that has hilariously (see interview below) seeped into the show’s onscreen twosome of Liz and Derek, played by Ted McGinley.
“There’s a scene where my [retiring] husband tells me, ‘Look, I’ve been working my ass off, and you’re going to have to find a way to do something out of the house.’ And the writers make fun of my husband because they say to him, ‘Would you ever say that to Christa?’ And he would say,...

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from “Closure,” the Season 1 finale of “Shrinking,” now streaming on Apple TV+.
Throughout “Shrinking,” Jimmy (Jason Segel) makes a handful of questionable decisions as a therapist. However, his session with Grace (Heidi Gardner) in the final episode seemingly encourages her to make a dire decision. While telling Jimmy she’s finally standing up to her verbally abusive boyfriend, Grace jokes that he’s lucky they’re not on a cliff because she’d push him off. Jimmy cheers her on, telling her, “That’s what I’m talking about! Off the cliff! Bash his brains! Eat them up!”
The episode ends, however, with her boyfriend threatening her on a hike and her pushing him off the cliff.
“One of the things that we did think was really, really important was to make sure that the show was honest. And Jimmy is behaving erratically and...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Shrinking Season 1 Episode 10, “Closure.”] Shrinking may have tackled a rollercoaster of emotions over its first season, but the finale, “Closure,” ended on a relatively happy note with the wedding of Jimmy’s (Jason Segel) best friend Brian (Michael Urie) to Charlie (Devin Kawaoka). Still, things couldn’t end entirely conflict-free after Paul (Harrison Ford) commented on Jimmy’s luck regarding his recent advice to patients. This “luck” ran out as patient Grace (Heidi Gardner) was seen “booping” her husband Donny (Tilky Jones) down a cliffside, per the advice of her therapist, seemingly killing the man. “It’s good,” co-creator Bill Lawrence told TV Insider at a red carpet for the show in late January. “The last [episode] has a couple of big shockers,” he teased at the time, one of them no doubt being Grace’s actions. Few years are as packed for the R&b categories at the Grammys as this one. With releases from some of the top artists in the genre and in music in general, as well as a lot of Grammy darlings back in the mix, it seems like many artists will truly just be lucky to net a nom. Let’s take a look at some of the top contenders this year.
We can’t talk about R&b without first talking about Queen Bey. This year Beyoncé could compete in Best Progressive R&b Album with her newest release, “Renaissance.” The album is acclaimed and will easily be the front-runner if it is submitted in R&b (it might instead be slotted in pop). BBC journalists are considering whether to strike over the merger of two of the network’s news channel teams, which will see up to 70 jobs axed.
Earlier this year BBC director general Tim Davie revealed that the U.K.-focused BBC News and global BBC World News channels would be replaced by one new channel called BBC News as part of a move to deliver hundreds of million dollars’ worth of cutbacks at the corporation. The decision, which Davie described as one of a number of “difficult choices” management were having to make, came after the U.K. government confirmed it would not increase the licence fee, paid for by the public, which funds the BBC.
The new channel, which will be based between London, Washington D.C. and Singapore, is set to launch next April.
However the merging of BBC News and BBC World News staff means 70 jobs in the U.

Spoiler Alert: The following story contains details from tonight’s series finale of The CW’s Black Lightning.
On Monday, Black Lightning came to the end of its four-season run on the CW, signing off with a passing of the torch.
When series finale “The Book of Resurrection: Chapter Two: Closure” opens, it looks like our hero Black Lightning (Cress Williams)—aka Jefferson Pierce—might soon be shuffling off this mortal coil. Tobias Whale (Marvin “Krondon” Jones III) has the superhero right where he wants him—namely, in a coffin buried underground.

Echoing Homer’s Penelope, his wife stays behind with their children in a Catalan village suffering hunger, deprivation, economic crisis and unemployment.

Taylor Swift and Aaron Dessner didn’t expect to make another record so soon after Folklore. As they were putting the final touches on Swift’s album this past summer, the two artists had been collaborating remotely on possible songs for Big Red Machine, Dessner’s music project with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver (who also dueted with Swift on the Folklore track “Exile”).
“I think I’d written around 30 of those instrumentals in total,” Dessner recalls. “So when I started sharing them with Taylor over the months that we were working on Folklore,...

Taylor Swift’s Evermore, her “sister” album to this past July’s Folklore, is out now. And while it sticks with the previous album’s folk and indie-inspired sound, Evermore takes a few of its own paths through the woods, exploring everything from cheating country music husbands to dance-pop bliss.
Additionally, Swift’s collaborations with the National members — including Aaron and Bryce Dessner and Matt Berninger — as well as Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, see her channeling both bands’ approaches to music, even more so than on Folklore. Lyrically, Swift...

So here we are again…again. And honestly, we should have seen this one coming. Of course, Taylor Swift, stuck in quarantine like the rest of us, decided to release a whole new collection of 17 songs as a sequel to her outstanding Folklore, unleashing it unto the world with as little warning as the last one. Evermore may be its own album, but it’s also very much an extension of Folklore – a “sister record,” as Swift calls it. And what better way to give such a songwriting-heavy project a second life?...

The Show | American Gods
The Episode | “Come to Jesus“ (June 18)
The Performance | Is there anything that livens up an American Gods scene more than the captivating, off-kilter addition of Gillian Anderson’s Media? We think not, especially given the X-Files alum’s highly entertaining performance in Sunday’s Season 1 finale.
When Media showed up as Judy Garland in her Easter Parade attire, all doe-eyed and delicate, Anderson was the picture of turn-of-the-century femininity. And we marveled, in part because she so thoroughly wrapped the New God in this old-school persona and in part because Anderson-as-Media-as-Garland...

[Originally appeared in Deadly Magazine #5] In 1993, The X-Files premiered on Fox, forever changing genre television, and after 20 years, its influence is still felt. No series since The X-Files has even come close to creating such incredibly nuanced and compelling storytelling than what Chris Carter’s series delivered each week for nine seasons.
What made The X-Files so remarkable was that it hit the ground running from its first episode and maintained that momentum. While Seasons 8 and 9 aren’t remembered fondly by fans, I’d argue that the storytelling still remained strong until the series finale in May 2002.
Known generally for its overarching alien and governmental conspiracy plots, The X-Files always managed to find clever and unusual ways to celebrate so many horror and sci-fi tropes, much like its predecessors (The Twilight Zone and Kolchak: The Night Stalker influenced Carter when he was first conceiving the series in the early ’90’s.)

On Sunday, January 24th, Fox will bring back Chris Carter’s brilliant series, The X-Files, for a six-episode revival run that will reunite beloved FBI Special Agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) for more alien-related exploits.

Last week's season three premiere episode of "Hannibal" ended with the image of what appeared to be Anthony Dimmond's bloody torso on display opposite the imagery of Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) folding Leonardo Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man into the shape of a human heart. In the second episode of season three, titled "Primavera", we get a closer look at what exactly Hannibal has done as Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) arrives in Italy, for reasons, and argue, even he isn't entirely sure of. But I don't want to get too far ahead, let's circle back to the very beginning of the episode. "Primavera" dedicates it's first seven-and-a-half minutes to the season two finale, after which we find Will in the hospital, presumably four months or so after the bloody events that took place at Hannibal's and I have to admit, as soon as I saw Abigail (Kacey Rohl) walk into...

Closure is a funny thing. Many great stories feature the quest for closure. It’s something that, as humans, we are often looking for with great intensity. Where have we come, how did it end and what did it all mean? For the Bourne franchise, based on the books by Robert Ludlum and launching Matt Damon as a righteous American answer to James Bond, closure is something that came along in 2007 with The Bourne Ultimatum. A franchise that came on with a flurry of excitement and pulse-pounding action was brought to a rest with the dizzying style of director Paul Greengrass. And it was good. It was over. Until Universal and Tony Gilroy, who served as writer on the second and third Bourne films, decided that it was time to give this story one more chapter.
