Terry Crews is a serial entertainer. The energetic actor has a muscular physique that action icons Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger were impressed with when they worked with him on The Expendables franchise. However, despite the hulking image, Crews would not limit himself to action movies as he would use his charismatic charm for such sitcoms like Everybody Hates Chris and Are We There Yet?, as well as being the host for the reality competition, America’s Got Talent. Crews is now ready to throw some fists and let the bullets fly yet again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Crews will be seen in an upcoming action-comedy that will co-star the equally charismatic muscleman, Dave Bautista. Crews and Bautista have recently wrapped filming on The Killer’s Game.
The film’s synopsis, as reported by THR, says, “Based on Jay Bonansinga’s novel, The Killer’s Game follows a veteran assassin (Bautista), who,...

Hayden Panettiere of Heroes, Scream 4, and Scream VI shares the screen with Tyler James Williams of Everybody Hates Chris, Abbott Elementary, and The Walking Dead in the thriller Amber Alert. Deadline reports that Lionsgate has acquired the worldwide rights to the film, which flew under the radar as it made its way through production and is now in post-production.
Amber Alert was directed by Kerry Bellessa, who also wrote the screenplay with Joshua Oram. Bellessa’s previous credits include the 2022 horror film Immanence and a 2012 thriller that was also called Amber Alert… so apparently this is a reimagining of Bellessa’s previous film. The new take on Amber Alert will show us what happens when an ordinary ride share becomes a high-stakes game of cat and mouse. Contrary to what you may have heard, being a TV writer isn’t solely about the interminable daily ritual of placing, receiving and consuming each afternoon’s rigorously debated lunch order. No—there are also fantasy football teams to be managed and Nerf basketballs to be bounced from one end of the workspace to the other. That, plus the tricky business of using one’s imagination to dream up the characters, storylines and dialogue that so many millions of people around the world build their lives around, e.g. a highly demanding creative act that often requires just as much strategic distraction as it does pure artistic inspiration. And all this is even before we even get to strikes, AI and a post-Peak TV landscape where the number of shows are actually contracting for the first time this century.
So yeah—it’s a hard industry to build a career in.

Terry Crews is one of the hardest working men on network television – most notably his hosting duties on America’s Got Talent and its various spinoffs on NBC. He’s established himself as a comedic force in movies such as Friday After Next, and in the beloved sitcom Everybody Hates Chris, which is poised to turn 20 years old in 2025. He’s also known for his role as Terry Jeffords on Brooklyn Nine-Nine alongside Andre Braugher, who sadly passed away on December 11. The loss of his dear friend impacted him greatly. “Man, what you’ve gotta understand is that Andre Braugher, he’s like my big brother,” Crews told TV Insider. “That was one of the most hard-hitting pieces of news that I’ve ever gotten in my entire life.” Although the series ended in 2021, Crews still held out for a reunion special. “I was always hoping we could do a movie,...

Netflix is getting into the "Pokémon" business in a pretty interesting way. The streaming service has debuted the first trailer for a brand new series entitled "Pokémon Concierge" which marks not only the first collaboration between Netflix and The Pokémon Company, but it's also the first stop-motion animated series in the history of the franchise. See what that looks like for yourself in the trailer above.
The trailer is, in a word, adorable. There is absolutely a version of the Pokémon universe that is a little gritty and horrifying. After all, many of these are very dangerous animals. This is the polar opposite of that version, with all of the many familiar creatures just trying to relax and looking rather cuddly. Surprisingly, we've never seen the series take the stop-motion approach before having now seen it, as it looks very natural. The brief logline for the series reads as follows:...

The Nexstar-ization of The CW is nearly complete.
Kevin Levy, the exec vp program planning, scheduling and acquisitions, will leave the broadcast network on Aug. 1. Levy had been with The CW since it was launched in 2006 and had been among the last remaining executives from the network’s Mark Pedowitz regime. Pedowitz, and all of his top lieutenants, have systematically been pushed out at the network since station group Nexstar took over a 75 percent controlling stake of The CW in October.
Brad Schwartz, The CW’s president of entertainment, announced Levy’s departure in a memo to staff Tuesday. (Read it in full, below.) “Now that the hard transition work is done, he is ready for his next adventure. We want to thank Kevin for his immeasurable contributions to The CW. Tyler James Williams has experienced several different kinds of fandom since childhood, starting with films like “Unaccompanied Minors,” and then his starring role in “Everybody Hates Chris,” and even a stint on “The Walking Dead.” But there’s nothing that compares to the passionate audience of teachers who have gravitated his latest series, ABC’s hit comedy “Abbott Elementary.”
On this episode, Williams talks about the show’s resonance, his experience as a child actor, where his character’s relationship with Quinta Brunson’s character might be heading and so much more. Listen below!
“It’s such a blessing that they feel so represented by it,” Williams tells Variety‘s Awards Circuit podcast. “Now I feel like, if there’s a teacher within ten blocks of me, I’m going to know about it. They’re going to say something. I didn’t realize how much this show resonated with...

Chris Rock called the police on Sunday evening when he saw someone filming him while he was inside his apartment in New York City.
The man did not attempt to break into Rock’s house, and it seems that he was only trying to film him from the fire escape.
The NYPD did not confirm the victim’s identity, but they did say that he was a 58-year-old man.
When the police arrived at Rock’s apartment, the perpetrator had already fled the scene. There have been reports of people who saw the man jump down from the fire escape and get into a Mercedes. He was wearing pink Crocs and a dark-colored jacket.

In honor of Pride Month, Tyler James Williams shared an important message about the dangers of speculating on someone's sexuality. On June 4, the "Abbott Elementary" star posted two Instagram Stories about how he worries that speculation about his sexuality could be detrimental to others.
"Usually I wouldn't address stuff like this but I feel like it as a conversation is bigger than me," he began. "I'm not gay; but I think the culture of trying to 'find' some kind of hidden trait or behavior that a closeted person 'let slip' is very dangerous. Overanalyzing someones behavior in an attempt to 'catch' them directly contributes to the anxiety a lot of queer and queer questioning people feel when they fear living in their truth."
He went on to point out that constantly questioning someone's sexuality makes every conversation feel less safe for "our gay brothers and sisters and those who may be questioning.

“So, same time next week?” Abbott Elementary star Tyler James Williams jokes with the others — Steven Yeun (Beef), Jason Segel (Shrinking), Mo Amer (Mo) and John Mulaney (John Mulaney: Baby J) — after a particularly therapeutic hour of conversation in early May. It is THR‘s annual Comedy Actor Emmy Roundtable, and the five men gathered, a mix of top stand-up and scripted talent, use the platform to swap stories and speak candidly about the pressures of the business, the splurges that they made (or urged others to make) and what, exactly, has prompted tears, hives and periods of necessary silence.
If a fan is to approach you all on the street, what is he or she likely to recognize you from?
Mo Amer I usually get, “I’m a huge fan of your music.” I’m like, “I’m not DJ Khaled.” (Laughter.)

With its list of new releases for June 2023, Prime is bringing a handful of Amazon Originals and many recent movie hits to the fold.
It’s actually quite a busy month for non-American programming in Amazon Originals department. Shows and movies like Deadloch, My Fault, and Medellín all originate from outside the U.S. and U.K. For the American and British crowd, however, the streamer is debuting two big tentpoles.
The first is I’m a Virgo on June 23. Acclaimed director Boots Riley’s TV followup to Sorry to Bother You will tale the surreal and satirical tale of a giant in Oakland. That will be followed by the more conventional (assumedly) fourth season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on June 30.

Tyler James Williams stars in the critically acclaimed sitcom Abbott Elementary but this isn’t his first time finding success. The actor got a successful start on television starring in Everybody Hates Chris and recalled a producer from the show who didn’t see a bright future for him.
“‘I’ll never see you as anything else and you’ll probably never work again,'” Williams told GQ about what the producer said.
He added, “I was like, ‘Holy shit, you really just looked at me and said that.'”
Being a kid actor on a successful sitcom was something “traumatic” for Williams as he was growing up in front of television cameras.

Tyler James Williams is opening up about navigating Hollywood as a child following his breakout role in Everybody Hates Chris.
The Abbott Elementary star rose to fame as a teen playing Chris on the hit show that ran from 2005-09. But after the series ended, the actor faced the pressure of trying to escape being stuck playing only teenager roles — something that many child stars face. He even claimed in a GQ profile published Wednesday that an Everybody Hates Chris producer told him, “I’ll never see you as anything else and you’ll probably never work again.”
Williams recalled, “I was like, ‘Holy shit, you really just looked at me and said that.'” He noted that the producer may have been joking but that he took it seriously.

Tyler James Williams Says ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ Producer Told Him He’d ‘Probably Never Work Again’
Tyler James Williams, who landed the lead role in “Everybody Hates Chris” at age 12 in 2005, revealed in a new interview that a producer on the series told him he’d “probably never work again” after the series, which was based on Chris Rock’s teen years.
Williams, who won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Emmy for playing Gregory Eddie on ABC hit “Abbott Elementary,” told GQ that an unnamed producer once said to him, “I’ll never see you as anything else and you’ll probably never work again.”
The now 30-year-old actor recalled, “I was like, ‘Holy s—t you really just looked at me and said that.'” Although he thinks the producer probably meant it as a joke, the comment still stung.

Tyler James Williams struggles with relationships as Gregory Eddie on "Abbott Elementary" - and it sounds like the actor also has a bit of trouble with romance in the real world. "[The fame] makes it hard to be seen," he told GQ in a March 22 interview, saying that his notoriety has made it hard to move past surface-level connections. "I've also never gotten a chance to introduce myself to anybody," he continued. "There's something that's really cool about when I look at people and I'm like, 'Damn, y'all met and she ain't know nothing about you. You just were able to give her who you are right now.'"

Following the release of her latest album, "Holy Fvck," Demi Lovato is entering a new career lane: directing for her first-ever film. Per a press release shared with Popsugar, the singer is set to make their directorial debut with a forthcoming documentary for Hulu, supposedly titled "Child Star," which will reportedly "deconstruct the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world's most famous former child stars, including Lovato."
"There is no better film or topic for my directorial debut than this story, which is close to home," Lovato said in a statement. "Our project sheds light on important messages about growing up in the public eye, learning to protect our boundaries, and becoming active advocates of our own destinies. I'm humbled to be able to learn from the individuals who have lived the unique experience of child stardom and share their stories in our film.

Tyler James Williams has been in the industry ever since making his first television appearance on "Sesame Street" at age 4. But despite his many TV and movie roles over the years - his latest being his award-winning turn as teacher Gregory Eddie on "Abbott Elementary" - the 30-year-old star is still adjusting to fame (and his newfound heartthrob status). Brooklyn Nine-Nine alum Terry Crews has been tapped as the lead and also will executive produce JumpStart, CBS’ multi-camera comedy pilot based on Robb Armstrong’s long-running comic strip. Wayne Conley (The Best Man) penned the TV adaptation for the project from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, Wendi Trilling’s TrillTV and CBS Studios. Phill Lewis will direct and executive produce the pilot, replacing Kelly Park due to changes in the production schedule; Park is directing NBC’s comedy pilot Non-Evil Twin instead.
Based on the popular comic strip that debuted in 1989, JumpStart is set in Philadelphia and follows Joseph L. Cobb (Crews), a cop, his wife Marcy, a nurse, and Joe’s partner Crunchy.
Crews’ Joe Cobb is a devoted husband, son, father and Philadelphia police officer. He is also a proud Black man and often feels pressured to be flawless in each of his roles, especially in light of controversies surrounding cops.

Terry Crews will star in the CBS comedy pilot based on the “JumpStart” comic strip, Variety has learned.
The multi-cam pilot was originally ordered at CBS in February. The official logline states that the show “follows Joe (Crews), a cop, his wife Marcy, a nurse, and Joe’s partner Crunchy. Joe and Marcy are young, hip, urban parents with old school values who are willing to sacrifice for their kids and have some laughs while doing it!”
The character Joe is further described as “a devoted husband , son, father and Philadelphia police officer. Tyler James Williams is making waves in the hit sitcom Abbott Elementary — but he’s been in the entertainment industry a long time. Williams started acting when he was just a toddler, and by the time he was a teenager, he was a show business veteran, eventually landing the leading role in the TV series Everybody Hates Chris. For four years, while the show was on the air, Williams was able to flex his comedic chops, proving what he could do — and making a fantastic salary while he was at it.
