The current generation will likely know John Cleese for his Tweets and his Gb News project "The Dinosaur Hour," which recently saw him trading witticisms with Stephen Fry in a 12th-century castle for some reason. Which is a shame because at one time he was pretty much unanimously viewed as a British national treasure and comedy great. So much so that when he dropped in on the "Cheers" crowd back in the '80s, he basically caused the whole show to buckle under the weight of his reputation, at least until the writers managed to compose themselves enough to get his episode back on track.
Appearing in the season 5 installment "Simon Says," Cleese played Dr. Simon Finch-Royce, a renowned marriage counselor and friend of Kelsey Grammer's Frasier Crane, who at one time attended Oxford with the distinguished doctor. Presumably, in the "Cheers"-verse, Finch-Royce was also a friend of Alan Cornwall,...

Bob Barker, the game show host who taught us all that “The Price Is Right,” has passed away at the age of 99 after rumors of being in ill health for several years.
Barker was the host of CBS’ “The Price is Right” for 50 years, from 1972 to 2007, giving a string of audiences brand new cars and reminding us to have our pets spayed and neutered. Before being the host of the longest-running daytime game show in U.S. history, he was also the popular host of “Truth or Consequences” for nearly 20 years. He became a pop culture icon outside of the show when he made a memorable cameo in the Adam Sandler comedy “Happy Gilmore” in 1996.
Robert William Barker was born in Darrington, Washington on December 12, 1923. He was raised on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in Mission, South Dakota as a child, where he was registered as a member of the Sioux tribe.

Electronic musician and producer Rp Boo was already in his 40s when his debut album, Legacy, dropped in 2013, preceded by more than a decade of singles which helped establish Chicago’s footwork genre. Legacy Volume 2 continues the curation of his output from that period, gathering previously unreleased tracks recorded between 2002 and 2007.
Rather than using digital software, Boo constructs his music entirely with old-fashioned equipment: a Roland drum machine and Akai Mpc sampler. Some of the samples are immediately recognizable: “UnderD-Stat” bites the theme from the ’60s animated TV series Underdog, while “Heavy Heat” uses the same horns, originally taken from Ifukube Akira’s theme from Godzilla vs. Mothra, as Pharoahe Monch’s 1999 classic “Simon Says.”
Central to Boo’s process is his merging of samples in dense and abrasive ways, with individual sounds having an exponential effect. Instead of sticking to a steady rhythm during each track, Boo loops vocal...

Intro: After the success of Lethal Weapon 3, it was a given there would be a fourth film in the franchise. But the next sequel proved to be surprisingly difficult to get into production. Until Warner Bros. realized they were heading into 1998 without a surefire summer hit on their hands. They gave Lethal Weapon 4 the greenlight and the movie was thrown together in a mad scramble. Twenty-five years later, it’s time to look back at the results of that rush job in this episode of Revisited.
Set-up: With a global box office haul of three hundred and twenty million dollars, Lethal Weapon 3 wasn’t just the biggest hit of the franchise. The 1992 release was considered to be the most profitable film in Warner Bros. history. So studio executives and producer Joel Silver immediately started looking forward to Lethal Weapon 4. “America’s Got Talent” is getting closer to the live shows, with the second of four episodes dedicated to judge cuts airing on Tuesday, July 23. This week’s guest judge is NBA all-star Dwyane Wade, who is married to rookie “Agt” judge Gabrielle Union. As with his wife and the other three regular panellists, Dwyane also gets a Golden Buzzer.
Eighteen acts who made it through the audition phase are hoping to be singled out for this special honor, which will send them straight through to the quarter-finals next month. Six of the other acts will also get the green-light from the judges to proceed to the next stage of the competition.
They will join the lucky seven acts who were put through last week when Brad Paisley was the guest judge. Among these was Brad’s pick for the Golden Buzzer, Sophie Pecora, a young singer-songwriter. This rapper/spoken...

ABC has picked up multiple episodes of a new family-oriented game show called “Don’t,” executive produced by “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds.
In the show, created by Banijay Studios North America, families of four will compete against each other in “Simon Says”-like mental and physical challenges in which they are instructed to “don’t” something — like slipping, laughing, speaking, screaming or forgetting.
Family members who “do” the forbidden action are eliminated — until one contestant emerges victorious and that family wins a cash prize.

Sheep get a bad rap for being unquestioning followers, but today it’s cows who are acting like the real sheep.
A herd of cattle in Saskatchewan, Canada, must be open to any kind of leader, because rancher Adrienne Ivey caught them taking cues from a lost beaver.
On Friday, the wood-chucker wandered onto the herd’s land and started poking around. Apparently desperate for some direction, the 150 cows gathered around the beaver and started a one-sided game of Simon Says. Whatever the beaver did, the cattle followed — at a respectful 3-foot distance, according to The Telegraph.

Last Week’S Review: ‘Bury Me Here’ Pushes Morgan to the Breaking Point
[Spoilers follow for “The Walking Dead” Season 7, Episode 14, “The Other Side.”]
Whose Episode Is It?
We’re back at the Hilltop, which means it’s time to see if Sasha and Rosita can pull off their attempt to assassinate Negan. Meanwhile, the Saviors drop by unexpectedly, giving Maggie and Daryl a chance for a heart-to-heart, and giving Gregory a chance to grovel to Simon, The Only Savior That Matters. The episode seems mostly to be an excuse to give Rosita some semblance of character development,
something she’s been sorely lacking over her four seasons on the show. It’s also mostly set-up for a cliffhanger to lead us into the final two episodes. It’s serviceable on both counts.

For some filmmakers, Sundance is a life-changing experience — for Simon Fitzmaurice, the tragedy is that it was. A strapping, kind-hearted Irish lad who grew into an athletic build that seemed to belie his artistic spirit, he was 34 when Sundance selected his short, “The Sound of People,” for the fest’s 2007 edition. Reluctantly leaving his pregnant wife at home, Simon followed his dreams to the mountains of Utah. It was there, as Simon walked down Park City’s picturesque main drag, visions of a career behind the camera projecting against the walls of his imagination, that he first noticed the pain that would signal his diagnosis with Als.
In time, Simon would find a way to rationalize why his symptoms kicked in at the height of his happiness. In his memoir, which he wrote with the help of a system that tracked his pupils’ movement along a digital keyboard, Simon observed...

Enlightened Games has entered the world of indie gaming with The Song of Seven: Chapter 1 – Overture, the Kickstarter-funded first instalment in what’s intended to be a five-part fantasy story. Their stated goal with the game was to retain the aspects many associate with classic point-and-click adventures, and having now spent a considerable amount of time with it, I can say that parts of it definitely do incorporate some of the genre’s most iconic elements. It’s not a complete home run, as there are various issues when it comes to presentation and pacing, but there’s still enough reason for longtime fans of these types of games to give it a chance.

And with her stuff seemingly together, Alex spends most of this week’s hour efficiently reeling one friend back in at the same time she pushes another one away.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has debuted the first trailer for Jaume Collet-Serra's (Orphan) The Shallows. Influenced by Spielberg's Jaws (1975), the first clip shows actress Blake Lively as Mia, trapped in the shoals. The limp tagline: "what was once in the deep is now in the shallows" focuses the film on the shark and that huge fish makes it appearance in the film's first trailer. Looking back, astute horror fans will remember that Lively had her start in horror films, with Simon Says (2006). This latest thriller puts Lively more front and center. And, fans of film can see more of Lively and the shark in this exciting clip. Much of the film's story can be seen in the trailer. However, Nancy or Mia (depending on your source) is trapped on a rocky outcrop, after being injured while surfing. Her blood attracts a hungry beast. With the shore just 200 yards away,...

A marvelous little movie: compact, efficient, almost unbearably intense, smartly (perhaps accidentally) feminist. A glorious treat of pulp genre fun. I’m “biast” (pro): loved Cloverfield, love Mary Elizabeth Winstead
I’m “biast” (con): wary of the forced franchise concept
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
Fans of movies generally don’t want to hear the sort of thing we started hearing about 10 Cloverfield Lane when its existence first became known a few months ago: that producer J.J. Abrams took a spec script called The Cellar that had been floating around for a while and rejigged it into a movie that would maybe kinda work as a sequel to 2008’s Cloverfield (on which he also served as producer). This sounds like the worst sort of Hollywood folly: bad enough when movies are created as franchise cutouts, but now they’re shoving preexisting stories into franchise...

After powering through The Guest and The Room Three in succession, the parallels between these first-person puzzle adventures became effortless to draw. They share similar foibles, like protagonists whose identities and occupations are secondary to the mystery at large, and that each title seems something of a misnomer. The Room (the first one) plants players in a space barren of detail, apart from an elaborate and ornate box, while The Guest thinks nothing of the player as a visitor in its world. The hotel suite that somebody traps you in ‒ a setting burdened with riddles ‒ establishes itself as the star instead.
The Guest replicates the inherent technology of 1986, and so I pictured my lodgings as a time capsule, combing corners of the room for finer details beyond puzzle solutions. A record player replaces surround sound stereos, a projector fills in for modern cameras, and a typewriter gets more love than any computer.

Though the beloved cult filmmaker Frank Henenlotter is best known for his work on films like "Basket Case" and "Frankenhooker," he's turned his gaze from shock horror/comedy to art-infused thriller with his newest effort "Chasing Bansky." Read More: Simon Says: Is Frank Henenlotter a horror genius or a sick man? Following a struggling Brooklyn-based artist, "Chasing Bansky" centers on the search to capture a rare piece from renowned street artist Bansky, even if that means destroying homes and lives in the process. Based on a true story, the film was written by Henenlotter and Anthony Sneed. Standing as Henenlotter's first film since 2008's "Bad Biology" and his first non-genre effort, "Chasing Bansky" will have its world premiere this month at the 15th Whistler Film Festival. It is time for a dip into the surreal. Hooroo Jackson's fantasy and horror film Aimy in a Cage is moving towards a 2016 release date. The film involves several characters living behind strong walls as a virus rages outside. A strange surgery is performed on the inhabitants, to prevent them from acting out. As well, Aimy in a Cage stars Crispin Glover (Simon Says), Allisyn Ashley Arm, Terry Moore and Paz de la Huerta. A preview of the film's launch, through Osiris Entertainment, is hosted here. Film fans will notice a surreal element in the film's latest trailer. The clip shows characters in period costumes, acting in a bizarre fashion. Settings and costumes change in lighting and time periods. Meanwhile, the music has a carnival-like tone. The film's story takes place in an offbeat world. Here, the protagonist's mind is altered and so is the viewer's. Aimy in a Cage was funded through Bitcoin.

The X Factor might have kicked off Judges' Houses last night in a two-and-a-half hour extravaganza - but there's still some work to be done. While Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini can sit back and relax, there are still two categories yet to be decided.
That's right: Nick Grimshaw still needs to choose his Top 6 Boys, and we'll also see the Girls performing for Rita Ora and Meghan Trainor in an attempt to make it through to the live shows. It's going to get intense, people.
Of course, anything could happen - who knows if Simon will suddenly introduce a wildcard twist (*cough* Jennifer *cough*)? So join us from 7.30pm when the show kicks off and we'll bring you all the action...

The X Factor star Anton Stephans has joked that he'll work on not looking "crazy" after Simon Cowell warned him about his facial expressions.
Anton - who will head to Simon's Judges Houses after winning a seat in the "incredibly terrifying" Six Chair Challenge - joked about Simon being used to people with Botox when he was told he makes bizarre faces when he sings.
"I didn't get sassy with Simon!" he joked to Digital Spy and others. "But I think that's true – I think sometimes if you are in an environment where things are one way, that can become your norm and if you're not and if you're faced with that suddenly, it can be different and strange to you.

After three weeks of chair-swapping drama, the Six Chair Challenge finally concludes this evening. All that's left is for Cheryl to finish choosing her groups and then for Simon to tackle the Overs category.
Throughout the competition Simon has been less than enthusiastic about mentoring the Overs, and according to what we've heard, he's still pretty grumpy this evening. So we're sure that all the chair-swapping's going to be as brutal as ever.

20th Century Fox is in discussions with "Live Free or Die Hard" director Len Wiseman for him to direct and produce a sixth installment in the "Die Hard" series. Unexpectedly though, the new film would reportedly serve as a "quasi-prequel" for Bruce Willis' beloved cop character John McClane.
The new film would include a storyline set in New York City in 1979 with a younger McClane, but would also include present day elements with Willis returning for those scenes. Willis doesn't have a deal to return as yet, though would likely reprise his beloved role.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who has worked with Willis before, would produce the film as Wiseman pitched a new take that incoporates "Die Hard" mythology with a reworked different project that was under di Bonaventura's control - similar to the way "Die Hard With a Vengeance" was a reworked version of a different script known as "Simon Says.

Whoever is interested in taking down Quantico‘s Alex Parrish and her glorious mane has been at it for a long, long time.
That’s the key takeaway from this week’s episode, which reveals that Alex’s framers’ plan to ruin her life began even before she enrolled in the FBI Academy. I’d say that’s a chilling revelation that makes her situation seem even worse, but let’s face it: Proving her innocence is such a sissyphean task as-is, knowing that the frame-job has been in the works for even longer than originally thought seems like a...

Last month, Indiewire had the opportunity to sit down with David Simon, one of TV's great elder statesmen. As the creator of "The Wire," among other legendary series, Simon has been bringing his journalism background to depicting how drugs, race and politics affect American life. His most recent project, the HBO miniseries "Show Me A Hero," dug deeply into all of those topics through the microcosm of 1980s Yonkers, New York, which found itself in turmoil over the building of low-income housing. While "Hero" might technically be about low-income housing, it's really, as Simon says, about how "we don't learn." Read More: Review: 'Show Me a Hero' Parts 5 and 6 Reframe the Argument With a Sobering Finale While a great deal of the below conversation appears in a feature covering the making of the project, I also wanted to present Simon's thoughts, in full, on the enduring nature of "Hero,...
