If we had to look for a theme for this month's TV offerings, we might go with: Chaos Reigns. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend promises to devote its third season to a revenge plot; the one-man disruptive force known as Larry David resuscitates his antisocial HBO masterpiece Curb Your Enthusiasm; Fox's new superhero show The Gifted features mutants on the run from government-sanctioned extermination; Riverdale is back with more warped Archie sex and violence; and The Walking Dead returns with both hungry "walkers" and all-out war. All this, and brand new Dynasty remake.

Tom Brady was particularly happy to have one fan in the crowd on Super Bowl Sunday: his mom, Galynn.
On Sunday, Brady was at the helm as the New England Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime after trailing 28-3 until the third quarter. Among those there to support him were his wife Gisele Bündchen and his parents. Galynn has been having radiation and chemotherapy to treat a type cancer for the last 18 months and had not attended a game all season.

The Church of England has come out swinging against major UK cinema chains and Digital Cinema Media, which handles most of the country's movie advertising. At issue: The church says it had planned to buy screen time for a 60-second commercial to run ahead of Star Wars: The Force Awakens beginning December 18 in UK movie houses. The ad, a trailer for its new Just Pray website that features the Lord’s Prayer, was given clearance by the Cinema Advertising Authority and the…...

People at prayer in the controversial advert
Digital Cinema Media (Dcm), the organisation which represents large cinema chains including Vue and Cineworld, has refused to show an advert which promotes the Church of England and its new website, Just Pray. The advert, which was due to be shown befoe Star Wars: The Force Awakens, features assorted individuals and groups of people reciting parts of the Lord's Prayer.
The Church has objected to the rejection of the advert, saying "In one way the decision of the cinemas is just plain silly but the fact that they have insisted upon it makes it rather chilling in terms of limiting free speech."
Dcm says that the decision is a matter of policy and that t will not show adverts which relate to people's personal beliefs, "specifically those related to politics or religion." It denied accusations that it is attacking Chrstianity, saying "in this regard,...

The Reflecting Skin
Directed by Philip Ridley
Written by Philip Ridley
1990, USA
The Reflecting Skin is not your average vampire movie. I’m not even sure if it is a vampire movie, nor am I sure the movie knows what it wants to be. Although, most people easily label it a psychological horror film, The Reflecting Skin is not a film that is easily pigeonholed. It appears to be a film about the trauma of growing up and more importantly, growing up with a dysfunctional family that is haunted by their past. And it’s all told in a series of twisted events.
This independent feature was the directorial debut of Philip Ridley, a British painter-illustrator-novelist who had supplied the script to Peter Medek’s mesmerizing 1990 gangster film The Krays. The Reflecting Skin was celebrated as one of the unique films of its year and received a good deal of favorable reviews.

Once, in the 90s, it was told unto us that God was one of us, just a slob like one of us, trying to make his way home. The all knowing, all seeing, all feeling creator of everything and anything in the universe could take on many forms, and he typically has throughout the many channels of pop culture. But it’s hard to find a good version of God in movies – for good reason. It’s a part that many might not want to take; God is, after all, the ultimate role. It doesn’t get much bigger than that. How do you embody a deity, the most important figure in a vast amount of people’s lives, and a part they’ve already casted in their minds while daydreaming in church pews from an early age? You get around it, and you get creative. Sometimes, you don’t even have to be on screen. Just pray...

Today is a big day for the ever-beautiful Hema Malini. She turns a year older. 65, if we must know.
"Incredible how time flies, no? It seems like just yesterday when my daughters Esha and Ahana were born. Now they are all grown up and with life companions... But I must say I am very lucky with my sons-in-law," Hema exults with an inner happiness.
Interestingly, the younger daughter Ahana is yet to be married to her fiance.
"So what?" counters the birthday girl. "My younger daughter's life companion is as good as my son-in-law. I must say I've been very lucky in finding the right partners for my daughters."
Hemaji brings in her birthday with just the family. "That's the way I like it. This year it's Esha, Ahana and my two sons-in-law. Dharamji is shooting in Chandigarh. But he said he'd try to be here in Mumbai in time for my birthday.

For centuries, people have debated whether a human head will continue to think, sense, or even try to talk after it's been severed from the body... and if so, for how long? Witnesses to decapitations have claimed that the victims' eyes blink and look around, their faces show terror or pain, and their mouths form words. Those macabre accounts are so well-known that fully aware noggins are practically a horror cliché by now, and movies like Re-Animator take the idea to the ultimate extreme (and we love it for that, of course). One of the most chilling monologues in horror cinema comes from Brad Dourif as the Gemini Killer in The Exorcist III, wherein he claims a severed head can see for up to twenty seconds, and describes what it's like to position his victim's head so they can see his handiwork. Brad Dourif in The Exorcist III Part 1 But...

We've had a day to digest the news that EA now has the exclusive rights to make games based on the "Star Wars" universe, and that they've, in turn, tapped Visceral and Dice to make new titles with all-new story and gameplay (with BioWare doing... something).
And predictably, we all groaned and fretted about what this would mean for the gaming future of our beloved franchise--"how badly will EA mess this up," we asked. Honestly, though, I'm looking forward to whatever comes out of EA, good or bad. For all their less-than-savory business practices, they've made a habit of assembling great studios and allowing interesting ideas to germinate in them (even if that means we bafflingly have three "Army of Two" games.
So after the jump, check out five reasons to look forward to EA's taking over "Star Wars" along with five reasons to keep that excitement in check.

Today, as Abhishek Bachchan grows a year older and pretends to be much older than he really is, I think back to the day almost two years in April 2011 when he came to my home in Patna. At around 6 pm when Abhishek taken off his shoes and had plonked himself comfortably on the floor in our house and we were all bitching about the whole industry, a neatly dressed man walked straight in and requested for a picture.I presumed he was part of Abhishek’s extended entourage of security guards, publicity co-ordinators and photographers. It turned out to be a man from the street who had slipped past the tight security, walked confidently up the four flights of stairs to our top floor, got his picture and walked out.
By this time the crowd that was around 500-people strong when Abhishek had arrive at 5.30 pm had swollen to approximately...

(The ultimate genre hero for NRA-nerds returns...) Meet Duke Togo aka. Golgo 13. A man so macho, it fucking took both Ken Katakura and Sonny Chiba to portray him in the live-action movies. He is James Bond without a conscience, without a boss, and without witty repartee. The only man in fiction able to stare down Chuck Norris, allegedly. A private assassin whose sole hobbies concern guns and hookers, and who really doesn't give a shit what you think about that. He's no hero, not even an anti-hero. Golgo 13 just is, and the world doesn't seem to be the better for it. Give him a target and three million dollars, and you need to look for another target. Just pray someone else doesn't hire...

It's all about appearances, right? This week's Gossip Girl was all about the upper crust of the Ues behaving badly - despicably if you will - in the name of getting what they want, for the sake of their respective reputations.
Meanwhile, the Humphrey men struggled to make sense of it all.
In a sense, "Despicable B" was like old times on Gossip Girl, with various stories of social scheming, though certain characters have arguably lost their way to the point where their actions cease to be believable.
Blair clearly has lost her way, somewhere between being traded for a hotel and selling out for a tiara. At least she admits as much, and has perhaps realizes at last that...

Jennifer Hudson will perform a tribute to Whitney Houston at the 2012 Grammy Awards, Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow confirmed onstage Saturday night at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party. The awards show's executive producer, Ken Ehrlich, announced on CNN that Chaka Khan will also join in honoring the late pop icon on Sunday night (February 12).
"It's too fresh in everyone's memory to do more at this time, but we would be remiss if we didn't recognize Whitney's remarkable contribution to music fans in general, and in particular her close ties with the Grammy telecast and her Grammy wins and nominations over the years," Ehrlich said.

What would high school kids do with super powers? The answer "Chronicle" gives is that they'd just screw around, and that, for the most part, is very true.
Not everyone who gets the ability to fly or super strength is going to go around saving the world. Quite frankly, most people wouldn't do anything spectacular at all if they could sling web all of the sudden. Most people would slightly alter the life they're currently living. Superheroing is just too much work.
Here is what normal folks would do with the abilities of five famous heroes!

For a fleeting moment tonight, it looked like after six months of raspy-voiced lies, ulterior motives, convoluted story lines and plot twists, Ivy's deception would finally reach critical mass on Gossip Girl.
Not the case.
Instead of being exposed for the Wt wannabe impostor she is, Charlie/Ivy (known to some TV Fanatic staffers as Chivy) somehow slithered out of her biggest jam yet, and came out smelling like roses. Ugh.
It's never a good sign when you find yourself cracking a smile at a scene meant to be deathly serious, but that's where I found myself as she defended herself against Max's "lies" with Carol's help.
I could spend hours ranting about the screen time Chivy takes up with relatively little advancement of the storyline, and surely some of you will in the comments. So I'll try to focus on the positives:

Fashion Tribute
Elizabeth Taylor died on Wednesday. And thus, despite it being rather sunny and nice outside the walls of Guardian HQ, our world became a greyer place. Such an event requires a fitting tribute, so we decided to compile a list of our favourite things about Liz:
1. She didn't give a hoot about society's expectations and was famously married eight times to seven men. The first was when she was just 18, to Conrad Hilton (Paris Hilton's great uncle), but the relationship lasted only a year. Her most significant relationship, however, was with Richard Burton - the love of her life whom she married (and divorced) twice. She liked her men rich, passionate and wild. "Marriage is an institution", she said, and for her,...

Bulletstorm is a game with some fairly low ambitions, simply to return to the easy-going, unpretentious fun of the shooters of old, such as Serious Sam and basically every Duke Nukem game ever made. In this world, where ammo quantities aren’t so much a concern as how many baddies you can kick in the face, Epic Games and People Can Fly have certainly achieved their dream.
Taking place in the 26th century, Bulletstorm has you play Grayson Hunt, a space pirate who works for a secret Black Ops force called Dead Echo, who are tasked with protecting the Confederation of Planets from all manner of chaos that inevitably ensues. However, having been double-crossed by the treacherous General Serrano – who informs him, in fact, that Dead Echo aren’t really that nice after all – Grayson plots revenge alongside his cyborg teammate Ishi, while trying to escape the planet they have crash-landed on,...

Paul Giamatti and Dustin Hoffman in "Barney's Version"
Canadian author Mordecai Richler’s telling of Barney Panofsky’s crazy life was released fourteen years ago. And much like the events of Barney, a man with three wives and an accusation of murder to his name, the journey for his film adaptation has been eventful to say the least. Conceived by producer Robert Lantos and eventually captained by Richard J. Lewis, Barney’s Version started off as Lantos’ dream, and became an award-winning drama/comedy starring three names known by Oscar, Paul Giamatti, Dustin Hoffman, and Minnie Driver. Last Sunday, Paul Giamatti won a Golden Globe for his performance in the film.
To help make sense of it all, I sat down with director Richard J. Lewis to discuss all of the elements that went into telling Barney’s Version after so many years.
Barney’s Version opens in Chicago on January 21st.

Harry Potter outgained Rapunzel at the box office, but only by a hair, according to studio estimates. Even so, there were plenty of holiday leftovers for everyone, as the nation's top 15 movies all managed to gross at least $1 million over the Thanksgiving weekend of November 26 through 28, 2010.
10. Morning Glory $4.03 million
Thanksgiving may be the last gasp for Glory, which failed to find a wide audience at theaters. If the film was looking to woo working women, it failed miserably, with just over $25 million in total receipts. The comedy didn't flop as badly as Ford's last film, Extraordinary Measures, but the actor hasn't had a non-Indiana Jones film make $100 million in over a decade (2000's What Lies Beneath).
9. The Next Three Days $4.8 million

Let's face it: school is a bummer, particularly in light of the summer's end and the school season's beginning. From awkward encounters with the opposite sex to loads and loads of homework, there's no disputing the fact that school can be a pain. But if you've checked out "Waiting for Superman," director Davis Guggenheim's compelling documentary about the failings of the American public education system, you'll realize that the average school experience could be a whole lot worse.
Of course, it could be a whole lot better, as other movies — fictional movies, mind you — have proven in the past. After the jump, check out five of the fictional schools we would gladly attend if given the chance!

The UK trailer for Joe Dante's upcoming 3D monster-fest The Hole has appeared online as if there wasn't enough stuff happening, but either way, we've got it for you right here.
The film, directed by Dante in 3D and starring Teri Polo, Haley Bennett, Bruce Dern, Chris Massoglia, and Nathan Gamble, tells the tale of a pair of brothers who stumble upon a mysterious hole in their basement that leads to the darkest corridors of their fears and nightmares.
Check out the trailer below courtesy of Empire. No word yet on Us distro just yet. We'll keep our ears open.
Just pray we get to see it actually in 3D as it was shot as such. You know god forbid we get this instead of a crappy conversion.

I’d like to open Tuesday night's (March 2) "American Idol" recap with a short excerpt of a screenplay I'm working on, which is loosely based on what I think might have happened backstage Tuesday. It's called "Bower Power."
Int. CBS Studios, backstage.
The Top 10 men are hanging out. A producer enters with purpose.
Producer: Crystal Bowersox is really sick. Doctors say she can't perform on "Idol" tonight. So you boys are going to sing in her place since we're willing to sacrifice all of you in order to save one of the season's breakout stars. Get into wardrobe, you pitiful excuses for "Idol" contestants. You're live in three hours.
Alex Lambert: [vomits, weeps, craps pants simultaneously.]
Tim Urban: It's okay, Alex. Just pray. That's what I do.
Jermaine Sellers: [puts down his vocal humidifier] Yeah! Jesus is my homeboy!
Cut to Heaven.
Jesus: [shakes head, sighs] I miss season eight.
Jesus presses play on his iPod, listens to Danny Gokey...

Tila Tequila has courted criticism for turning her grief over fiancee Casey Johnson's death into an Internet exhibition, and now she explains why she is incapable of mourning offline. "Why do I tweet so much? Even Before Casey passed away? Because I Have No Friends! There! The Truth Comes Out! Just pray 4 her please!" she tweeted on Sunday. "Ppl say I need 2 get off twitter & grieve with friends & family...Where? I Dont Have Any! Casey was my only family & my Dogs! Worst day ever," she continued. A few minutes later she directed readers to a sprawling blog post that tells the sad story of a teenage Tila rolling with Mexican gangs, locked up in juvie and bearing witness to her best friend's drive-by murder.
