It’s an interesting month ahead on Hulu, as the streamer rolls out some of the series it’s been keeping in its back pocket for the holiday season.
On December 15, the first season of Such Brave Girls will arrive. The sitcom follows a dysfunctional family – and we mean dysfunctional! – that includes real-life sisters Kat Sadler and Lizzie Davidson. British comedian Sadler has previously written for The News Quiz, Hypothetical, and Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable, but this is her first big TV project. “Everything we joke about in the show is from a place of lived experience,” she told Funny Women. “I wish I could say this is a heart-warming show about overcoming trauma, but that would be a lie. It’s about three toxic, damaged egomaniacs manipulating the world and each other for their own personal gain, vengeance and glory…just like in Little Women.” Sounds good!

Death is the ultimate leveler. It comes for everyone in the end, no matter your station in life. Never is that more unsettlingly apparent than in 1988’s The Blob, directed by Chuck Russell from a script he co-wrote with Frank Darabont. The creature feature lets loose a gelatinous pink blob of goo upon the small town of Arborville, California, where it wreaks havoc with its insatiable appetite. It doesn’t care about archetypical hero or villain roles; its sole aim is to devour.
The eponymous Blob acts as a giant slithering stomach, dissolving its food for digestion with extreme acidity. That means that not only is the body count high for this ever-growing creature, but the deaths are deliciously mean-spirited and unforgettable thanks to gruesome special makeup effects from Tony Gardner and an incredible team of artists. Tiffany Haddish was among guests at Michael Rubin’s star-studded Fourth of July white party earlier this month.
The comedian chatted to Et Canada’s Jed Tavernier about the lavish bash, admitting she was on that dance floor until the early hours.
As Tavernier pointed out she’d been dancing on stage with Meek Mill, Haddish responded: “I was doing my dress like [reenacts dance]. I did have a 5-hour energy drink at about midnight, and I know I didn’t make it back to my hotel until like 4:30 in the morning.
“We was dancing, like, all night. My feet, the bottom of my foot has a bruise on it because I was dancing in my shoes so long. So, yeah, it was hard to walk the next day,” she added.

The Joe Bob Briggs episode of the Wtf Happened to This Horror Celebrity? video series (formerly known as Where in the Horror Are They Now) was Written and Narrated by Jessica Dwyer and Edited by Victoria Verduzco. It was Produced by John Fallon and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
There’s a gold standard that horror hosts are held to. The icons become as popular as the movies that they show. Zacherley, Elvira, and Vampira are some of the names that come to mind, all of them inherently macabre in their own way. Most horror hosts have something ooky and spooky about them. And then there’s the one and only Joe Bob Briggs. Joe Bob is his own sort of creature, a Drive In Cowboy who loves blood, breasts, and beasts… and going on long, amazing rants about all the things he has a problem with in the world.

There may come a time when it just doesn’t make sense to rank the broadcast and cable networks anymore. Actually, that time is probably already here, with most viewing now taking place via streaming and other means. And yet, Nielsen’s numbers — which include time shifting and other ways people watch, not just live — are still the best barometer of who’s watching what in the linear world.
And indeed, it’s clear that live sports are still driving linear TV — ESPN is among the few top networks to receive a double-digit boost in 2022. But crime also pays: Oxygen, which NBCUniversal reworked into a true crime network several years ago received a healthy 10 bump this year. And the biggest gainer in 2022 was Reelzchannel, at a whopping 107, thanks to the addition of the show formerly known as “Live P.D.”

Discussing her much-praised performance as The Afterparty’s disarming and shrewd police detective Danner, the standup comic in Tiffany Haddish could not resist dropping some sly one-liners about her own recent real-life run-in with law enforcement.
Haddish joined the “Roshomon”-like Apple TV+ mystery-comedy’s executive producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord and co-star Sam Richardson at Deadline’s Contenders Television panel for the series, where while discussing plans for her fan-favorite character’s return for a second season she dropped a few jokes obliquely referencing her January arrest in Georgia on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Noting that she’d yet to hear any specifics from Lord and Miller about her return, “I don’t know what’s going to happen but what I do know is I’m really, really, really excited about it,” Haddish said. “I’ve been doing even more studying.

Exclusive: Netflix is making a screen rights deal for We Used to Live Here, a psychological thriller novella by Marcus Kliewer that got the town in a tizzy when it was shopped last week. Blake Lively is attached to star and produce with Kate Vorhoff through Lively’s B for Effort banner, along with Ground Control Entertainment’s Scott Glassgold, and 6th & Idaho’s Matt Reeves and Adam Kassan. It came to Netflix through 6th & Idaho’s first-look Netflix deal. Dan Kagan is also producing. Novella deal was a solid six figures and they are tying up the other deals.
Published as part of Reddit’s nosleep feature, the novella has a potent premise, about returning to your old childhood home only to realize it is not quite what you remember. A homeowner gets a knock at her door while her partner is at work. It’s a husband, wife and kids.
