Teenager Hobie is getting tired, as Cody remarks, of being shielded by Mitch like a baby, but accepts responsibly to do his duty as junior life guards coach, and even bonds while swimming the extra mile to teach eager beaver Manny Gutierrez, indefatigable son of a villa guest house-lodged Latino maid, who never swam in the sea before but vowed to make his life meaningful by rescuing people and wonders why Hobie won't follow in Mitch's footsteps. Manny quickly agrees to come along when Hobie and his mates go to Venice, too visit a tattoo parlor and possibly get piercings, which Mitch firmly forbade. Cody most console lover C.J., who feels somewhat guilty after the sudden death of beach bum Max Murat, whose homeless cart allegedly contains his creations as couturier to Hollywood starts in its glory days. Neely greedily informs if her project can get funding from the inheritance Max left C.J., the only person who won his heart by spending time with him, but there's two problems.
