A slow Summer at the domestic box office came to a quiet end this weekend.Guardians of the Galaxy held on to first place, while the two newcomers (As Above/So Below, The November Man fell short of $10 million.Over the three-day weekend, the Top 12 earned $88.2 million, which makes this the second-worst weekend of the year so far. Guardians of the Galaxy added $17.1 million, which ranks eighth all-time among fifth weekends. It was off just one percent from last weekend, which is a great Labor Day hold; that's even better than last year's Lee Daniels' The Butler and We're the Millers (down 10 percent and 3 percent, respectively). Over the long weekend, Guardians earned $22.9 million, which ranks third all-time among Labor Day weekends.Including Labor Day, the 10th movie from Marvel Studios has now earned $281.2 million at the domestic box office. Even with the Summer season coming to a close, Guardians...

It’s unfortunate that three ladies from Glee have made it to this SAG Awards list but we can assure you that they’re all on for very valid reasons. We’ll tackle Lea Michele first. It’s odd that she’s on here because she’s been doing so well with red carpet fashion lately, but our problem with her silver-grey Versace get-up she chose tonight is that it washed her out. A brighter lip, perhaps? A different colored shoe? But our biggest issue is with that hip-high slit, which looked tacky. Diva, please!
Then there’s Heather Morris, whose Masai Payan dress just doesn’t work because one half looks like it’s made from pleather and the other half is sheer panels that look confused. Her hairstyle ages her unnecessarily, too. Finishing up the trio is Jenna Ushkowitz in Rebecca Minkoff. The mixture of florals and the sheer paneling,...

You know what I've been listening to all morning, my fine furry friends? The Muppet "Green Album." How this slipped past my pop culture radar before today, I will never know, but it's a nifty compilation of covers of famous Muppet songs. My favorite is Matt Nathanson's "I Hope That Something Better Comes Along." Some are better than others, and all of them lack that certain je ne sais frog, but it's a cute album and you can listen to all of it, right now, on NPR. For freesies. One last thing, I misread this listing: 'Mahna Mahna' performed by The Fray as performed by Tina Fey and almost hyperventilated. Nerts. (NPR)
Ah, NPR, what a wonderful resource. Thank goodness our government recognizes its value and has not slashed its fund-eh? What? F*ck. Listen, I'm really not a communist, I swear. But I do think, in light of...

Ah, summertime. For us, that means two things: great cookouts and awesome movies. But since this isn't nexthotdog.com (though we would totally bookmark that site if it existed), we're focusing our energy of all the terrific sequels, blockbusters, superheroes and comedies that are poised to make this one of the best summers in years.
In fact, we're so focused that we've evaluated and ranked every single movie coming out over the next few months so we can better prioritize our moviegoing time. The result? Our list of the 25 Most Anticipated Movies of the Summer. Enjoy -- and pass the relish.
25. 'The Change-Up'
Release Date: Aug. 5
Starring: Jason Bateman, Ryan Reynolds, Olivia Wilde
The Scoop: Hollywood has been making body-switching films for years -- think "Freaky Friday" or "18 Again" or, you know, "Body Switch" -- but never quite like this one. Here's the distinctly adult premise behind "The...

My Idiot Brother
Opens: 2011
Cast: Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Mortimer, Steve Coogan
Director: Jesse Peretz
Summary: Ned is a well-meaning idealist just released from prison for dealing cannabis. In succession, he disrupts the lives and homes of his three sisters: a career-driven journalist about to get her big break; a bisexual hipster whose lies are disrupting her relationship; and a married mother who hasn't noticed that her marriage is falling apart.
Analysis: Scoring a good response over the weekend at the Sundance Film Festival, this broad light comedy with a sweet heart charmed the pants off The Weinstein Company to the tune of around $6 million for distribution rights. That covers most of its sub-$10 million budget, a number that it could potentially outgross by several factors if the good-natured tone hinted at in the reviews were correct. If anything, the few negatives tended to be because this...

The Factory
Opens: 2011
Cast: John Cusack, Jennifer Carpenter, Ksenia Solo, Mae Whitman, Sonya Walger
Director: Morgan O'Neill
Summary: An obsessed cop is on the trail of a serial killer prowling the streets of Buffalo, New York. When his teenage daughter disappears, he drops any pretension and professional restraint he might have to get the killer.
Analysis: Shot almost three years ago now, Dark Castle had originally planned to release this thriller back in late 2009. However for reasons unspecified, it has been sitting on a shelf for some time and keeps getting delayed. In cases like these, the most obvious reason is usually the correct one - it stinks (eg. "Case 39"). The company certainly has had its fair share of box-office duds lately including "Whiteout," "Ninja Assassin," "The Losers," "Orphan" and "Splice".
Yet Cusack generally has good taste in projects, his last venture into horror was the surprisingly effective Stephen King...

Are you sick of the same set of young actors dominating the conversation? They're not the most talented ones, certainly. They're the ones associated with the largest franchises: Twilight, High School Musical or Harry Potter and yet few those actors -- Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Daniel Radcliffe, Ruper Grint, Emma Watson, Zac Efron, etc. -- has deftly demonstrated an ability to stand on their own outside of the franchises with which they are associated. And then there's the the tabloid stars: Miley Cyrus, Megan Fox, the cast of "the Hills," Zac Efron and that lot, not to mention the bland but pretty, like Blake Lively, Minka Kelly or Gemma Arteron or Hayden Panettiere.
But what about the actors with actual talent? The ones that aren't spoken of as often, but the ones likely to survive the longest. Today, I want to take a gander at the 10 Most Promising Actors 25 and...
