Unique, Cool, and Interesting Program.
I have never seen a show like G4's Cinematech. It is one of the best shows on the network. Cinematech airs portions of cinema from several of today's hottest games in each 30-minute broadcast.
The coolest aspect of today's video games is the cinema. Trailer cinema lure us into buying games, and finale cinema lure us into playing games non-stop until the very end. Cinematech feeds this obsession.
Not only does Cinematech show cinema from newly released games, the show often airs special theme editions that sometimes include much more than just cinema. Episodes such as "Bad Games," which features game play footage of the worst video games of all time, "Old and New" which features video of game action from classic games such as 'Castlevania' and 'Rygar' and then shows cinema from the games' contemporary versions, and my favorite, "The Power of Advertising," which shows the actual classic commercials for video games and systems such as the Atari 2600, ColecoVision, and the original 'Pitfall'.
The only problem is that Cinematech does not seem to have a regular time slot on G4, and is shown pretty much at various times throughout the week. No matter, though. Cinematech is definitely worth the time and trouble of searching television listings.
